Chapter 13: It All Started on a Dark and Windy Night
The netizens in the live stream were momentarily stunned.
【Oh my god, this guy’s profile looks so much like Mianmian!】
【Are they related by blood? Their noses are really similar!】
【Mianmian’s father passed away early, and his mother remarried and abandoned him. Where would he have any relatives?】
【Is the production team trying to stir up drama? What’s the meaning of pairing a rookie with Mianmian? Are they trying to ride on his popularity?】
【This is clearly trying to leech off Mianmian’s fame! Using his popularity to climb up, isn’t that a bit too much?】
The reactions from the fans in the live stream varied, but Ji Ansheng managed to achieve a high level of exposure through this scene.
The related trending hashtags were already prepared and quickly shot up to the top of the hot search list.
#Doppelganger Movie Emperor#
#Showbiz Twins?#
#Rookie Ji Ansheng#
The number of viewers in the live stream surged, with many curious netizens joining in to watch the commotion.
Lin Xingmian glanced down at him. The young man’s hand remained suspended in mid-air, showing no signs of retreating.
The entertainment industry is different from ordinary workplaces. Almost all artists undergo basic etiquette training before their debut, and it’s usually the senior who initiates a handshake.
Had he not received any training? Or was this a deliberate provocation?
But under the camera, even if it was a provocation, he had to respond.
Lin Xingmian’s expression remained calm. Just as he was about to shake his hand, a slender hand casually slapped Ji Ansheng’s palm away.
“Hi! Can’t you see me? I’ve been waiting for a while, and you haven’t acknowledged me. Do people outside the entertainment industry not deserve names?” The man squinted slightly, scrutinizing the Omega in front of him.
A flash of annoyance crossed Ji Ansheng’s eyes, but he maintained a sweet smile on his face. “Of course not, I know you. You’re Mr. Jiang, right? Teacher Lin’s partner.”
“Mr. Jiang looks so good, you could even enter the entertainment industry~”
“Hmm.” Jiang Zijin crossed his arms and nodded unceremoniously.
“I heard you just got married recently. Why didn’t you prepare for the wedding and instead came to join a variety show?” Ji Ansheng asked curiously.
Jiang Zijin raised his eyes, his brow slightly arched.
“Then why are you, a rookie actor, not joining a drama set but coming to a variety show instead?”
“We’re a legally married couple. We can have our wedding whenever we want. What’s it to you?”
Ji Ansheng’s expression darkened, his brows drooping, and his eyes welling up with tears. “Mr. Jiang, I didn’t mean it that way. I was just asking out of curiosity.”
Jiang Zijin widened his eyes in shock, taking two steps back. “Don’t cry! What do you mean? I’m just a little foreigner, my Chinese isn’t good. Don’t set me up. I’ve already been through a round of online bullying when I got together with Mianmian.”
【Hahaha, little foreigner, Chinese isn’t good. I’m pretty sure you’re doing this on purpose!】
【LOL, who dares to bully you now! Brother Jiang’s family is powerful. Anything posted would be deleted the next second.】
【Why is Ji Ansheng crying? Jiang Zijin didn’t even say anything harsh!】
【Omegas are more sensitive. Everyone should be more understanding.】
【Is your Omega a sprinkler? Press it and water comes out? Crying at the start of the show!】
【Take a look at the Omega singer next door. She’s working hard and doing great. Someone with only one work dares to buy a Doppelganger Movie Emperor hashtag! How embarrassing!】
Ji Ansheng’s eyes were filled with tears. Now, he couldn’t decide whether to cry or not.
Ji Ansheng sniffled and quietly sat back down in the central chair, looking both frustrated and aggrieved.
As an Omega, fragility and tears were their best weapons, a tried-and-true method. But why didn’t it work on this Enigma?
Jiang Zijin didn’t pay any attention to Ji Ansheng’s state. Cheerfully, he took Lin Xingmian’s hand and casually found a seat to sit down.
“Are you afraid of online bullying?” Lin Xingmian glanced at him but didn’t pull his hand away.
Although Jiang Zijin was young, after spending so much time together, Lin Xingmian had discovered that Jiang Zijin had his own way of handling things.
He might seem like a lazy rich kid, but having built his success from scratch, he actually had quite a strong mental resilience.
Jiang Zijin tightened his grip, pressing Lin Xingmian’s hand against his chest, and said with deep affection, “No, I’m just afraid of losing you~”
Lin Xingmian closed his eyes in despair, took a deep breath, and mustered all his strength to keep from pulling his hand away.
“…That’s enough.”
Jiang Zijin chuckled softly and obediently let go of his hand.
Ji Ansheng, sitting nearby, was so grossed out by their display that he shuddered violently.
At that moment, the door to the private waiting room was pushed open, and a man with a delicate appearance, dressed in a beige sweater, appeared at the entrance.
Behind him was a relatively tall man with a buzz cut, wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket, looking particularly cool.
“Hello, I’m Qin Mu,” the man in the beige sweater nodded to the people in the room.
Lin Xingmian stood up, pulling Jiang Zijin with him, to welcome him.
Ji Ansheng also clapped, but his gaze went past Qin Mu and landed on the buzz-cut man.
Compared to Qin Mu, the sci-fi writer, He Yuean, the international director, was far more famous.
He Yuean took off his sunglasses, his surprised gaze shifting between Lin Xingmian and Ji Ansheng.
“Oh, Lin Xingmian, when did you get a younger brother?”
He Yuean had worked with Lin Xingmian before, and the two were familiar, so he spoke directly.
Lin Xingmian smiled helplessly, “His name is Ji Ansheng, a junior. He’s supposed to be our travel assistant, so from now on, he’s my younger brother.”
He Yuean nodded in understanding and extended his hand to Ji Ansheng, “We’ll be traveling together from now on, younger brother Ansheng.”
Ji Ansheng’s eyelashes lowered slightly, as if lost in thought.
After a moment, he raised a smile and shook He Yuean’s hand, “Hello, senior. I’ve seen your…”
Ji Ansheng quickly struck up a conversation with He Yuean, while Qin Mu quietly took a seat beside Lin Xingmian.
Qin Mu didn’t know Lin Xingmian and was so nervous that he kept tugging at his sweater, pulling out bits of white fluff.
A faint chestnut scent drifted to his nose.
Lin Xingmian glanced at him and initiated the conversation, “Congratulations, Mr. Qin. Your book, *Anchor of Love’s Gravity*, was published last week, right?”
Qin Mu turned his head, looking at Lin Xingmian with surprise, “Yes, have you read my book?”
“I’ve read it in my spare time. The fusion of multiple worlds and the butterfly effect was brilliantly done,” Lin Xingmian nodded with a faint smile.
Qin Mu couldn’t help but curl his lips, about to say something, but his attention was caught by the movement of Lin Xingmian’s right hand.
The person behind Lin Xingmian, like a clingy large dog, kept drawing something on Lin Xingmian’s palm. Lin Xingmian tried to swat his hand away several times, but the person behind him persisted in bothering him.
As if noticing Qin Mu’s gaze, Lin Xingmian stopped resisting.
The slender hand grew bolder, slipping between Lin Xingmian’s fingers and interlocking them tightly.
“Is this your lover?” Qin Mu’s gaze fell on Jiang Zijin’s face, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes. “He’s very handsome, and you two make a great match.”
“You have good taste,” Jiang Zijin chimed in from behind, giving him a thumbs-up.
Qin Mu hadn’t expected him to be this kind of person and couldn’t help but laugh. He then asked, “How did you two meet?”
Their personalities were quite different, and he was genuinely curious about how they had ended up together.
Lin Xingmian was momentarily stunned, not having prepared an answer, but Jiang Zijin was the first to speak.
Jiang Zijin glanced at Lin Xingmian and smirked, “Well, it all started on a dark and stormy night…”
