Chapter 121: Distracted by Handsome Men

Ruan Li’s gaze swept over Fu Huaizhou’s lower body. Although he hadn’t gone to the office today, he was still dressed formally for the birthday party. She’d heard that a man’s best look was either in military uniform or a suit, and she had to admit it was true.

She’d never seen Fu Huaizhou in a military uniform, but she’d almost grown tired of seeing him in suits over the years. Yet, she couldn’t deny that he still looked impeccable exuding a restrained and elegant charm. His white shirt was tucked neatly into tailored trousers, and years of working out had kept his physique in peak condition, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist.

“What are you staring at?” Fu Huaizhou followed her gaze downward. It wasn’t as if it was their first meeting no need for such careful scrutiny. Besides, she didn’t even appreciate him this much when they first met.

Ruan Li slowly averted her eyes. She had just been reminded of his toned abs when he mentioned needing a massage for his waist. The current internet trend of admiring a “wolf like waist” seemed to perfectly describe him.

“The bed’s too hard? You could always sleep on a chair,” she said nonchalantly. The Yu Garden had plenty of other bedrooms, but he insisted on staying in the study. If he wanted to make himself uncomfortable, he shouldn’t expect her to help.

Fu Huaizhou leaned in close, whispering, “So, can I go back to the bedroom tonight?”

Naturally, the viewers on the livestream didn’t miss Ruan Li’s fleeting gaze sometimes, certain emotions are just impossible to hide.

“A handsome face can really distract a girl Ruan Li has clearly been tempted.”

“I have to admit, President Fu’s physique is incredible. His waist looks like it’s capable of… well, moving (No offense, absolutely intentional).”

“How is it that some people reach thirty without their bodies changing at all, looking almost the same as when they first got married?”

Ruan Li was busy arranging the party decorations, so she didn’t see that comment. If she had, she would’ve had plenty to say his current state was entirely due to her efforts.

The reasons would naturally become evident as the livestream progressed.

For little Jing’s birthday, they had only invited close family, friends, and a few of his kindergarten classmates he’d chosen. Both Ruan Li and Fu Huaizhou wanted to avoid turning a simple birthday celebration into a political or business event.

With many children attending, the party wasn’t as formal as usual. Instead, the emphasis was on sweets and toys.

The kindergarteners arrived, all neatly dressed, each bearing a gift for Fu Chengjing.

“Thank you,” Fu Chengjing said as he graciously accepted the gifts, having stood by the door awaiting his friends’ arrival.

The kids soon began to excitedly compare gifts even before the party officially started. Ruan Li let them be.

Meanwhile, Yingling, who had been shy around so many people since she’d started walking and talking, quietly hid behind Ruan Li, pulling out her own gift.

“Brother, happy birthday,” she said softly.

She held a 20 cm tall doll a plush toy Ruan Li had commissioned to look like Fu Chengjing. With light brown hair, pale grey eyes, a touch of blush, and a gentle smile, the doll was a miniature version of him. Yingling had adorned the doll’s head with cute stickers and hairpins and dressed it in a mini version of the kindergarten uniform.

Yingling shyly pointed at the decorations on the doll’s head, “Mommy drew the design, but I decorated it with stickers.”

Fu Chengjing, though having received many gifts, had never gotten one from his sister, especially considering Yingying was not even two years old yet.

“Thank you, Mommy. Thank you, Yingying.” He hugged the doll and then bent down to kiss his sister’s soft cheek.

Comments popped up
“Ruan Li should release merch; I want one too!”
“In my next life, I’m signing up to be Fu Huaizhou and Ruan Li’s child, thanks.”
“I can’t believe siblings could be this sweet!”

Among the barrage of comments, one stood out

ID: JustAPasserbyNotATwig “Nope, my brother just tattles to our mom that I’m dating early, then threatens to break my legs.”

A few kindergarten kids, seeing this, grew curious. The last time they’d seen Fu Chengjing’s sister, she was just a couple of months old. Now, she was a porcelain doll of a toddler, speaking in a soft voice.

One bright eyed little boy looked up at Ruan Li, “Auntie, can I kiss your sister too?”

“Hmm?” Ruan Li was momentarily taken aback.

“No!” Two voices rang out simultaneously one in a childish tone and the other deep and calm. For once, father and son were completely in sync.

Fu Chengjing immediately stood protectively in front of Yingling, blocking his eager classmates. The disappointed little boy backed away, not knowing his innocent request had been noted by several present.

“Lesson learned never make a move when the brother and dad are around you’ll only make enemies.”

“I can’t imagine what kind of tests someone would have to pass to marry the princess in the future.”

“More likely a family alliance (assuming the princess agrees).”

After singing the birthday song, it was time for cake. The children, still too young for etiquette lessons, ended up with frosting covered faces.

Meanwhile, the birthday boy had already slipped away from the party.

In the garden, two little boys were tinkering with a drone. Fu Chengjing, clutching the remote, was excited to watch the drone take off and spin above the garden.

“I think it’s working!” he exclaimed, pressing the buttons as the drone flew in loops. Next to him, Lu Tingyan’s eyes gleamed with excitement.

“One day, I’ll fly a real plane into the clouds,” Fu Chengjing said, jumping with joy and chasing after the drone. “Lu Tingyan, you can be my co-pilot!”

“Sure,” Lu Tingyan nodded.

“Wait, it’s coming down!” Fu Chengjing ran off toward the descending drone, Lu Tingyan following close behind. But the garden of the Yu Garden was vast, and soon Lu Tingyan lost sight of Fu Chengjing.

Taking a break to catch his breath, he noticed a familiar swing nearby. This time, a little girl in a princess dress sat on it. She turned towards him at the sound of his footsteps, her expression soft and sweet.

“Was that thing in the sky yours just now?”

The girl’s voice was small and gentle.

Lu Tingyan vaguely remembered the events from the catch the week ceremony. “No, it’s your brother’s. He went to get it.”

“Oh Then my brother can’t come over.” The girl’s voice was tinged with regret. “Can you come over and push the swing for me, new brother?”
