Song Yi frowned, cursing the reckless driver under his breath. Driving under the influence was dangerous for everyone involved.
Sure enough, as he pressed the accelerator to go uphill, the black SUV slammed into him, jolting Song Yi’s head dangerously close to the window. If it had been a harder hit, he would have been bleeding now.
Fuming, he rolled down the window to confront the driver. The other party seemed to realize they were at fault and quickly stopped. The passenger door swung open, revealing a long leg clad in shiny black shoes, as a tall man stepped out.
The man wore a silk white shirt beneath a slightly fitted dark vest, exuding an air of sophistication and elegance, with a distinctly aristocratic presence.
He strode over, pulling a crisp white business card from his vest pocket and handing it to Song Yi. “I apologize; my friend was drinking. We take full responsibility for this.”
As Song Yi caught a whiff of the faint scent of cologne on the card, he glanced at the man. He was quite good-looking, with well-defined features and a polished appearance, but clearly lacking in sense.
“Don’t drive after drinking,” Song Yi gently reminded him as he took the business card, which read [Shen Du, General Manager of Siyu Group.]
The surname wasn’t common, and as Song Yi turned his head, he caught a glimpse of a beautifully wrapped gift peeking from beneath the windshield of the Land Rover. Given that they were at this hotel, it was likely a relative of Shen Li’s. His tone softened. “The purpose of going out is to have fun. Since you’ve had so much to drink, you should get a designated driver.”
“The designated driver can’t enter the parking lot, so I had him wait outside. I didn’t expect this to happen,” the man said with a wry smile, tapping the car window with his clean fingers. “Could you give me one of your business cards? I’ll take care of the compensation.”
Song Yi retrieved a business card from the glove compartment and handed it over. “I’ll be free this weekend. We can go to the insurance company together.”
The man’s eyes lit up as he examined the card. “Your name is Song Yi, which means ‘beautiful and elegant,’ right?”
He paused for a moment, his tone becoming slightly suggestive as he blinked a few times. “It suits you very well.”
Song Yi couldn’t be bothered with the man’s flirting. If it weren’t for him being a relative of Shen Li, he would’ve already given him the cold shoulder. Keeping his composure, he said, “See you at noon this weekend, at the claims center.”
Shen Du smiled slightly. “Alright, I’ll be there. Don’t stand me up.”
He said it like it was a date.
Song Yi silently cursed him as a weirdo as he pressed the gas pedal, and drove off without looking back.
After he was gone, a young man climbed out of the Land Rover and lazily draped his arm over Shen Du’s shoulder, grinning. “Damn, Master Shen, you’ve got some serious skills. That actually worked?”
Shen Du twirled the business card between his fingers, bringing it to his nose for a light sniff, his lips curling into a smirk. “What do you think of him?”
The young man leaned back, pulling away slightly to get a better look at Shen Du. “Not gonna lie, you two have a bit of a couple’s resemblance. Your side profiles are pretty similar.”
“Now you’re just exaggerating,” Shen Du chuckled, giving him a light smack on the back of the head. He flicked the business card and said nonchalantly, “But I’ll admit, I like his look. My new target.”
“How long do you think it’ll take to win him over?” the young man asked, laughing as he rubbed the back of his head.
Shen Du narrowed his eyes, watching the car disappear into the distance with a satisfied gleam. “No more than two weeks.”
