Chapter 17: Miao Miao Feels Sorry

He Shun pondered over who this man was—whether he had a family, how many concubines he had, and all that was still unknown. They couldn’t be too hasty in making decisions.

He Shun asked, “What does Miao Miao mean?”

Zhang Guihua replied, “I tested her today. That girl might still be hurt from being rejected by Wu Cheng, so she isn’t ready to think about these matters yet.”

He Shun nodded, “Regardless, Ah Xun can’t stay at Miao Miao’s house any longer. I’ll go talk to them about it.”

The next morning, Zhang Guihua first went to her family’s old house. Since her parents were gone, the house stood empty, and she wanted to tidy it up so that Ah Xun could move in.

Meanwhile, He Shun headed to Miao Miao’s house to discuss things with them. 

“Miao Miao, are you home?” He Shun called from outside the yard.

Miao Miao heard the voice and came out to open the door, smiling brightly, “Uncle, you’re here!”

“Yes, I’m here to see you.” He Shun nodded and followed Miao Miao into the yard.

When Ah Xun saw He Shun had arrived, he stood up to greet him, “Uncle Shun.”

He Shun nodded back, but suddenly saw Ah Xun butchering a chicken and felt surprised. “Oh my, where did this big chicken come from?”

“Ah Xun shot it in the forest last night; it’s really plump! I was planning to stew it with some beans and mushrooms for dinner and deliver half to my uncle’s house,” Miao Miao explained.

“Wow, that’s great! Ah Xun caught this chicken? He has that kind of skill?” 

“Yes! He’s amazing!”
