He was momentarily stunned and tried to withdraw his hand, but Song Yuanyuan gripped it tighter. “Dad, since I’m a newcomer, how about you help me finish today’s task?”
Yue Liangze: “…”
Ling Luo mocked, “Shameless.”
Song Yuanyuan continued, “Half would be fine, Dad!”
Yue Liangze struggled to pull his hand free and said, “You’ve got the wrong person.”
“Why are there outer sect disciples here?” Chang Fei, who was hanging from a chain, asked in confusion. “Which sect are you from?”
Yue Liangze lowered his gaze and said, “Tianyun Sect.”
“Isn’t that the same sect as Ling Luo? Ling Luo, do you know him?” Chang Fei looked at Ling Luo again.
Ling Luo snorted and, with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, said, “Of course I know him. This is my Senior Brother Yue.”
Senior Brother?
Song Yuanyuan quickly changed his tone, “Senior Brother! Yue Senior Brother! This time I didn’t get it wrong! I really can’t climb such a high wall. Senior Brother, please help me! What you did when you descended from the sky just now has even surpassed the Third Sect Master in my heart and made you the number one person in the Immortal Sect!”
Upon hearing this, Yue Liangze couldn’t help but glance at him.
Such flattery.
Ling Luo tossed the broom aside, then grabbed an iron chain and tested its strength. After that, she easily used the chain to climb up a long distance along the stone wall.
Chang Fei: “…”
The frustrating gap between people!
Xu Shen gripped the chain tightly. Alright, Ling Luo can do it, so I can too! I’ll try my best!
Yue Liangze raised his eyes to look at Ling Luo. Her control over the strength she used while climbing was perfect.
The stone wall had many indentations, making it easy for someone to step on them. Ling Luo made use of two of these, adding her balance, and moved up the wall with the ease of a fish swimming in water.
Song Yuanyuan stared in awe.
He wiped his eyes and shouted to Ling Luo, “Ling! Senior! Sister!”
Ling Luo stopped and turned back to look down, her face full of exasperation. “Are you seriously this shameless?”
“Who’s your Senior Sister!” she snapped.
“Senior Sister, Senior Brother, save me! I really can’t climb up! I’m afraid of heights! I’ll die!” Song Yuanyuan cried out.
Ling Luo rolled her eyes and ignored him, turning to climb higher up the stone wall.
She wasn’t going to lose to Yue Liangze.
Although the task was just to clean the iron doors of each cell, some of the doors were covered in bloodstains, making them look quite frightening.
Chang Fei and Xu Shen continued to climb. They were stronger than Song Yuanyuan and, after mastering the technique, weren’t as scared as before.
Only Song Yuanyuan was left…
His chubby hands gripped the iron chain, but he refused to climb higher. Yue Liangze stood beside him, teaching him how to climb and even demonstrating a few times.
Song Yuanyuan, trembling all over, hung about half a person’s height above the ground, crying out, “I can’t do it! I really can’t do it! Dad, save me!”
Yue Liangze: “…”
In the end, they compromised. Song Yuanyuan took care of the three lower levels, while Yue Liangze dealt with the ones higher up.
Song Yuanyuan was extremely grateful, his eyes teary as he watched Yue Liangze climb higher and higher. He shouted, “Dad! Keep going! It would be amazing if we could finish everything tonight!”
Yue Liangze thought this fatty really knew how to push his luck.
Song Yuanyuan cheered from the ground, and Chang Fei and Xu Shen slowly climbed. Their gap with Ling Luo was already wide, but as they climbed, they were slowly overtaken by Yue Liangze.
Xu Shen asked many questions, and Yue Liangze didn’t hold back, answering everything without hesitation.
Lingluo glanced back and listened intently. She realized he was quite skilled and had clearly gained experience from practice.
She climbed higher, and when she looked down, Song Yuanyuan had already become a tiny dot. From this height, if one fell, death would be certain.
Yue Liangze slowly caught up and reached the same height as her, and they weren’t far apart.
As Lingluo wiped the iron door of the compartment, she saw Yue Liangze approach and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Yue Liangze answered quickly this time, “Taking punishment for someone.”
Lingluo took a deep breath after hearing this and gritted her teeth slightly. She muttered, “Which shameless senior brother asked you to take their punishment this time?”
“I take the punishment for him, and he gives me money,” Yue Liangze said. “The roasted chicken from the dining hall can’t be taken, the black chickens raised at the foot of the mountain haven’t grown up yet, so I have to buy it, and buying costs money.”
Lingluo listened to his reasonable explanation and didn’t immediately respond. Furrowing her brows, she asked, “Why are you buying it?”
Yue Liangze answered, “To make chestnut roasted chicken.”
Lingluo fell silent, her sarcasm swallowed back down, and she simply snorted, saying, “You look so experienced; this isn’t your first time, is it?”
Yue Liangze paused for a moment, then murmured a quiet “Mm.”
Lingluo was about to ask how many times he had come before when the compartment door suddenly opened. A man walked out, his limbs, waist, and neck bound by burning iron chains.
He was wearing nothing but black pants, his feet covered in blood, his bare torso contrasting against his pale face, and his long black hair hung loosely around him.
It was Qing Shun, the only disciple of the second master.
Lingluo locked eyes with him through the iron door. Every step Qing Shun took caused the chains to rattle, and the flames on the chains flickered, momentarily blurring his face.
Qing Shun’s face was pale. He glanced at Lingluo, and not seeing any surprise or fear in her eyes, he narrowed his eyes and took two steps forward to stand at the door.
With a slight smile, he asked, “What are you looking at?”
Qing Shun was much taller than her. Lingluo, still half-bent over as she wiped the bloodstains on the iron doorposts, glanced coldly at him before lowering her gaze and focusing on her cleaning.
Why bother responding? It’s not the right time yet.
“Oh.”
Qing Shun didn’t get a response, so he turned to Yue Liangze and asked, “Where’s this little girl from?”
To Lingluo’s surprise, Yue Liangze actually answered, “My junior sister.”
“Oh, no wonder.” Qing Shun sat down cross-legged in front of the door, extending his hand outside and tilting his head at Yue Liangze. “She looks just as dull as you.”
Lingluo felt her temple twitch slightly.
Yue Liangze, climbing along the iron chains, told Lingluo, “I’ll wipe it.”
“You two know each other?” Lingluo asked, looking at Yue Liangze.
Yue Liangze, wiping the blood from Qing Shun’s hands, didn’t even look up as he replied, “We don’t know each other.”
Qing Shun looked at the two of them with a faint smile.
Lingluo asked again, “Then do you know who he is?”
Yue Liangze replied, “I don’t know.”
“Why are you lying to her?” Qing Shun spoke, poking fun at them, “Afraid she’ll fall off scared?”
Before Yue Liangze could respond, Lingluo kicked the iron door without hesitation.
The door made a dull sound.
Both Yue Liangze and Qing Shun were stunned for a moment.
“When did you meet him?” Lingluo fixed her gaze on Yue Liangze.
Lingluo hadn’t known they were acquainted in her past life. Not only her, but probably no one from the immortal sects knew. When the two appeared in the same scene back then, they hadn’t acknowledged each other or acted like they knew one another.
Even later, when Yue Liangze was trapped on Tianzhao Mountain and Qing Shun entered the mountain, neither of them had said a word.
What was their relationship?
Yue Liangze stayed silent for a moment before turning to look at Lingluo and replying, “Just now.”
Lingluo was so angry she almost kicked him again. “Are you messing with me?”
Qing Shun grinned, his smile somewhat eerie, “Your junior sister has more temper than you, but I’ve never seen you before. How do you know who I am?”
Now it was their turn to wait for Lingluo’s answer.
Lingluo nonchalantly said, “Can’t I just be guessing?”
Qing Shun asked, “You’re guessing who I am?”
Lingluo replied, “The dog disciple of the second master who deserves to be chopped into a thousand pieces and die in apology.”
Qing Shun laughed, stretching his hand outside the iron door. He suddenly swiped his hand toward Lingluo’s neck, expecting that bullying a junior without spiritual power or cultivation would be easy. However, Lingluo dodged the attack faster than expected, and the two exchanged blows through the iron door.
Yue Liangze watched as the two suddenly started fighting. He knew that his own strength was not enough to intervene without being knocked down, so while they fought, he took the opportunity to continue wiping the bloodstains on the iron door.
You two fight slowly; I’ll get my work done first.
