After Crossing, I Escaped with the Ball in my Hand Chapter 4

Chapter 4: The Personal Space

As soon as Luo Qi Qi entered her room, she couldn’t contain her excitement and immediately flashed into her space.

A white light flickered, and when she opened her eyes, she found herself surrounded by neatly arranged shelves.

Each shelf was fully stocked.

A food section, a living supplies section, a clothing section, a medical section… Oh my god! It’s all still here!

No, there’s even more than before! There are even firearms!

The surprise came so suddenly that it left her breathless.

After a long moment of absorbing the shock, Luo Qi Qi finally managed to calm her racing heart.

No wonder she was so excited. With these firearms, Luo Qi Qi now had a much more secure way to survive in this unpredictable world.

Although Luo Qi Qi had decent skills in her past life, she knew all too well that survival here would not be easy.

In a world filled with internal martial arts and lightness kung fu, her skills wouldn’t be nearly enough.

But now, with firearms in hand, could she perhaps rule this world? Hahahaha!

She thought about it for a moment, then remembered—Wait, I still prefer a peaceful life.

In the apocalyptic world, peace had been impossible, but now that she was here, maybe fate had given her a chance to realize her dream!

In the future, she would find a secluded paradise to live in—this was the ideal life she had always wanted.

Walking through the shelves, she noticed that the white mist that had once enveloped the space had dissipated quite a bit.

Luo Qi Qi realized that the space seemed to have expanded. The mist that used to act like a barrier had cleared up, revealing a stretch of dark, fertile land.

Can I plant things here now? She thought to herself. If I can plant, I could have fresh food anytime.

Although the space was amazing, it had only ever been used for storing food and other items. She would need to test it out herself to know for sure, especially since in the past, the space hadn’t been able to sustain any living creatures.

Wait, what’s that?

She moved closer to a green plant and saw a freshly sprouted seedling with a thick, plump leaf floating in mid-air.

Isn’t this the seed I picked up at the scientific plant park earlier? Luo Qi Qi was shocked. How did it sprout?

This was definitely puzzling. Could it be that the space was finally able to sustain living things?

Luo Qi Qi immediately decided to investigate further.

Since there were no living creatures in the space, her only hope was to see if there were any other seeds around.

Wait a minute!

The sprouted seed was floating in mid-air. Could it even be planted?

Determined to find out, Luo Qi Qi decided to run a little experiment.

Without hesitation, she focused her energy and scanned the corners of the space. Sure enough, she found a dusty bag of seeds that had been there for who knows how long.

Luo Qi Qi couldn’t help but admire her habit of picking up discarded things. It’s a good thing I’m always grabbing random stuff—who knows when it’ll come in handy?

Looking at the pile of things she’d collected, most people would have thrown them away without a second glance. But with such a large space, she had plenty of room to store all of it.

After picking up the bag of seeds, Luo Qi Qi crouched down and scattered the seeds onto the newly revealed plot of land. In an instant, the seeds vanished from sight.

Luo Qi Qi blinked. Wait, what just happened? Did the space just absorb the seeds?

So I can’t plant anything after all? She sighed in disappointment. What a waste of a whole bag of cabbage seeds.

Just as she was about to shrug it off, a mocking voice suddenly echoed in her ears.

“Heh, foolish woman!”

Luo Qi Qi jumped in shock.

“How is there another voice in this space? Who’s talking?”

Luo Qi Qi looked around, but the space was empty. There was no one else in sight.

Then, the same juvenile voice echoed again.

“Where are you looking? I’m right here, in front of you!”

Luo Qi Qi couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“You don’t mean you’re the sprouting seed, do you?” she asked, her gaze fixed on the seed.

“You look like you’ve never seen anything before,” the voice retorted, sounding a bit arrogant.

“If it weren’t for me, you’d have been dead in that pile of zombies by now. Don’t you think you should thank me?”

Even without seeing the speaker’s expression, Luo Qi Qi could easily imagine the smug look on its face.

Luo Qi Qi crossed her arms and scoffed, “Just you, a little sprout? How could you possibly have done that?”

Seeing that Luo Qi Qi didn’t believe him, the voice grew agitated. The freshly grown leaf on the seed trembled with the emotion.

“You, you, you—how can you not believe me? It makes me so mad! You heartless woman!”

“Oh? Then tell me what you’ve done,” Luo Qi Qi said, her interest piqued.

At the mention of his actions, the “sprout” couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness.

He sulked. “I was in my dormant state, not knowing what was happening when you tossed me into this space. I woke up inexplicably and merged with this space.”

“Right after merging, I saw you being devoured by the zombies, and to save you, I forcibly pulled your soul out. Your body was already unusable, so I had to bring you through a time tunnel to this place. Unfortunately, we ran into a time storm, and in the end, my energy was exhausted, leaving me in this current state…”

Luo Qi Qi furrowed her brows. “No wonder I lost contact with the space for a while. It was because of you. If I hadn’t been cut off from the space, I wouldn’t have ended up like that.”

Not being able to access the space during the apocalypse had been fatal. She had only confided in Chu Yun Yue about it, but little did she expect…

Forget it, without her, Chu Yun Yue’s life would have been over eventually. She just didn’t get the chance to witness her fate.

“So, you’re saying you’ve merged with my space?”

“Does that mean you’re now part of the space?” Luo Qi Qi asked.

“Technically, I’m currently the spiritual vessel of this space,” the “sprout” proudly raised its small leaf and said with a sense of superiority.

“That means this space is created from my bloodline. I am the master of this space. So, shouldn’t you address me as ‘Master’?”

Luo Qi Qi remained calm.

The “sprout” was clearly getting irritated by her indifference.

After some inner turmoil, it said, “I am a Blood Vine. Unique to this world. I have an ancient bloodline, not some random weed by the roadside. I can’t just casually recognize someone as my master!”

The “sprout” spoke proudly, raising its fresh green “head.”

I’m a noble blood vine. You mere mortals want to make me your servant? Ridiculous!

Luo Qi Qi, with a calm expression, secretly rubbed her hands together. Sounds pretty impressive…

She thought for a moment and decided not to argue about it right now. There was plenty of time for that later!

“Alright, as the spiritual vessel of this space, you should know why the seeds disappeared just now, right?”

Luo Qi Qi asked.

“I think I know.” The “sprout” thought that Luo Qi Qi’s attitude was somewhat sincere (at least that’s what it thought).

And so, it explained, eager to show off its importance.

“The newly expanded land came into existence after I entered. In other words, it appeared because of me. It’s not that you can’t plant things in it, but it requires my energy to maintain it. The plants that grow there are not only edible but also beneficial to the body.”

It paused for a moment and then continued, “However, my energy is currently insufficient. I can’t maintain it, so whenever you plant something, it gets absorbed by the space. This only applies to plants, though. Once I recover, it won’t be like this anymore…”

By the end of its explanation, the “sprout” sounded a little discouraged.

Luo Qi Qi was puzzled. “So, how can you recover?”
