”Why did you drag me to this godforsaken place so early in the morning?”
On a summer day, early in the morning, in the harem, outside the remote Miaoyunxuan, two princesses were pulling each other.
The fifteen-year-old Seventh Princess was sleepy and very impatient.
The fourteen-year-old Eighth Princess was mysterious and leaned over to whisper, “There’s something strange about Xiaojiu.”
The Seventh Princess opened her eyes a little, “What’s strange?”
”Xiaojiu[1]little nine, referring to ninth princess…” The Eighth Princess opened her mouth to speak, but she could only utter ‘Xiaojiu’ and no more sound came out.
She spread her hands and said helplessly: “You see, I can’t speak when I talk about this, otherwise I would have told you a long time ago.”
”You’re just being mysterious.” The Seventh Princess rolled her eyes. “I was reading a storybook until the early hours of the morning. I’m so sleepy. I want to go back to sleep.”
The Eighth Princess held her with both hands and said earnestly, “Seventh Sister, please believe me. Little Nine is much more interesting than the storybook.”
Thinking of the three-year-old Xiaojiu, the Seventh Princess looked disgusted and said, “That little fat girl can’t even speak clearly. Apart from being a little fun to pinch, what’s so interesting about her?” After saying that, she was about to leave again.
Seeing that she was about to lose control, the Eighth Princess stamped her feet anxiously, “If you come with me, I will find you three more books, no, five more books.”
The Seventh Princess looked at the Eighth Princess sideways, not quite believing it. “You are lying to me again. I paid the full amount for the book about the Pretty Widow and the Hunter last time, but you still haven’t given it to me.”
Seeing that she was relaxed, the Eighth Princess dragged her towards Miaoyunxuan and said, “I won’t lie to you this time. I will deliver the goods in ten days at the latest, and I will give you an 80% discount.”
The Seventh Princess reluctantly accepted it: “Then I want another one about a fox spirit and a scholar.”
The Eighth Princess nodded frantically: “Yes, yes, yes, all.”
—
Not long after, two people walked out of Miaoyunxuan, holding a delicate and beautiful baby girl in their hands.
The baby walking in the middle, wearing a pink skirt and with two small buns on her head, is the youngest ninth princess of the dynasty, three-year-old Ji Jinyou.
Ji Jinyou was short and chubby, and she had to struggle hard with her short legs to keep up with the other two.
At the age of three, she needs a lot of sleep every day. Being woken up from bed so early in the morning, Ji Jinyou was so sleepy that she yawned repeatedly with tears in her eyes.
She raised her chubby little face and looked at the Seventh Princess on the left, then at the Eighth Princess on the right, feeling confused and puzzled.
The seventh princess was born to the Empress, the eighth princess was born to the Imperial Noble Consort, and she was born to the unfavored Concubine Ru. Although they were all princesses, they were not on the same level at all.
Besides, the two of them were so much older than her that they couldn’t play together at all.
In the past, when the Seventh Princess and the Eighth Princess saw her, they basically never spoke to her except for rubbing her face and pinching her hands.
What’s wrong with her today? She came over to play with her so early in the morning and even said she would take her to eat something delicious.
There must be something wrong when things are abnormal, Ji Jinyou is alert.
But after a short while, she became dazed and her round little head nodded.
She was so sleepy that if the two of them hadn’t held her on both sides, she would have just fallen to the ground.
Ji Jinyou couldn’t see that above her head, the Seventh Princess and the Eighth Princess were communicating silently with lip language.
The Seventh Princess stretched out her hand and pointed at the crooked little baby who was about to fall asleep on the floor: “Is this what you call fun?”
The Eighth Princess raised her hand and tapped her ear: “Don’t talk, listen.”
The Seventh Princess rolled her eyes: “I’ve been listening for so long and I haven’t heard anything. I might as well go back to sleep.”
The two were arguing silently when a childish voice was heard.
[System, I’m so sleepy. Do you know why the seventh and eighth sisters are suddenly so abnormal? ]
Then, a young man’s voice sounded, and the tone sounded a little strange.
[My poor Baby You[2]her name Jin You, I don’t know, maybe it’s because you are so cute. ]
The seventh princess suddenly widened her eyes, and the drowsiness brought by staying up late disappeared in an instant.
She looked around, but apart from the three of them and a few palace maids following far behind, there was no one else on the narrow path, let alone any young man.
She looked at the Eighth Princess with a look of disbelief and asked silently, “Was it Xiaojiu who was talking just now?”
The Eighth Princess shrugged her shoulders, looking smug, and replied with her lips: “See, I told you there was something strange.”
The Seventh Princess pointed at her mouth and said, “I didn’t see Xiaojiu open her mouth, so what did she say? Also, who is this man named System who is talking to her?”
The Eighth Princess shook her head: “I don’t know either, that’s why I asked you to come.”
The two were communicating quietly when they heard Xiaojiu’s soft, baby voice again.
[System, including today, how many days can I live? ]
System: [More than two months, to be precise, sixty-eight days.]
The seventh princess and the eighth princess looked at each other in shock.
There are still sixty-eight days left and Xiaojiu will die?
What’s going on? How come no one has ever told me about this big thing?
Is she seriously ill? But she is fine now. Just now at Miaoyunxuan, I didn’t see Concubine Ru doing anything unusual. She even smiled and sent them out.
Also, this guy called System, is he a god or the King of Hell? Is he so powerful that he can even calculate the day of death so accurately?
Could it be that Xiaojiu was possessed by some unclean thing? But it didn’t look like that.
The two were shocked and full of doubts.
Then the little girl sighed in a dignified manner: [Hey, you say, is there really no way I can save him? ]
System: [You have tried everything. Don’t be sad, Baby You. When you die, my testing period will be over. When I officially go online, I will apply to my superiors to see if I can take you with me. If it is possible, I will apply to take you to a place where you can live longer.]
The Seventh Princess and the Eighth Princess looked at each other in confusion, neither of them understood what System was talking about.
Ji Jinyou thought about the past few days and realized that all her efforts were in vain, so she accepted her fate.
[This is the only way. I’d better hurry up and eat more delicious food. Who knows if there will be a next time? Even if there is a next time, who knows where it will go. ]
Seeing the little girl’s face wrinkled into a bun, she looked a little depressed. The system couldn’t bear it and quickly changed the subject: [Baby You, do you want to listen to today’s plot? ]
Ji Jinyou became excited: [Listen, what is going to happen today? ]
A few people were talking as they passed by the Jade Palace.
The palace gate opened and two concubines walked out arm in arm. They were Noble Lady Yue and Noble Lady Fang, who lived in the Jade Palace. They were preparing to pay their respects to the Empress’s Palace.
When the two groups met, they greeted each other according to the rules.
The system’s voice suddenly became excited: [Baby You, let’s not talk about today’s plot first, let’s talk about this pair of loving sisters first, okay? ]
The system is so exciting, there must be some gossip. Ji Jinyou is no longer sleepy, and her big eyes light up: [Okay.]
The eighth princess’ eyes lit up, and she winked at the seventh princess who didn’t understand what was going on, and mouthed, “There’s going to be something interesting.”
Everyone present heard someone talking out of nowhere, even though no one spoke. Especially a man’s voice, Concubine Yue and Concubine Fang were both startled and looked around.
At this moment, the man spoke again.
[These two sisters seem to be as close as one person, but no one knows that last time Concubine Yue had an allergy and had rashes all over her body, and missed the opportunity to accompany the emperor on a hunt, it was because Concubine Fang secretly sprinkled medicine powder on her clothes.]
Concubine Yue was extremely shocked and glared at Concubine Fang with her eyes seemingly spitting fire.
Bitch, it’s you! ?
No wonder she suddenly broke out in a rash, causing His Majesty to look disgusted and directly drive her off the dragon chariot. He also did not summon her for several months.
Concubine Fang looked away guiltily and didn’t look at her.
The seventh princess and the eighth princess looked at each other, gossip ignited in their eyes.
Ji Jinyou was too short and was too tired to look up. She lowered her head after taking a look. [Doesn’t the noble Yue know? ]
System: [I don’t know. Lady Fang pretended so well and actively helped her find the murderer behind the scenes. Who knew she actually did it herself?]
Ji Jinyou: [That Concubine Yue is really pitiful. She treated Concubine Fang as a sister, but she never expected that she would harm others behind her back.]
System: [It’s not that tragic. You don’t know that when Concubine Fang performed a dance at the Dragon Boat Festival banquet, her skirt tore, she lost face in front of the emperor, and it was Concubine Yue who secretly did something about it.]
This time, it was Concubine Fang’s turn to suddenly change her expression. She turned her head and stared at Concubine Yue fiercely, as if she wanted to dig a hole in her face with her eyes.
Bitch, you did it?!
No wonder she couldn’t find the reason. She thought it was because her personal maid didn’t have good skills, so she punished her for no reason. This caused the master and servant to become estranged, and the Empress even punished her by confining her to her room for three months.
The two of them twisted their handkerchiefs to pieces, picked their nails to pieces, and were eager to start fighting right away.
Seeing this, the Seventh Princess and the Eighth Princess pretended to be ignorant and forced themselves to hold back their laughter. They did not speak or move. They just stood there with their heads down, each fiddling with the two little buns on Little Nine’s head.
Concubine Yue and Concubine Fang exchanged glances for a while, but they still couldn’t hold back their anger. They nodded to the three princesses tacitly, turned around together, and walked back with their maids.
As soon as the gate was closed, one could hear pulling and shoving, whispered cursing, and voices trying to stop the fight. It was obvious that a fight had started.
Wow, wow, wow, don’t wait for a moment, so anxious.
The seventh princess and the eighth princess both let go of the little pigtails in their hands and pounced in front of the tightly closed gate like two wolves seeing a rabbit. One taller than the other, they leaned against the crack of the door to peek in, completely lacking the manners of princesses.
Ji Jinyou was confused: [System, what are the sisters doing? ]
System: [In the courtyard, Concubine Yue and Concubine Fang are fighting.]
Ji Jinyou tilted his head, puzzled: [They were fine when they first came out, why did they suddenly start fighting? ]
The system couldn’t figure out the situation either: [I don’t know, maybe they suddenly got sick?]
The seventh princess and the eighth princess rolled their eyes together and said, “It’s all your fault.”
