Chapter 68: Martina Began to Ponder
“Thank you,” Junice said as she took the warm water Daisy handed her, sipped it lightly, and then looked around before adding, “Reiner, your house is so neat; it’s nothing like I imagined.”
“Ever since I ‘bought’ Nora’s mother and brought her here, it’s been like this; she’s a diligent woman,” Reiner said earnestly.
Daisy gave a slight bow and said, “It’s all my duty.”
Just as the two of them were enjoying their conversation, Martina finally emerged from the small partition.
With Nora’s help she had finished her bath and was now dressed in clean, tidy clothes.
Martina thought, “He actually didn’t come to find me; I should go apologize to him later…”
Reiner instinctively looked up at her, and their eyes met.
Martina slipped straight into her room.
She looked tall and sturdy, her body having matured at nineteen years old, yet her mind remained as innocent as a child’s.
During this time, Reiner observed that Martina’s world consisted of only three things: sleeping, eating, and monster hunting.
Most of the time she was straightforward, except when she felt shy.
Reiner greeted Junice and then hurried to Martina’s room, knocked twice, and pushed the door open.
Martina lay quietly on the bed, glanced at Reiner, and asked, “What are you doing?”
They looked at each other, and neither spoke.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Reiner began with a compliment, “I came here to spar with you; you were amazing just now… if I hadn’t been lucky, I might have lost.”
Flattered, she immediately lifted her chin slightly and said, “Of course! I knew your earthquake spell wasn’t fully mastered and required chanting beforehand, so I seized every muddy chance to shut you up, but who knew you could cast without chanting already… I miscalculated…”
Reiner was momentarily stunned.
All the little intelligence she possessed had been devoted to fighting.
Martina continued, “You’re powerful too… definitely stronger than me; I surely wouldn’t win in a real fight.”
After this exchange of compliments, Reiner decisively said, “Let’s call a truce, then.”
Martina paused in surprise and then said, “Reiner, I’m sorry; it was me who threw the mud first. Also, do whatever you want with me… I will honor my promise.” She shrank back into the corner of the bed and looked at him quietly.
Her earnest apology looked just like a child’s.
Reiner had harbored some impure thoughts, but seeing her like this made him feel a pang of guilt.
So he thought for a moment and then instructed, “Then let me touch your tail.”
Martina’s face instantly turned bright red.
She bit her lower lip tightly, her mind wracked with indecision.
She thought, “Well, I lost fair and square; this will serve as my punishment for being outmatched.”
Martina got up, closed the door and the window behind her, then sat on the edge of the bed and lifted her tail voluntarily, saying, “Go ahead and touch, but my tail isn’t interesting… it’s definitely not as fun as Nora’s.”
Reiner reached out and tentatively ran his fingers through her tail, then gave it a gentle tug.
It felt nothing like Nora’s cat tail.
A horse’s tail was relatively stiff and sturdy, and the hair on it was almost indistinguishable from human hair.
It really wasn’t as fun as Nora’s.
But whenever he watched her tail sway from side to side behind her, Reiner always felt the urge to grab a handful.
Yet when he actually felt it, it was just so-so.
“Just touching your tail isn’t enough.”
Martina asked bashfully, “What else do you want?”
Reiner looked at her flushed cheeks, and in that moment, his affection for her reached its peak.
After thinking for a moment, Reiner made a bold decision: “Martina, be my woman… I want to give you a home.”
The room fell into complete silence.
Martina stared at Reiner, her mind completely blank.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?”
She said nothing, but her cheeks grew even redder.
After thinking deeply, she suddenly stood up and said, “You… it would be despicable if you used this chance to force me into that kind of thing. Although I respect you very much, Reiner, these things… you cannot impose them on someone.”
Reiner sized her up head to toe.
To be honest, with Martina’s physique, if she really didn’t want it, seven or eight people wouldn’t be able to hold her down.
If someone wanted her, they would have to make her willing on her own.
Reiner quipped, “Force you? If you really didn’t want it, you’d likely clamp down on me so hard you’d snap something; you could break my bones with just a little force.”
Martina’s face turned even redder; she had talked about these matters with Nora and knew exactly what that meant.
Reiner tentatively took her hand and asked solemnly, “So, are you willing?”
Martina was slightly stunned and hurriedly pulled her hand away.
She became flustered from nerves and babbled, “I… I- I- should I be willing?”
In the end, her mind completely short-circuited.
Martina, nearly 1.8 meters tall, ultimately dove under the covers to hide.
Unexpectedly, the usually carefree girl’s first reaction to this situation was to run away.
Having eavesdropped on her thoughts for so long, he had assumed she would either decisively refuse or accept, but instead she reacted like this.
The contrast was simply too great.
He had just teased Nora for her hesitance, yet now her performance was even worse.
“What do you mean by hiding? Agree or refuse… isn’t it just a matter of saying a single sentence?”
She shouted from beneath the covers, “I don’t know either, Reiner! Go away and let me think for myself…”
No sooner had she said that than she regretted it.
Her thoughts drifted into Reiner’s ears: “What am I saying? I must be crazy! Isn’t this exactly what I’ve always dreamed of? Food to fill my stomach, a warm soft bed, and a man who understands me… Why can’t I just be honest?”
Hearing Martina’s inner voice, Reiner felt she was about to explode.
He silently left the room, wanting to give her some time to calm down alone.
Afterwards, he took Nora, who had been chatting with Junice, by the hand and brought her into the room.
“Master, are you really planning to do this?”
Nora’s perception was keen; nothing happening in the house could escape her ears.
“Do you agree?”
Nora nodded emphatically and said, “Of course. Martina is a wonderful woman, and I hope Master will treat her well, just as he treats me, since she has no other family.”
As demi-humans, as long as the capacity exists, it’s quite common for one male to have multiple females, and I don’t object to that.
Furthermore, Master is overwhelming for me alone; with Martina to share the load, I would be very happy.
With Endurance D and Perception S, it was indeed a major flaw; she would burn out after just two strikes.
Reiner gently held her in his arms.
“Master, should I help you?”
“No, let her decide on her own,” Reiner said as he stroked her head.
“Okay, I’ll do as you say…”
