Chapter 50: Cherishing the Morning with Nora

It was early morning.

Reiner suddenly felt that something was missing from his arms.

He groped across the bed and found nothing, so he unwillingly opened his eyes.

It was so early, yet Nora was nowhere to be seen, and he lay alone on the bed.

Nora’s side of the bed had already been tidied up.

Reiner asked knowingly, “Why aren’t you leaving?”

“Is Nora in your room?”

“Of course.”

The moment he finished speaking, a certain sharp-toothed little cat bit his buttocks.

He hurriedly corrected himself. “Actually, no. She went out with Junice first thing this morning. Hasn’t she come back?”

“No. Since when is she so close to Junice?” Martina asked in confusion.

“I don’t know; maybe they just bonded all of a sudden.” Reiner shrugged.

“Oh, all right then.” Martina closed the door.

After making sure she had gone, Nora crawled out from under the covers and dressed quickly.

A few marks Reiner had left were still on her body, especially the hickey clearly visible on her neck.

“Why hide it from her? It makes it look shameful.” Reiner poked her cheek. “She might already know.”

He guessed Martina would surely grill Nora about last night.

“I just don’t want to tell her, or she’ll laugh at me later… I got up earlier than she did, and she didn’t see me just now, so it’ll be easy to fool her. I’ll climb out the window in a bit, then pretend to knock on the door…”

Reiner said solemnly, “Isn’t it possible your mom already told her? She likes to hang out with you, and if you vanish first thing in the morning, she’s bound to ask.”

Daisy petted her beast ears indulgently, though her expression looked complicated.

(My sweet daughter has become a woman too. I hope her choice is right and that she won’t suffer the same fate as me…)

Reiner got up to wash.

While he ate breakfast, Martina, who sat opposite him, kept staring.

After their eyes met, she gave him a knowing smile.

(How is Reiner still so spirited? He doesn’t look exhausted at all; he’s rather manly.)

Hearing her inner voice, Reiner could not help but chuckle.

A few rounds were hardly enough to keep him bedridden.

After finishing breakfast, Reiner took the two of them out again.

He intended to study earth magic seriously today.
