Chapter 23: Praise
The Li family was surprised to learn that Grandpa Li’s most treasured painting was painted by Xiao Miaomiao. They were even more surprised by the praise they received.
Grandpa Li even shared the painting in his friend’s WeChat group, explaining that it was painted by Xiao Miaomiao, and it was not inferior to the works of those masters. It was his favorite.
His friends wanted to make a few sarcastic remarks, but they couldn’t find any fault with it. They felt that the painting was good even through the phone screen, so they naturally said good things, and finally picked on the frame. The glittering appearance clearly showed that it was done by Grandpa Li later.
A painting by a junior was indeed good, and they should encourage her, but they were annoyed by Grandpa Li’s showing off, so they naturally picked on him.
Old Master Ou opened the voice message and said, “This frame looks so cheap that it lowers the grade of the painting. It’s a good painting, but the glittering frame makes it a bit eye-catching.”
Then Old Master Liu, Old Master Zhang, and Old Master Zhou all typed the same two words: “Agreed.”
Grandpa Li didn’t get angry when he saw it. “You’re just jealous. If diamonds weren’t hard to wrap around, I would have put a circle of diamonds around it.”
“Besides, what does this show? It shows that Miaomiao is destined to be with our Li family. We all like her paintings, and now she’s become part of our family.” Grandpa Li boasted.
“Who said I didn’t have a granddaughter-in-law before? Remember to bring red envelopes when you come over tomorrow. You guys should give a gift to meet her as elders.”
“The one who was least likely to get married is the first to get married. When will your son get married?”
Grandpa Li finally had his moment of triumph. He wanted to share the photos he took of Xiao Miaomiao, but then he saw a message saying he had been kicked out of the group by the group owner.
“He’s already angry. He can’t take defeat.” Grandpa Li said with a sneer.
“You’re so childish.” Grandma Li laughed.
“You don’t know how outrageous they were today. They said that Miaomiao married into our family just for our money. They only stopped saying that after they knew Miaomiao was Old Jiang’s granddaughter.”
Grandpa Li knew what people were saying outside, but the Li family was not short of money. As his wife said, it was just a thought, maybe Jingcheng would really wake up, or maybe Miaomiao and Jingcheng would have a child.
“Okay, let’s go to sleep. They’ll see Miaomiao tomorrow and they’ll know how good she is. Don’t bother with them.” Grandma Li comforted him.
“You’re right. They don’t even have a granddaughter-in-law. I don’t know where they get the nerve.” Grandpa Li put away his phone and went to bed.
Old Master Ou and the others looked at the painting on their phones and liked it more and more. The fact that she could paint this showed that Xiao Miaomiao’s character was good, especially since she was said to be Old Jiang’s granddaughter. She was definitely not short of money.
Their grandson was not bad either. Before Jingcheng was fine, he couldn’t compare, but now he’s in a coma and still finds such a good wife. It’s really annoying to compare people. They started to dislike their own grandson.
When Ouyang came back, he was glared at by his grandfather before he even sat down. He thought for a moment, he didn’t seem to have done anything wrong recently.
He looked at his mother for help, but she just rolled her eyes at him, her eyes clearly showing her disdain.
She went out for a beauty treatment with Ouyang Xuan today, and she also knew about her daughter-in-law. Anyone with eyes could see that she was very satisfied with her daughter-in-law. How could she not see that she really liked her after being good friends for so long?
Ouyang Xuan’s eyes were sharp, especially since she came from the entertainment industry. Her eyes were like fire eyes and golden eyes, able to see through demons and ghosts, white lotuses, and true innocence. Anyone who could be protected by her was definitely blessed. There were only a few people she could truly like and be satisfied with, but once she approved of someone, they were definitely good people.
The most important thing was that their appearance was definitely not bad. Whether they could get Ouyang Xuan’s first approval was based on their appearance. This was something they only learned after being friends for a long time.
“You’re really hopeless. You’re already in your thirties and you don’t even have a girlfriend.” Chen, Ouyang’s mother, said with disdain.
“No, Mom, I’m only twenty-five this year. Why am I in my thirties?” Ouyang looked at his mother helplessly. Why did she have to exaggerate his age?
“Isn’t that still almost thirty? You couldn’t compare to Jingcheng before, but now Jingcheng is in bed and someone is still coming to be his wife. You’re wandering around all day and can’t even bring a girlfriend home. Really, I’d rather have given birth to a piece of barbecued pork.” Chen said, then went upstairs directly. “I’m annoyed by you. You don’t have to come back tomorrow if you can’t bring a girlfriend home.”
Ouyang opened his mouth, but he wasn’t that bad, was he?
“Grandpa, I…”
“Don’t call me grandpa. The Li family will have a great-grandson soon, and you don’t even have a girlfriend. Shame on you.” Old Master Ou said to him.
“No, you tell me who married Jingcheng first.” Ouyang was really curious. After all, when Jingcheng was fine, there were many famous ladies who pursued him, but they ran faster than rabbits when something happened. Some even went abroad, worried that their families would force them into arranged marriages or that the Li family would force them.
Although he had always lived in Jingcheng’s shadow, he truly respected Jingcheng. When he chose to enter the entertainment industry, no one in his family agreed, and his grandfather even said he would break his legs. In the end, it was Jingcheng who helped to persuade his family, and they finally agreed.
He had always remembered this favor.
“What kind of person is she? Is she really a good person? Or is she a gold digger who is after Jingcheng’s family’s wealth?” Ouyang asked worriedly.
“She’s the cousin of the president of Jiang’s Group, Old Jiang’s beloved granddaughter. Do you think she needs money?” Old Master Ou rolled his eyes at him.
“Your Grandpa Li also likes her very much. Look, she painted this. Her painting skills and state of mind are not something ordinary women have. Her character is excellent.” Old Master Ou showed him the photo on his phone.
Ouyang saw something familiar.
Old Master Ou explained to him, “This is a painting your Grandpa Li bought at an exhibition. He liked it so much that he hung it in his bedroom. He looks at it before going to sleep and can sleep through the night.”
