On the way home, Song Yi couldn’t stop thinking and still couldn’t figure it out.
If Gu Xingchuan liked him, it seemed quite mysterious. For one, Gu Xingchuan had always been devoted to Shen Li. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone out of his way to make Song Yi’s life difficult and create trouble for him over the years.
Secondly, it didn’t make sense for someone to like another person in such a manner.
Throughout his life, Song Yi had received attention from many admirers, of all genders. They all showed him great respect, trying various ways to win his favor. Some even wrote him love letters for years, hoping he would take pity on them. In short, everyone treated him exceptionally well, almost as if they would have gladly given him their hearts.
He had never encountered anyone like Gu Xingchuan—bullying him, teasing him, and harassing him like a lunatic.
Was this supposed to be a sign of affection? Song Yi couldn’t make sense of it.
If he looked at it from a different perspective, he might understand better. As a former Alpha, he knew well how strong the possessiveness of an Alpha could be. For an Alpha, a temporarily marked Omega was practically considered their property.
Due to this inherent tendency, Gu Xingchuan’s possessiveness, controlling nature, and physical desires might give the impression that he had fallen for Song Yi.
Even after realizing this, Song Yi still felt unsettled. Why should he have to endure this kind of treatment from Gu Xingchuan, especially after what happened between them? Where could he even go to seek justice for such a situation?
Was he really just unlucky? Was there no one who would hold Gu Xingchuan accountable?
After resting at home for a few days, Song Yi threw himself back into work. He met with several studios to assess and compare their capabilities.
The industry had not been doing well in recent years. While it was once lucrative, the tightening of policies had put many projects on hold. Many second and third-tier actors could only secure a job once a year, and countless people had left the industry due to the worsening situation.
Song Yi was doing relatively well. His reputation from theater performances was solid, and his impeccable conduct on set made directors eager to work with him. The studios he visited were interested because of his strong industry reputation.
After meeting with the owner of one studio, Song Yi received a call from Song Jie. Anxious and fearful, she asked him to come to the hospital because Chi Yuan had been admitted to the ICU after being attacked—Chi Yuan, his worthless brother-in-law.
Song Yi was taken aback. He hadn’t seen Chi Yuan in a long time and had assumed he was hiding somewhere to avoid debts. He never expected that this foolish man would end up in the hospital.
Song Yi first called Zhao Jiangwei, instructing him to protect his mother and sister-in-law. Then, he made his way to the hospital alone.
