After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Was Pampered By My Younger Uncle Chapter 116

Chapter 116: A Peculiar Preference?

Fu Huaizhou didn’t bother to hide the disgust in his tone as he looked at the completely unfamiliar face in front of him. “Who let you in?”

The woman, clearly aware that Fu Huaizhou’s office was under live surveillance, tried to put herself fully in the camera’s view, her voice syrupy and sickening.

“President Fu, I’m from the Marketing Department, here to deliver some documents.”

Fu Huaizhou distinctly remembered calling the Secretary just moments ago. Besides, there was a strict rule that employees from other departments weren’t allowed to enter his office.

She said she was delivering documents, yet stood not in front of the desk but at Fu Huaizhou’s side a spot reserved only for special cases handled by Assistant Qin.

“President Fu, I’m Yu Qian from Marketing.”

Fu Huaizhou didn’t even pay attention to her. Instead, his hand swiftly reached for the internal phone.

“Did the Secretary all resign? Get someone in here to remove the unauthorized intruder,” he ordered, his tone laced with anger.

Just as he finished speaking, the woman who had been trying to maintain a coquettish demeanor suddenly looked horrified but made a last desperate move, pretending to fall towards him. Her low-cut blouse left little to the imagination as she leaned forward.

  • “Looks like she’s trying to get some special treatment in the office, huh? Though I doubt Fu Huaizhou hasn’t seen this kind of thing before.”
  • “No man is completely innocent they just put on a show for the cameras.”
  • “She’s probably aiming to go viral with this stunt, hoping for fame even if it’s infamy.”

Outside, in the Secretariat, Assistant Qin had just received the internal call. Panic set in as he rushed towards the office.

“Who let her in? Only the Secretariat staff are supposed to deliver documents!” he shouted. He’d only stepped out for ten minutes, and now there was a crisis.

Chen, a recently hired secretary, nervously explained, “We were too busy. She said she’d help deliver it, so I didn’t stop her…”

Assistant Qin already had a good idea of what was happening inside and gave the newcomer a look of pity. A newcomer about to become history.

Just then, a woman’s voice clear and confident cut through the tension. The sound of high heels hitting the floor felt like a hammer on Assistant Qin’s heart.

“What could possibly make our unshakeable Assistant Qin so nervous?”

Assistant Qin looked up to see Ruan Li approaching. She was dressed in a striking red dress, her makeup flawless, her entire demeanor radiating elegance clearly just finished with an event.

The two live streams finally converged.

  • “Wow, perfect outfit for catching someone red-handed.”
  • “Ruan Li looked stunning at her promotional event! Anyone who didn’t tune in missed out.”
  • “As beautiful as she is, it’s still useless if she can’t keep her man…”

Assistant Qin was now sweating profusely. He had seen the heated arguments between Ruan Li and Fu Huaizhou before after all, she had left for overseas when pregnant. During that period, he’d been worried about losing his job.

“Madam, it’s nothing serious, just a mix-up with the documents,” he stammered.

Ruan Li gave him a look, clearly skeptical. For something to make Assistant Qin so anxious, it had to involve her.

“Oh ,” she drawled, elongating the word. “It seems like your President Fu’s office is quite lively today.”

The office door swung open without warning. Ruan Li saw the scene in an instant: Fu Huaizhou sat behind his desk, his face dark, while a disheveled woman lay at his feet.

Ruan Li stepped closer. The woman’s outfit was hardly scandalous because it was designed to be provocative.

In the comments:

  • “Uh-oh, caught in the act—Fu’s gotta be sweating now.”
  • “What are you talking about? She lunged, and Fu Huaizhou moved out of the way he rejected her, plain and simple.”
  • “Exactly, he dodged so fast, the chair practically left a blur.”

Fu Huaizhou, expecting Assistant Qin, didn’t even look up. His tone was ice-cold.

“Get her out of here. You’re losing ten percent of your year-end bonus for this.”

Ruan Li gave a mocking laugh. No wonder Assistant Qin was always posting prayers for his bonus on social media apparently, blocking Fu Huaizhou from seeing those posts and leaving them for her to read.

“Ten percent? Is that really enough, President Fu?” she teased.

Assistant Qin’s heart sank, but he trusted that Madam would compensate him double.

Fu Huaizhou, upon hearing the familiar voice, looked up in surprise, immediately standing as he saw Ruan Li’s amused expression.

He pointed at the woman on the ground, still indignant, “She tried to frame me, I dodged.”

Ruan Li observed the woman still disheveled, and the scent of her perfume familiar. Ruan Li’s smile remained as cool as ever.

“How much effort did you put into finding out my perfume, getting it specially blended to mimic the scent?” she asked.

“Were you hoping to stir up scandal through the live broadcast, to make a quick buck, or genuinely trying to test Fu Huaizhou for me?”

“Should I be thanking you?” She raised a hand, signaling to Assistant Qin, who had been waiting at the door.

Two security guards entered and swiftly removed the woman, who, in a final desperate act, shouted, “You think this is the first time? You only caught me today. I’ve been in here many times!”

As the sound faded, Fu Huaizhou moved aside to let Ruan Li sit in his chair.

“She’s lying. Only the Secretariat has access to this office.”

“Wife, I’ll have someone come in and disinfect it.”

Ruan Li wasn’t skeptical Assistant Qin’s year-end bonus was on the line, after all. Plus, she had no reason to doubt Fu Huaizhou’s cleanliness or loyalty. If anything, he was the one who got jealous over her interacting with younger male stars.

“Wife ew”

  • “How does such a big company not have any mistresses?”
  • “Why would anyone doubt that? Everyone in the upper circles has always said Fu’s head is not interested in other women. Ruan Li was his first love…”

“A pure-hearted President Fu~”

Ruan Li noticed the door to the lounge was ajar, guessing that Linying was napping inside. If not, with Fu Huaizhou’s temperament, he wouldn’t have hesitated to throw the woman out even if it didn’t involve physical force.

Sitting in the chair, she tilted her head back, observing the man who stood there calmly. She decided to tease him a bit.

“If I didn’t know better, I might wonder if our President Fu had some… peculiar preferences. What was she doing kneeling on the floor?”

“??? Whoa, things are getting steamy was that a sudden shift to adult talk?”

Fu Huaizhou, feeling teased, lightly pinched the soft skin at the back of her neck. “Seems someone forgot what happened under the desk.”

“What? When did that happen?” Ruan Li protested, swatting at his hand.

The man leaned closer, lowering his voice with a playful grin, “The study at Yuyuan, when Fu Xingchuan came looking”
