Chapter 120: Help Me Massage Tonight
The day after Qixi (Chinese Valentine’s Day), Ruan Li took pictures with the room full of roses and snapped a few shots of little Jing and LingYing to post on Weibo.
As expected, the comments section blew up. Ruan Li rarely showed off her kids, but since the variety show started, the two children had become very popular. Under the pressure of fans, she finally shared a few photos.
She captioned the post using little Jing’s voice
“Stealing Mama’s phone to post on Weibo~”
The comments focused on different aspects, with some asking about the children and others focusing on Ruan Li.
“When I get younger, I’ll be little Jing’s kindergarten classmate!”
“Why is it nearly noon? Don’t tell me the roses were only posted now because they just woke up…”
Someone else agreed: “They’ve probably sent the kids away you know what that means.”
Another person asked, “Why didn’t President Fu make an appearance?”
Seeing this comment while scrolling, Ruan Li typed a furious reply, banging on the screen
“He doesn’t deserve to!”
Fu Huaizhou, who had just gotten scolded, saw her action and the reply on her phone. Ruan Li shot him a challenging side-eye, as if saying, “I know you saw it what of it?”
Little Jing, who was highly curious but oblivious to tensions, was all over the place. Unlike LingYing, who could sense the mood and sat between her parents trying to cuddle them closer, Xiao Jing didn’t notice anything off. He ran to the kitchen and asked the staff to make some floral tea with honey, then carefully brought the cup to Ruan Li.
“Mama, have something sweet to drink.”
Ruan Li huffed at Fu Huaizhou and sipped from the cup. Fu Huaizhou glanced at his son behaving so sweetly by Ruan Li’s side, and wasn’t given even a glance.
Soon, Ruan Li’s phone screen kept lighting up. She glanced and saw that it was Shi Xun sharing her Weibo post.
Shi Xun “Kids shouldn’t play with phones. Come out with your kiddie watch and go fishing.”
Unlike the comments on Ruan Li’s page, which were filled with subtle innuendos, the replies to Shi Xun’s post were all laughter.
“Aren’t you the one who complained to their dad that you’d never go fishing with them again?”
Shi Xun replied “That was yesterday. Today’s a new day.”
“Uncle, I’m fishing, catching what kind of fish? Loving you till death do us part.”
Shi Xun even responded to that cheesy line “You sound like the kind who catches nothing.”
…
Ruan Li was laughing so hard at Shi Xun’s replies that she couldn’t straighten up. No wonder people said Shi Xun had a sharp tongue with a comeback for everything.
She helped little Jing put on sun-protective clothing, fully gearing him up before sending him out. Shi Xun was already waiting outside.
Shi Xun had recently purchased a private estate with a reservoir, and Xiao Jing spent the entire summer there fishing. Seeing Shi Xun’s laid-back figure at the entrance, Ruan Li couldn’t believe someone as impatient as him would have the patience to fish.
She bent down and softly reminded little Jing, “Don’t catch too many fish today. Let your Uncle Shi catch some, or he might sell you off and not let you come home.”
Little Jing obediently nodded.
After sending off the kids, Ruan Li walked back to the main hall, looking at her phone when she spotted a familiar username among the many fan accounts.
Fu Huaizhou.
At first, she thought it was a prank. But when she clicked on the profile, she discovered that it was indeed him the real deal. Somehow, Fu Huaizhou had registered a Weibo account, verified in record time.
His profile read “CEO of Fu Corporation,” and he followed only one person her.
Going back to her own Weibo, she saw that Fu Huaizhou had replied to the comment asking why he hadn’t appeared in her post.
“Busy making money to support a gold digger.”
Ruan Li snorted. This man was really trying to save his face.
The comment section, lit up by his response, was abuzz. For the past few years, despite the curiosity around their marriage, there was no direct way to learn about their lives.
“Is this really President Fu?”
“I just want to know how many times last night… is that allowed?”
“Who’s the gold digger Ruan Li or the kids?”
Fu Huaizhou rarely engaged in the comments, but this time he did. Without saying anything extra, he directly tagged Ruan Li.
Ruan Li, ever quick with a comeback, responded
“Stranger, blocked.”
Thus, from that day on, Ruan Li gained a new nickname the “Gold Digger.”
The variety show didn’t air live every day, only once a week. When the show aired again, everyone noticed a distinct tension between Ruan Li and Fu Huaizhou compared to before.
“What’s going on? Did they have a fight?”
“Didn’t they just celebrate Qixi? Ruan Li even posted on Weibo.”
“It’s normal for couples to have disagreements, right?”
That morning, Ruan Li surprisingly woke up early because it was little Jing’s fourth birthday. When the live broadcast started, viewers were shocked to see little Jing and LingYing in the master bedroom.
“Huh, why are the kids in the master bedroom today? Where’s President Fu?”
Someone quickly commented, “Maybe he went to work early?”
“Isn’t today little Jing’s birthday? Why would he be working?”
Just as the comment scrolled by, the live feed followed Xiao Jing as he opened the master bedroom door and the camera panned down the hallway. A tall figure emerged from the study on the other side.
“Breaking news! They slept in separate rooms last night!”
“Looks like they really did have a fight he got sent to the study.”
“Or maybe they had a… study roleplay?”
“Confirmed, Da Huang (nickname) is a troublemaker.”
Despite these theories, the tension remained clear throughout the morning as they prepared the venue for little Jing’s birthday. Fu Huaizhou watched Ruan Li maintain a solid one-meter distance, feeling helpless. Even after ointments, flowers, and gifting her the jewelry she had been eyeing, she still hadn’t forgiven him.
The always cunning Fu Huaizhou concluded that Ruan Li simply didn’t like the bathroom, so he decided that next time he would pick a different location. Once she was in a better mood, they could return to the bathroom.
While Ruan Li was busy decorating the birthday venue for little Jing, a servant informed her of a package. She asked them to bring it in. Inside the box was a dress identical to the one she had worn that day just like Fu Huaizhou’s classic tactic of replacing a ruined dress.
Boring but effective, especially with Ruan Li’s penchant for collecting beautiful things.
Seeing her surprised expression, Fu Huaizhou stepped closer and whispered softly, “From now on, we’ll keep two of each happy?”
Ruan Li huffed. She knew exactly what he meant. One dress to wear, one for him to tear what a scheme.
“Since today is little Jing’s birthday, I’ll reluctantly forgive you,” she said.
Fu Huaizhou finally relaxed and slipped an arm around her waist, a smile forming on his lips.
“The bed in the study is hard. Help me with a massage tonight?”
