After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Was Pampered By My Younger Uncle Chapter 90

Chapter 90: I’ll Apply It For You

Ruan Li originally thought that Fu Huaizhou would need more time to recover, but his recovery speed was astonishing. Apart from the injury on his head, which still required a bit more time, the bruises on his body were almost completely healed.

“Don’t you have your own room?” Ruan Li looked at the man standing at her door, noticing several servants watching from the hallway.

Ever since the incident of falling off the building, Shi Mu had stopped restricting Fu Huaizhou from coming to this floor, which made him act with even more confidence.

Fu Huaizhou saw the wariness on her face. “My room isn’t as comfortable as this one.”

“Then go sleep with Shi Xun,” Ruan Li said, her hand on the doorknob.

“That’s not appropriate,” Fu Huaizhou refused without hesitation. He wasn’t a little girl at his age, it would be awkward to share a bed with a friend.

“What’s not appropriate? Don’t you guys always say your relationship is so close that you share the same pair of pants?”

Fu Huaizhou frowned slightly at her words. “Who said that? I have enough money not to share pants with anyone.”

Before Ruan Li could react, he suddenly moved closer, picked her up, and carried her into the bedroom, locking the door from the inside.

Ruan Li waved her hands frantically. “Why did you lock the door? I haven’t showered yet…”

With her belly getting bigger, it was inconvenient and unsafe for her to bathe alone, so the servants had been helping her.

Fu Huaizhou set her on the bed, then stood in front of her wardrobe, picking out clothes for after the shower. His tone was calm, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

“With me here, you don’t need anyone else.”

Ruan Li was at a loss for words because he had a point. Even before she was pregnant, Fu Huaizhou had helped her with about eight out of every ten baths.

The reason was simple after certain moments, Ruan Li would be so exhausted that she could hardly move, let alone lift a finger.

In the bathroom, Fu Huaizhou’s hands gently brushed over her now obviously round belly, and he looked at it with a hint of awe.

Her previously slender waist was now supporting a life.

“What are you looking at?” Ruan Li was a bit displeased. “Don’t tell me you’re secretly thinking my waist is fat now?”

“No,” Fu Huaizhou said softly, pouring water gently over her skin. “I was just thinking that our Lychee is very brave.”

She was in the prime of her career and still young, yet she had chosen to keep this unexpected surprise. When he saw the pregnancy test results, he’d figured out roughly when it happened.

That time, they’d been particularly affectionate after a short separation, and it had led to this.

“I’m sorry,” Fu Huaizhou said with a heavy tone. If he’d been more careful then, noticing he hadn’t taken precautions, Ruan Li wouldn’t have had to be pregnant at this point, which could impact her career.

Over the past few months, Ruan Li had developed feelings for the baby growing inside her. She quickly covered Fu Huaizhou’s mouth. “Stop saying that. He can hear you. If he finds out someone didn’t want him to be born, he might get upset.”

Fu Huaizhou couldn’t help but laugh.

“Who would have thought we’d hit the mark in just one try…” Ruan Li said helplessly. She’d vaguely felt they hadn’t taken any precautions, but at the time, she didn’t think it would be an issue.

Fu Huaizhou stood up, grabbed a towel from the side table, and completely wrapped her up to keep her from catching a chill. His tone was slightly different.

“Maybe it’s because I’m particularly good at it.”

Ruan Li looked at him in disbelief. She decided she would never call Shi Xun vain again apparently, all men were like this, even the usually composed Fu Huaizhou.

“What’s that?” Fu Huaizhou pointed at some bottles on the nightstand.

Ruan Li glanced over. “Cream for my belly, to prevent stretch marks.”

Fu Huaizhou suddenly fell silent, and Ruan Li noticed his odd expression. She leaned closer to see his face. “What’s wrong?”

His sudden mood change made her almost think he was the one who was pregnant.

“Nothing,” Fu Huaizhou said, turning his head to look at her fluffy little head as he gently rubbed it. His voice was tinged with apology. “It just seems like the cost of pregnancy is too high.”

Someone who always took pride in her appearance now had to deal with a year of her waist thickening, not to mention the various other possible issues. Even her favorite clothes, skincare products, and perfumes were all off limits due to the pregnancy.

Ruan Li understood his feelings, but she had already come to terms with these changes when she decided to keep the baby. She lay back on the bed casually, her pale feet nudging Fu Huaizhou’s stomach.

“So, to meet my demands, you need to earn a lot.”

“Do you know how much that little bottle costs?” She intended to tease him a bit.

Without even looking up, Fu Huaizhou casually said a number.

“Millions.”

Ruan Li was speechless. She kicked him lightly. “It’s just skincare oil, not petroleum no need to exaggerate.”

Her tone made Fu Huaizhou laugh. He grabbed her ankle playfully, his voice warm. “I can afford whatever you need. Even if you have another little money eater like you, I’d still manage.”

Then, he reached for the bottle, gently placing Ruan Li’s head on his lap. “Come here, let me apply it.”

“Do you even know how?” Ruan Li was doubtful. Usually, she did it herself or had a servant help.

Fu Huaizhou, recalling the pregnancy care guides he’d been reading ever since before he went abroad, warmed the cream in his hands. “Why don’t you lie down and find out?”

Half-skeptical, Ruan Li lay down. His hands were much warmer than hers, and his gentle movements spread heat across her belly it felt comforting.

“Wow… you actually know what you’re doing,” she said, pleasantly surprised.

Fu Huaizhou carefully applied the lotion over her belly and then reached for the special body lotion she had bought for pregnant women, handling it all on her behalf.

Ruan Li was only wearing a nightgown, and as he moved to lift it up to reach her shoulders, she quickly pressed down on his hand.

“I can do this part myself.”

Fu Huaizhou, who had been perfectly composed, suddenly had a shift in his tone. “Are you sure you don’t need my help?”

Ruan Li grabbed the lotion and turned her back to him to apply it on herself.

“The doctor said you need to rest, or you might not heal properly.”

“What kind of recovery are you talking about?” Fu Huaizhou’s gaze was intent, as if wondering if she thought his fall had somehow made him… less capable.

“I remember you were hit pretty hard. Who knows if there’s some hidden issue? Otherwise, why would the doctor tell you to take it easy?” Ruan Li teased him mercilessly, taking advantage of her pregnancy immunity.

Fu Huaizhou caught her implied challenge. His eyes darkened, and he spoke slowly.

“That counts as one. When you’ve fully recovered, we’ll test it three times over.”
