“After Conceiving the Heir, She Became Arrogant with Her Child” Chapter 57

Chapter 57: An Added Piece of Evidence

Slowly lifting her eyes to look at her, Banxia remained calm and composed, her head buried in her food.

Xiao Ling couldn’t figure out who the Miss wanted to take her to see. But at this point, she had no other choice.

The two ate in silence.

Facing a table full of delicious food, Xiao Ling found it hard to swallow. Every bite felt like chewing wax.

Mainly, she still held a shred of kindness in her heart, so she felt guilty facing Lin Banxia. After all, the Lin family had treated her well.

After lunch, Xiao Ling followed Banxia to the living room.

“Xiao Ling, come with me upstairs.” With that, she turned and walked towards the stairs, her aura radiating the presence of the War family’s mistress, though she didn’t flaunt it.

Wasn’t she supposed to take her to see someone?

Why go upstairs?

Was there something else to be said?

Watching her go upstairs, Xiao Ling could only follow with a heavy heart. She couldn’t fathom the other woman’s thoughts. Before, she had respected Miss Lin, but now, that respect was laced with a hint of fear.

Because she sensed that Miss Lin wouldn’t let Yang Yiming and Xie Yueru  off easily.

Following her upstairs, Banxia didn’t stop at the second floor but continued towards the third. Xiao Ling couldn’t help but feel confused again. The bedrooms were on the second floor…

Could it be… that the person she was going to see was on the third floor?

Xiao Ling continued to follow behind Lin Banxia, not even daring to breathe. Her mind was in chaos.

Until she saw Lin Banxia stop in front of a closed door on the third floor and turn back to look at her.

Xiao Ling stopped as well.

Lin Banxia reached out and opened the door, saying softly, “Come in.”

Xiao Ling walked in with her. In the spacious and bright room, a thin man sat in a wheelchair by the window, wearing a dark blue outfit, his hair neatly trimmed.

Several nurses in white coats saw them enter and quickly bowed. “Miss Lin.”

Banxia simply gestured with her hand, and they bent over and retreated, gently closing the door behind them.

From the moment she entered, Xiao Ling’s gaze had been fixed on the man’s back in the wheelchair. Who was he?

Mr. Lin? It didn’t seem like it… This man wasn’t that old.

Banxia stepped forward, grasped the back of the wheelchair, and gently turned it. When Xiao Ling saw Ming Shu’s familiar yet sickly face, she gasped in shock and covered her mouth!

“Uncle Ming?” The girl’s eyes were filled with disbelief.

Lin Banxia’s gaze remained fixed on her, observing her changing expressions, thus penetrating her inner thoughts, seeing if she could ultimately be used by her.

“Uncle Ming.” It took Xiao Ling a few seconds to accept this fact. She slowly released her hand from covering her mouth and took a few steps forward…

Slowly squatting down in front of the wheelchair, she finally discovered something unusual –

Uncle Ming’s open eyes were unfocused. He sat like a puppet, as if he wasn’t awake.

Xiao Ling’s chest tightened a little. She looked up at Banxia, “Uncle Ming, what’s wrong with him?” There was shock in her voice, as well as worry.

Banxia’s memory went back six years. She looked out the window and quietly told her –

“One afternoon six years ago, I was taking a nap…”

Recalling that day’s experience, her heart ached as if it were being torn apart.

Ever since her father married his stepmother, she had always been supportive, treating them with the utmost sincerity. As the eldest daughter in the family, she even thought about taking care of them in their old age.

Unexpectedly, they wanted to kill her, not even sparing the child in her womb.

Banxia simply told Xiao Ling about how Uncle Ming discovered something was wrong that day and desperately rescued her.

Xiao Ling was terrified by the calm tone.

Her body, which had been squatting in front of the wheelchair, stiffened. Her eyes were filled with anger and shock. This… was too cruel.

“I always treated Xie Yueru  as my own mother, but she couldn’t stand me.” Lin Banxia’s voice was icy and piercing. “She also wanted to drive my grandparents to their deaths.”

It was the same day…

Xiao Ling’s thoughts were still stuck on what she said – Uncle Ming was beaten to the ground by the people who chased him out, beaten until he spat blood… yet he still protected her.

“To lure me out, they tortured Uncle Ming for so many years.” Banxia was truly heartbroken. “If they really cared about treating him, they wouldn’t have spared any expense to place medical advertisements abroad. How could they not cure him?”

“When I rescued Uncle Ming, he was already on the verge of death… He trembled at the sight of humans. You can imagine the mental torture he endured over the years, which has caused a conditioned reflex.”

Xiao Ling, who still held a glimmer of kindness in her heart, burst into tears after hearing these words. She tightly bit her lower lip and held Uncle Ming’s hand.

“Uncle Ming, it’s Xiao Ling, Xiao Ling…”

“Do you remember? Seven years ago, when Xiao Ling first entered the Lin family, one time I went out to buy something. It was summer, and I went to play by the riverbank for a while. I was chased by a mad dog.”

“I happened to meet you, Uncle Ming…” Xiao Ling was heartbroken. “Uncle Ming, you fought the mad dog with your bare hands to protect me. It even bit you…”

This incident had moved Xiao Ling deeply at the time, so even after seven years, she still remembered it.

“Uncle Ming…” Her call went unanswered.

Lin Banxia listened to her sorrowful voice, and tears welled up in her eyes. She looked out the window, her vision blurred, and remained silent for a long time.

Letting Xiao Ling process her emotions, Banxia turned around a moment later, a tear rolling down her cheek. She stepped out, leaving Xiao Ling alone in front of Uncle Ming’s wheelchair, kneeling and repenting.

“Uncle Ming, I was too weak… otherwise, everyone wouldn’t have ended up like this.”

“Uncle Ming… I’m sorry.”

Little Master, there’s more to this chapter, please continue reading. It gets even more exciting!

After an unknown amount of time, the door behind them opened and Xiao Ling came out, wiping away her tears.

Lin Banxia turned to look at her, still saying nothing.

“Miss,” Xiao Ling said as if she had made a decision, “I’m willing to testify. Xie Yueru asked me to avoid the fire that day, and she told me over the phone. My phone has an automatic recording function.”

Upon hearing this, a glimmer of light flashed in Banxia’s eyes. “Really?” Now they had not only a witness but also physical evidence.

“Yes, really.” Xiao Ling nodded. “It’s the phone you took away. Although it’s a bit slow, I’m used to it, so… I haven’t changed it.”

Lin Banxia took her downstairs, grabbed the phone, unlocked it, and opened it. Sure enough, she found the recording from six years ago. Banxia listened to Xie Yueru’s voice, unable to contain her joy!

“This phone is yours.” Xiao Ling felt guilty. She didn’t know how to make up for it.

Banxia suddenly softened a little towards Xiao Ling, feeling a bit regretful for slapping her last night. She looked at her and patted her shoulder lightly. “Thank you.”

Xiao Ling lowered her head in guilt. Now that she had settled down here, Banxia didn’t want to make any more mistakes.

Uncle Ming’s new prescription had shown improvement. Yang Yiming and Xie Yueru had done terrible things, and the evidence was almost all gathered.

Taking them down was just around the corner.

Thinking about how efficient Young Master Zhan was, Banxia wanted to speed up Uncle Ming’s recovery. So, she went to the study alone.

She sat at the desk for a long time, recalling the scene of her escape six years ago… the face of the taxi driver.

He was Uncle Ming’s younger brother. If they could find him, it would be beneficial to Uncle Ming’s recovery.
