Chapter 64: Acquiring a Magic Eye
On the way to the ruins, Nora kept looking around.
Her small hand kept rubbing at her left eye.
“Alright, stop rubbing your eye with your hand, bear with it, or I’ll rinse it with water,” Reiner said as he grabbed her left hand.
Junice, holding her staff, agreed from the side, “Yes, don’t keep rubbing your eyes with your hands or you’ll get dirt in them.”
Nora resolutely scratched with her right hand and kept muttering, “But it’s so itchy…”
“Since you said your vision is slowly recovering, stop rubbing it with your hand to avoid affecting your sight. Martina, hold her right hand.”
“Okay!”
The two of them each grabbed one of Nora’s hands and restrained her.
Reiner then used Appraisal on her.
【Name: Nora Hill
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Race: Demi-human Catfolk
Current Status: Healthy, Magic Eye Awakened】
A Magic Eye, what kind of thing was that?
Reiner quickly moved in front of Nora, pried open her eyelid and examined it carefully.
Her left eye had been blue a moment ago but was now changing from the inside out, gradually turning golden yellow.
It was exactly like in his dream!
A Persian cat!
Reiner lowered his voice and asked, “Junice, what is a Magic Eye?”
“A Magic Eye? It is a special eye that awakens after birth that has many unique capabilities, such as briefly seeing the future, perceiving the flow of mana, or enhancing the carrier’s Strength.”
She suddenly switched to the demi-human tongue: “Magic Eyes are extremely rare in this world. Nora has awakened one?”
Reiner nodded lightly.
She continued in the demi-human tongue with a very serious tone, “You must keep this matter strictly confidential and avoid letting anyone know, or you may attract unnecessary trouble.”
She added, “Magic Eyes may contain extremely terrifying powers, and many powerful lords will covet them, but I will help you keep it secret.”
“Thank you.”
She hurried in front of Nora and carefully examined her changed eye.
“It’s my first time seeing a Magic Eye with my own eyes. It’s really beautiful,” Junice said, her eyes shining as she nearly pressed her face right up against it.
Reiner suddenly noticed.
Nora’s status panel had changed.
【Name: Nora Hill

Endurance: D
Agility: S
Perception: S
Spirit: D → B
Intelligence: B
Current Slave Quality: Epic → Legendary】
Reiner narrowed his eyes and wondered what abilities this Magic Eye possessed that could instantly raise Nora to the same level as Martina.
“Do you feel any changes in your body?”
Nora blinked and said earnestly, “My eye doesn’t itch anymore.”
“Anything else?”
“No.”
Nora nodded and then pulled a mithril dagger from her waist.
Reiner had bought this dagger for her yesterday, and since they were heading to the ruins, wearing mithril gear could help her resist the erosion of evil whispers to some extent.
This small dagger had cost him a full twenty gold coins.
Reiner now only had thirteen gold coins left in his pocket.
She used the smooth, polished blade as a mirror and said, “My eye color changed, and it feels strange.”
“It’s quite pretty, just like a gemstone,” Reiner complimented.
“Oh.” Nora’s face flushed slightly as she bowed her head and put the dagger away.
(As long as Master likes it, that’s fine.)
Reiner rubbed her ears vigorously and whispered, “No matter what powers your Magic Eye holds, do not use it in front of others, or you might bring yourself mortal danger, understand?”
“Only use it in secret.”
Nora nodded vigorously, committing Reiner’s words to heart.
Reiner patted Martina beside him and said, “What about you?”
“What? Is it time to eat?” Martina said as she lifted her mask.
It seemed she had been spacing out and hadn’t heard anything.
“Never mind. After we return, let’s have a one-on-one duel.”
“I can win using just one hand.”
Reiner rolled his eyes.
Soon the group arrived at the Southern Ruins.
Dimas peeked at Reiner, and seeing he was ready, immediately activated the magitech stone.
In an instant, everyone entered the pitch-black ruins.
Reiner and Junice ignited flames in silent coordination.
After thinking for a moment, Reiner placed his helmet on Nora’s head and said, “You wear this helmet; it should protect your Spirit from erosion.”
She was so small that the helmet sat loosely on her head, at least a size too wide.
Nora lifted her mask and asked softly.
“What about you, Master?”
“My Spirit resistance is much stronger than yours. Anyway, when I was hit, I was only dazed for two or three seconds, so I’m fine.”
Although Reiner couldn’t see his own attributes, it stood to reason that the higher the Spirit, the stronger the resistance.
And Spirit is linked to the magic Talent.
Reiner could use five types of magic, and with such a huge mana crystal, his Spirit Talent was certainly not low.
No matter what, it should be at least an S.
“Master, you are my family,” Nora said as she took off the helmet and stood on tiptoe to put it on Reiner.
(I must protect Master.)
I have to admit, this little one always manages to say things that make my heart skip a beat.
“When we return, let’s take a bath together.”
Nora’s face flushed again, and she slyly glanced at Martina and Junice before finally nodding and saying, “Okay!”
The group moved slowly through the ruins.
Reiner saw that many of the militia who had died last time had become ghouls.
Their flesh had been almost completely devoured, yet their bodies were unnaturally agile, allowing them to attack the group from all angles.
Nora’s perception was exceptional, and she always anticipated their positions in advance.
Meanwhile, Reiner kept warning the knights around him.
A random knight raised his shield and asked Reiner, “You must be Reiner, right?”
“Yes, my lord,” Reiner replied, mimicking Junice’s tone.
During this time, he realized that if he wanted to make a name for himself in this other world, he had to maintain good relations with these knights.
“Lord Dimas holds you in high regard. He said you are an outstanding mage, and the two demi-humans traveling with you are also excellent.”
“My lord, you flatter me.”
“Don’t be too modest. I have witnessed your magic, and its astonishing power is deeply imprinted in my memory. I have great expectations for you.”
At that moment, Nora patted Reiner’s shoulder and said, “Master, it’s coming.”
A swarm of bats swooped down in front of them down the street.
At the same time, the runes on everyone’s armor slowly glowed, and their armor emitted a holy light.
The bats caught in the holy light were instantly killed and reduced to ash.
“Reiner!” Dimas shouted.
No sooner had he spoken than a Fireball for illumination shot down the street, temporarily dispelling the darkness.
Thirty skeletal knights were slowly advancing toward the group.
The moment the darkness was dispelled, they broke into a sprint.
The leading skeletal knight was enormous, over three meters tall, and wielded a large sword that looked remarkably familiar.
Martina yelled, “Reiner! That sword is mine! It stole my things! I’m going to kill it!”
With that, she drew the longsword at her waist, seemingly eager to charge forward.
“Then it’s all yours. Be careful, no matter what.”
