After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Was Pampered By My Younger Uncle Chapter 66

Chapter 66: Livestream Reveal

In a daze, Ruan Li vaguely heard Fu Huaizhou speaking, but she was too exhausted today. Even if she did hear it, she continued to pretend not to.

“Not planning to move?” Fu Huaizhou asked, seeing her sprawled out on the bed, knowing she was doing it on purpose.

Ruan Li turned over, facing him, and spread her arms like a spoiled child. “Carry me to the bath.”

Fu Huaizhou didn’t know how she managed to make such demands so confidently, but his body was quick to obey. He bent down, slid his arms beneath her knees, and carried her toward the bathroom.

When the warm water from the bathtub enveloped her, Ruan Li’s awareness gradually returned. She absentmindedly played with the tie on Fu Huaizhou’s bathrobe, casually asking, “Will what happened today affect you?”

“Are you talking about Fu Xingchuan or Ye Ze?”

Fu Huaizhou reached for a nearby bath sponge, lathering it with foam before gently rubbing it over her fair skin with practiced ease.

“Both.” Although Ruan Li wasn’t well versed in business projects, she could sense that Ye Ze wouldn’t make small requests lightly.

“Don’t worry about it,” he said, pressing the sponge a little more firmly over her chest.

Usually, this was enough to get her mind racing, making it easier for him to take the next steps, but by the time he finished rinsing her off, she had already dozed off, resting her head on the edge of the tub.

Fu Huaizhou could only smile helplessly, drying her off with a towel and wrapping her tightly before carrying her back to bed.

“Are you really that tired?” he asked softly.

Her only response was a few annoyed hums, as if she found his voice too loud.

Because of a recently released low-budget historical drama and her new contract under the Fu Corporation, Ruan Li’s reputation and opportunities had significantly improved.

“We don’t have any interviews with the cast today, just a promotional shoot for an ad,” Chen Jing, her manager, briefed her as they sat together.

Ruan Li yawned and nodded. “Let’s get going then.”

Chen Jing teased her with a smile, “Why are you so tired every day lately? Is President Fu not too busy at work and keeping you up all night?”

Just as she finished speaking, Fu Huaizhou, already dressed and ready for the day, walked downstairs, his gaze drifting to Ruan Li, who was lounging on the couch with a face mask.

“Will you be home for dinner tonight?” he asked casually.

“I think so,” Ruan Li replied, unsure of how long her work would take. Lately, spending time at Yuyuan with Fu Huaizhou for dinner had become a habit.

Chen Jing watched him leave with his coat, nervously asking, “Do you think President Fu heard me teasing him just now?”

Ruan Li was unsure, but it wasn’t the first time he had caught her gossiping about him. “Don’t worry. Remember when you joked about him being too busy to come back to Yuyuan? He overheard that too.”

Chen Jing: …

Ruan Li thought her concern was unnecessary. Fu Huaizhou, knowing how accustomed Ruan Li was to working with Chen Jing as her manager, wouldn’t make a fuss. However, he might take it out on her instead like last time, when she ended up utterly exhausted.

Today, Ruan Li was shooting a cake commercial. With both Chen Jing and the Fu Corporation’s team overseeing her projects, she rarely had to worry about unnecessary drama. However, there was a small mishap today.

“Have some water to settle your stomach,” Chen Jing handed her a cup of warm water.

Ruan Li sipped it slowly. She had felt a sudden wave of nausea after taking a bite of the cake during the photo shoot. Although she held it together to finish the scene, she had looked a bit pale afterward.

The warm water eased the queasy feeling.

“What’s going on?” Chen Jing asked worriedly. “Could it be heatstroke from the summer?”

Ruan Li shook her head. She spent most of her time indoors or in the car, so where would she get heatstroke? “Maybe I got a little sick from not having breakfast the cake was too sweet.”

Chen Jing hesitated before asking, “You’re not…pregnant, are you? Have you been careful?”

Ruan Li was momentarily stunned but quickly responded, “Impossible. We’ve been careful every time, and I had my period last month.”

Chen Jing let out a small sigh of relief. “I guess I overthought it. Just rest a bit longer, and you should feel better.”

Ruan Li nodded, glancing at the record of her last period on her phone. Everything seemed normal.

On the way back, Chen Jing asked, “Going back to Yuyuan?”

Ruan Li was about to agree, but a glance at the time made her reconsider. It was still early, and she had nothing to do back home. “Let’s go…to the Fu Corporation. I’m a bit bored.”

The driver, sent by Fu Huaizhou, adjusted the car’s direction without question and drove straight into his private garage. Ruan Li got out and instructed, “No need to wait for me. I’ll head back with him later.”

Due to a new project at the Fu Corporation, Ruan Li was now considered semi-staff. Having also filmed a reality show with them, she moved through the building without any obstacles.

Standing in Fu Huaizhou’s private elevator, she was in the middle of a livestreamed jewelry exhibition, guiding staff on purchasing a piece she liked.

“Miss Ruan,” Assistant Qin greeted her with a surprised expression as she exited the elevator.

Still listening to the feedback through her earpiece, Ruan Li nodded at him before heading straight to Fu Huaizhou’s office.

“President Fu is in there…” Assistant Qin began to say, but she had already pushed the door open and walked in. He didn’t dare interrupt like she did, so he stood there helplessly.

Ruan Li, who had just received a confirmation of her purchase, saw the credit card notification on her phone the transaction was linked to Fu Huaizhou’s account. She removed her earphones and looked at the man seated at his desk.

“Fu Huaizhou,” she called out, holding up her phone with the screenshot of the transaction. “What if I spend all your money? Aren’t you scared?”

Fu Huaizhou, who had been focused on his computer, finally looked up. His expression remained calm as he watched Ruan Li toss her bag onto the sofa and kick off her high heels, walking barefoot towards him.

Both the Yuyuan and his office were carpeted, and ever since Ruan Li learned about his preference for thick carpets, she stopped wearing shoes inside.

“Terrified,” Fu Huaizhou said with a hint of a smile. “Still not wearing shoes?”

Ruan Li walked up to him, draped her arm around his neck, and settled on his lap, finding a comfortable position. “Why bother when there’s a carpet? I’m exhausted.”

To prevent her from slipping, he wrapped an arm securely around her waist. “Just entertain yourself for a while. I still have work to do.”

Ruan Li frowned slightly she rarely visited him at the office, only to be dismissed. She glanced at his laptop screen. “I want to see what’s so important that”

Her voice trailed off when she saw the windows open on his screen. She found herself face-to-face with several well-dressed professionals on the video call.
