Chapter 21: Scars
Xiao Miaomiao returned to Li Jingcheng’s room, where the nurse was helping him with a massage.
Seeing the scratches on Li Jingcheng’s arm, which she had caused, Xiao Miaomiao felt a little embarrassed. She had accidentally scratched him the night before.
“Young Madam,” the nurse stopped his work and looked at her, wondering if she had any instructions.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, you go on, I’m just taking a look.” Xiao Miaomiao told him to continue, not to worry about her. “Will I be in your way here? Do I need to leave? I just came to bring some flowers.”
The nurse, seeing the gentle and kind Young Madam, felt a little more fondness for Xiao Miaomiao. Dr. Shen could rest assured now, the Young Madam looked kind.
“No need, I’ve almost finished the massage. Young Madam, if you have time, you can stay and talk to the Master.” The nurse had received instructions from the old master and mistress to let them spend more time together. Although they knew the Master’s chances of waking up were slim, there might still be hope.
The nurse looked at the scratch marks on the Master’s arm. It was clear that the Young Madam had been very satisfied with the Master last night, otherwise she wouldn’t have scratched him so deeply. He had already applied medicine to the wounds.
“Okay.” Xiao Miaomiao was embarrassed and wanted to leave, but when she heard the nurse say this, she had to take the vase and put it down.
The nurse quickly helped Li Jingcheng put on his clothes and left.
Xiao Miaomiao waited until he was gone before turning to Li Jingcheng, her eyes filled with guilt. It was indeed her carelessness that had hurt him.
“I really didn’t mean to hurt you, I brought in some flowers, you can’t see them but you can smell them. Grandma praised my arrangement, and the first thing I thought of was to bring them to you. See how good I am to you, your wife.”
“By the way, I saw my cousin today. Do you have a bad relationship with him? It’s the first time I’ve seen him dislike someone so much.”
“Also, I signed the agreement today, the compensation my ex-husband gave me. It’s a lot of money, but I didn’t take it. I had my cousin donate it all. I don’t want to spend his money. I’ll just spend yours from now on. Mom gave me your card to use, I can spend as I please.”
…
Perhaps because Li Jingcheng was unconscious, Xiao Miaomiao let loose and her talkative nature was unleashed. She told Li Jingcheng about everything, even the wildflowers and puppies she saw on the way back.
It was only because Li Jingcheng was unconscious that Xiao Miaomiao dared to talk so much.
Xiao Miaomiao drank two glasses of water in between and even thoughtfully fed Li Jingcheng some water.
It wasn’t until the maid came to call them for lunch that she left. However, Xiao Miaomiao also planned to come here often in the future, after all, there was a loyal listener here, someone who wouldn’t find her annoying.
After Xiao Miaomiao left, Li Jingcheng’s hand moved slightly, but only for a moment. There was no further reaction.
“Grandpa, are you back from fishing?” Xiao Miaomiao asked, looking at her grandfather who was sitting there.
Li Yeye, who had been looking angry, turned to her at Xiao Miaomiao’s greeting and his face was full of smiles.
“Miaomiao, you’re down, come and have lunch.” Li Yeye beckoned. “I heard from your grandma that you’re studying painting. Later, I’ll take you to see my collection. If you like it, Grandpa will give it to you.”
“Thank you, Grandpa.” Xiao Miaomiao didn’t refuse. He would give it to her because he liked her, and if she didn’t accept it, he would be disappointed.
“Yeah, you like it, I have Chinese paintings, oil paintings, some I bought at exhibitions, some I bought myself when I went shopping. I bought one at a small art exhibition, that one is my favorite, I even hung it in the room where your grandma and I rest, you’ll like it too.”
“It’s a very peaceful painting, Jingcheng even asked me for it. But I didn’t give it to him. I thought I would give it to him when he woke up and asked me again. I will definitely give it to him then.” Li Yeye said with some emotion.
Xiao Miaomiao was also interested in the painting and wanted to see it.
“Okay, let’s eat first, we’ll talk about the paintings later.” Grandma Li interrupted, seeing that they were still talking about paintings.
Grandma Li didn’t know much about paintings, but she really liked the painting Li Yeye mentioned. When she saw that painting, her heart felt very calm.
“Okay, Grandma.” Xiao Miaomiao looked at the food on the table and her appetite was whetted.
As expected of the descendants of the imperial chef, the dishes were so simple yet gave a sense of luxury. There were many dishes, but each portion was small, so there was no worry about waste.
“We’ve been thinking about whether to give the chef a raise. The chef knows you like his cooking, but he wants to use all his skills.” Grandma Li used the public chopsticks to pick up some food from her plate and gave it to Xiao Miaomiao, so she wouldn’t be restrained.
“The chef’s food is all delicious, I loved the first meal I had here.” Xiao Miaomiao said sincerely.
“You like it, just tell the chef what you want to eat, and let him make it for you. This is your home, you are also the mistress here, don’t be polite.” Grandma Li smiled.
“I will.” Xiao Miaomiao didn’t hesitate.
“Yeah, we have pastry chefs too, you can ask them to make whatever you want. It’s always safer to eat at home. And you young people like milk tea, fruit tea, they all know how to make it. There’s a menu, I’ll have someone send you one, so you can have milk tea freedom at home. The main thing is that the ingredients at home are all good, you can drink it with peace of mind.” Grandma Li had just heard the maids in the kitchen say it and remembered.
Xiao Miaomiao was really surprised to hear this, “Then the house can open a shop.”
“It really can. The chefs are all keeping up with the times, they know how to make the new products outside, they just don’t know how to make them, you can tell them and they can learn, they won’t let you down.” Li Yeye also agreed.
The chef and the maids listened from the side, and one of them took out a tablet.
When Xiao Miaomiao finished eating, she clicked on the program on the tablet.
“Young Madam, you can scan the QR code with your WeChat to enter, you can see the food inside, you can order whatever you want to eat, there is an order button, we will notify you when it’s done, or we will bring it up to you.” The maid explained.
“Okay, thank you.” Xiao Miaomiao heard and quickly took out her phone to scan the code, and when she opened it, there were more varieties than she knew in the milk tea shops, some she had never heard of, and there were English words below, probably foreign drinks.
“You’re welcome, that’s what we’re here for. If you don’t have anything you want to drink, you can also tell us, we’ll learn as soon as possible.” The old lady had said to satisfy the Young Madam’s every request as much as possible.
