Chapter 118: Why Do You Like the Bathroom So Much?
“Hm? Is everyone this forward nowadays?” Ruan Li teased, looking at Fu Huaizhou as they stepped into the bedroom and saw rose petals scattered over the bed.
The entire room was filled with roses, and in the middle of the bed, a heart shape was formed with flower petals a somewhat cheesy touch.
“What do you mean by ‘forward’?” Fu Huaizhou glanced sideways at her. He had simply followed the guides he found online, step by step.
As for why he was looking up guides, it was related to previous Valentine’s Days and Qixi Festivals. Each year, he gave gifts either diamonds, jewelry, or straight up bank transfers. When Fu Chengjing turned one, because Ruan Li mentioned that the child might get bored playing alone at home, he bought an amusement park. This year, their youngest, LingYing, just turned one, and it was rare to have some alone time, so he had specifically researched Qixi Festival ideas after Ruan Li said things felt repetitive.
Pointing at the petals on the bed, Ruan Li giggled playfully. “Petals on the bed… isn’t that usually a hint for something?”
She had only seen this kind of move in TV dramas, where couples would book hotels for romantic getaways on Valentine’s Day.
Since the live broadcast was nearing its end, the viewers’ comments exploded, especially after they saw the bedroom
“Come on, girl, don’t treat us like outsiders. Is there anything we can’t see? Can you extend the time?”
“We don’t need visuals audio alone will do!”
“It’s Qixi Festival some people are having romantic evenings, while others are stuck watching others be lovey dovey. The inequalities of life, huh.”
“When you think you’ve hit rock bottom, remember little Chengjing dragged out fishing by his uncle all day, made him upset, then got dropped off at his uncle’s place again when he got home. Poor kid no love from mom, dad, or even his uncle, who’s probably jealous of him.”
“And what about the eldest uncle? Haven’t seen him yet, but with such charming siblings, he must be handsome and rich.”
“Can we start a matchmaking for the eldest uncle? I’m signing up! (If he’s anything like Shixun and Ruan Li, he’s bound to be hot and loaded.)”
In the room, Fu Huaizhou’s eyes darkened as he heard her words. He glanced at the time, grabbed a remote control, and turned off all the cameras.
These were devices he had arranged to be installed before the show began, so there was no chance of accidental leaks or the producers extending the recording for extra hype.
Back in the control room, the production team breathed a sigh of relief. They were never going to let anything leak who would dare, given Fu Huaizhou’s status? If anything, they were more worried he’d ignore the broadcast completely and, if anything inappropriate aired, they’d be in deep trouble.
Ruan Li saw what he did and tugged on his sleeve, whispering, “I still feel uncomfortable with cameras around. Could you hold back a bit?”
“For how long?”
Ruan Li was sheepish and whispered, “As long as we’re recording the show?”
Fu Huaizhou’s face remained indifferent. “Ruan Li, if you want me dead, just say it.”
He glanced at the now-off cameras. “Besides, it’s not like the cameras are new.”
Ruan Li’s face went crimson. She had only known about the hallway and outdoor cameras, but one time after a shower, she lost her engagement ring and couldn’t find it anywhere. She panicked until Fu Huaizhou took her to the study to check the footage. It turned out she had tucked the ring into a pocket before bathing, and it had slipped out of her mind. That was when she learned that even their bedroom had cameras.
Fu Huaizhou had already explained that only he had access to the private areas’ footage, so it was “safe.”
“You pervert…” Ruan Li wanted to curse just thinking about it. “How do I know you aren’t watching them for other reasons?”
Fu Huaizhou gave her a meaningful look. “You’re right here. Why would I watch a recording when I have the real thing?”
Ruan Li opened her mouth to retort, but a shadow suddenly loomed over her.
Fu Huaizhou bent down, grabbed her by the waist, and swung her over his shoulder, carrying her effortlessly into the bathroom.
As the steam filled the air, Ruan Li’s breathing became shallow. Gazing at the broad, tan muscles in front of her, she asked weakly, “Fu Huaizhou, why do you like bathrooms so much?”
“Were you born in a bathroom in a past life!?”
The man didn’t stop his motions. He tilted her chin upwards, forcing her to face the full-length mirror in front of them.
His voice had a rare trace of teasing. “Maybe not in a past life, but our two kids definitely were.”
…
After everything, Ruan Li lay slumped over the edge of the bathtub. Rose petals floated on the water’s surface. She had planned to take some beautiful photos to post on Weibo, but now she was too exhausted to even lift a finger.
“Take them tomorrow,” Fu Huaizhou said calmly as he rubbed soap on her back.
“The flowers will wilt by then, and people will think you, Fu Huaizhou, can’t even buy fresh ones,” Ruan Li pouted.
Fu Huaizhou knew she was annoyed about being tired. It happened every time things didn’t go exactly the way she imagined. He was used to it by now.
“Okay, I’ll get fresh ones for you tomorrow so you can take your photos.”
After finally getting her to settle down, they climbed into bed. With Ruan Li nestled in his arms, she was almost asleep, convinced she was the most exhausted woman on Qixi.
Meanwhile, at the Shi family home, Shi Mu had just managed to get the two little ones to sleep. Today, LingYing refused to go down easily, so he and Fu Chengjing took turns comforting her, while also dealing with a barrage of questions from Chengjing.
“Uncle, why does Little Uncle get mad so easily?”
“Uncle, why do two people celebrate Qixi together, but you’re all by yourself?”
“Uncle, why hasn’t Little Uncle had a baby yet?”
“Uncle, why aren’t you married yet?”
Shi Mu thought dealing with company meetings was easier than this. Finally escaping the kids’ room, he turned to head for his own bedroom only to be followed by a tiny figure.
Fu Chengjing rubbed his calf. “LingYing kicked me, so I woke up again.”
Shi Mu felt like the sky was falling. He couldn’t imagine what Qixi or Valentine’s Days would look like in the future if Shi Xun and Ye Mian had more kids. For the first time, he felt it was absolutely necessary to start considering matchmaking, arranged marriage, or just finding someone to settle down with.
“Tomorrow we have to wake up early for breakfast. Go back to sleep,” he said, looking down at the small boy beside him.
This was the first grandchild of the Fu and Shi families, so he had been pampered from birth. Yet even this little darling could be a handful.
Fu Chengjing didn’t seem to realize he was being a nuisance and kept tugging on Shi Mu’s clothes.
“Uncle, I have a question that I can’t sleep without an answer to.”
