Chapter 27: Intimacy
Grandpa Li noticed and remembered, “This group doesn’t have Miaomiao in it yet. Miaomiao, I’ll add you in.”
“This is a group built by our four families, it’s for people who are close to us,” Grandpa Li explained to Xiao Miaomiao.
“Okay.” Xiao Miaomiao knew that Grandpa adding her meant that the families accepted her. She had already joined the Li family group yesterday.
Grandpa Li received Zhang Jie’s 10,000 yuan and transferred 5,000 yuan to Xiao Miaomiao.
“Grandpa, why are you transferring money to me?” Xiao Miaomiao looked at him.
“Half each, I made a profit of 4,000 yuan, not bad,” Grandpa Li laughed. He was not short of money now.
“Okay, thank you, Grandpa.” Xiao Miaomiao was also surprised by the extra 5,000 yuan. She had earned 6,000 yuan for one painting.
Grandpa Li saw her happy expression and laughed too.
Zhou Yi was also surprised. Couldn’t she see the value of her paintings? And she was so happy about just 6,000 yuan. If Grandpa Li hadn’t said it, they wouldn’t have believed she was the Jiang family’s granddaughter.
Her 5% shares would bring in tens of millions every month. Why would she be so happy about 6,000 yuan? But her smile was clearly genuine.
Grandpa Li saw their confusion and explained, “Miaomiao is happy because this is money she earned herself. Miaomiao even said she would use the money to buy us gifts. You know this child, she earned money and wants to spend it on us.”
Grandpa Li looked at his friends helplessly.
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jie immediately received a death glare from their own grandfathers.
“Well, I’ll go check on Jingcheng, Grandpa, you guys chat first.” Ouyang said and ran away, avoiding another nagging about marriage.
Ouyang entered the room and patted his heart. He had escaped another disaster. Jingcheng was truly his lifesaver.
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jie also said they would go see Jingcheng and left.
“Sigh, these kids don’t know what they’re busy with all day. They won’t find girlfriends or get married. I’m so worried,” Old Master Zhou sighed and shook his head.
“Right? My two are the same. When I mention marriage, they disappear and don’t even come home,” Old Man Ou was also helpless.
“You guys just haven’t met the right person yet. Look at my family, they got married early enough. My eldest grandson got married and divorced, and now this one wants to divorce too. He’s a playboy. And my granddaughter is a love-struck fool, even more troublesome than you guys.” Old Man Liu sighed.
After hearing what Old Man Liu said, the others fell silent. Compared to his family, theirs were still good.
“Should you go check on your eldest grandson? It’s been so many years, he’s changed wives four times, and we haven’t seen a great-grandchild yet,” Old Master Zhou suggested.
“It’s not four, it’s five, and he’s about to welcome the sixth one,” Grandma Li added.
Hearing this, they didn’t know what to say.
Old Man Liu was also thinking to himself, maybe his son really couldn’t have children.
Xiao Miaomiao was also surprised. He had married five wives and had no children. Did he not like any of them and didn’t want them to have children, or was he infertile?
“Old Liu, your son Kai can get rich from the wedding gifts alone,” Old Man Ou joked.
“I’m tired of dealing with him. I told him I can’t afford to lose face. If he gets divorced again, he’ll have to handle the wedding himself. I won’t be involved anymore,” Old Liu shook his head.
Every family has its own problems.
Xiao Miaomiao listened for a while and then went back to painting. Maybe it was because she hadn’t painted for a long time, but once she picked up the brush, she couldn’t stop.
Ouyang and the others were in Jingcheng’s room, watching him. He was still the same as before, except he was unconscious. They were relieved.
“Do you think Jingcheng will ever wake up?” Ouyang asked, looking at Jingcheng, who was unconscious.
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jie remained silent. They didn’t know either. They could only wait for a miracle to happen.
Zhou Yi looked at the spot next to Jingcheng. It was obvious someone had slept there. He saw the extra pillow, so Xiao Miaomiao had been sleeping with Jingcheng.
It seemed she really wanted a child.
“Aunt, did Xiao, sister-in-law sleep in the same room as Jingcheng? Didn’t you arrange a separate room for her?” Zhou Yi asked.
Ouyang Xuan nodded and handed the water to Zhang Jie, asking him to help feed Jingcheng.
“Miaomiao rested with Jingcheng. Her room is next door, but she didn’t go. Miaomiao would talk to Jingcheng before resting, or read to him. Then, when she felt sleepy, she would just sleep here without going back. It’s good like this. Miaomiao seems quiet, but she’s actually a child who wants to confide in someone.
She likes to chat, and only unconscious Jingcheng can make her feel safe and let her guard down. She talks about everything. It’s good like this, it’s good for their interaction.” Ouyang Xuan looked at the unconscious Jingcheng. The doctor also said that talking to Jingcheng was good for him.
Before, when they saw Jingcheng’s condition, they couldn’t stop crying. Even when they talked about things, they felt sad. But Miaomiao would tell him about all sorts of trivial matters. It was simple, but it felt warm and cozy.
Zhang Jie agreed, “It’s good like this. Sister-in-law is great. If Jingcheng wakes up, he’ll definitely like her.”
“Of course. Miaomiao has status, looks, and she’s so talented in painting. If Jingcheng doesn’t like her, it’s just because he has no taste.” Ouyang Xuan said confidently.
Zhou Yi couldn’t help but laugh. There was no need to belittle Jingcheng like that.
“It’s getting late. I’ll go tell the kitchen to prepare lunch. You guys have to eat here before going back. I’ll have them make your favorite dishes,” Ouyang Xuan said to them.
“Okay, we’ll eat and then go back.”
“Okay, you guys stay here and talk to Jingcheng. I’ll go downstairs and get busy. I’ll have someone come up and call you down when the food is ready,” Ouyang Xuan said and left.
Ouyang and the others watched their aunt leave the room before turning their attention to Jingcheng and the room’s decor.
They felt like something had changed in the room. It didn’t feel as cold and lonely as before. There was a sense of warmth.
“These flowers weren’t arranged by Grandma Li,” Ouyang said, looking at the vase on the bedside table. Zhou Yi and Zhang Jie looked over. It wasn’t arranged by Grandma Li. Grandma Li had a habit of arranging flowers, and she always used lavender to finish them off. But the flowers in this vase had lavender in the middle.
