Chapter 39: Panic
Liu Yueyue’s eyes widened, her face full of shock. She couldn’t believe that Xiao Miaomiao was actually related to the Jiang family!
“It’s true. I heard those ladies and young misses talking about it at the mall. They said the Li family is the richest, and Xiao Miaomiao called a noble lady ‘Mom’. Apparently, that’s Mrs. Li.” Liu Yueyue explained anxiously, her eyes revealing a hint of panic.
“And they also said that Xiao Miaomiao married a man who’s a vegetable,” Liu Yueyue added urgently, as if hoping to prove her words with these details.
At that moment, Hong Wenbin’s mind suddenly flashed back to the recent order cancellation incident. He realized it might be related to Xiao Miaomiao.
He frowned, a bit displeased, and said to Liu Yueyue, “Did you offend someone? Also, about our relationship, didn’t I tell you not to let anyone know?”
Liu Yueyue didn’t expect Hong Wenbin to blame her like this, a surge of grievance and anger welled up in her heart.
“Xiao Miaomiao said you wouldn’t marry me into the Hong family. Is it true?” she questioned loudly, tears glistening in her eyes.
“I’m already pregnant with your child. It’s fine that you had a marriage with Xiao Miaomiao before, but now you’re divorced, and you still don’t plan to marry me. Are you going to marry another woman and make me a mistress?” Liu Yueyue was emotional, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face. She felt deeply hurt and deceived.
“Yueyue, don’t make a scene. My mom doesn’t like you, you know that. It’s better for you not to be under her control or worry about her dislike, right? Besides, your background, my family won’t agree to you entering the family.” Hong Wenbin said to Liu Yueyue with a serious expression. He knew very well that with his mother’s personality and the status of the Hong family, it was absolutely impossible for them to accept a woman like Liu Yueyue into the family. Although he liked Liu Yueyue, he also understood that this liking wasn’t enough for him to give up everything he had in the Hong family.
After hearing this, Liu Yueyue’s tears flowed uncontrollably: “Do you really want our child to be a bastard too? I’m about to give birth.” She felt her future was bleak, unsure how to face this harsh reality.
Hong Wenbin looked at her belly, a complex emotion surged within him. After all, this was his first child. No matter what, he still hoped to give the child a proper status. So, he comforted her, “Alright, I’ll figure out a way to get the child back to the Hong family.”
Liu Yueyue’s face showed disbelief upon hearing this. She stared at Hong Wenbin with wide eyes, questioning, “You’re not going to use the same method you used on Xiao Miaomiao to adopt the child back, are you? No! Today, Xiao Miaomiao already told all those ladies and young masters about how we schemed against her in front of everyone.”
Liu Yueyue was terrified. If this matter spread, not only would Hong Wenbin be implicated, but she and her unborn child would also be subjected to scorn and condemnation. She couldn’t let this happen, so she firmly opposed Hong Wenbin’s plan.
“Everyone knows that you wouldn’t possibly marry me. They all know about my existence and the child in my belly.” Liu Yueyue held his hand tightly, her eyes filled with resentment and grievance.
Hong Wenbin’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Liu Yueyue, his voice trembling as he asked, “What did you say?”
“Didn’t I tell you not to go out recently?” Hong Wenbin’s face instantly turned gloomy, his eyes revealing a hint of blame.
Liu Yueyue lowered her head, tears welling up in her eyes. She softly explained, “I didn’t mean to. You haven’t come to see me these days, and I couldn’t take it anymore, so I decided to go shopping at the mall myself. Who knew I would run into Xiao Miaomiao? She was splurging and shopping at the mall, spending all your money! I couldn’t help but say a few words to her in anger.”
Hong Wenbin frowned, his heart filled with helplessness and anger, but more importantly, worry about the current situation.
Liu Yueyue continued to talk, her tone tinged with grievance and unwillingness: “How could I have known that she would make such a scene and let everyone know about her divorce, and about your infidelity with me? She told everything, even about us scheming to make her infertile, without holding back. Now everyone knows, no one will dare to marry you anymore.” With that, her tears finally spilled over, dripping onto the ground.
Liu Yueyue said this to force Hong Wenbin to face reality and marry her. After all, her ambition was far more than just being Hong Wenbin’s lover. She wanted to be his legal wife.
“Wenbin, don’t you like me? And now I have a child. Your mom can’t force me to have an abortion, can she? Just go get a marriage license with me.” Liu Yueyue looked at him pitifully.
“Child, my mom doesn’t care. My older brother already has two sons. She has two grandsons. She won’t like the one in your belly at all.” Hong Wenbin said to her with a helpless expression, his tone tinged with bitterness and helplessness.
“I was so careful before, afraid of being discovered, afraid of my mom finding out. She knows that if I’m with you, she’ll cut us off. If I marry you, I’ll be kicked out of the Hong family. Then I’ll have nothing.”
Hong Wenbin’s face was full of anger and pain. His eyes flickered with despair and helplessness, his voice trembling slightly, as if he was expressing the deep fear and anxiety in his heart.
“Besides, Xiao Miaomiao didn’t spend my money. I gave her divorce property, and she donated it all, not keeping a single cent.” Hong Wenbin looked at her and said. Now, all he had was regret. If he had known about Xiao Miaomiao’s identity, how could he have dared to scheme against her? Wasn’t that asking for trouble?
He still hadn’t dared to tell his parents about his divorce from Xiao Miaomiao.
And today’s incident must have already reached his mother’s ears. He didn’t even dare to go home. Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of self-blame and regret.
Speaking of the devil, Mrs. Hong called Hong Wenbin.
Hong Wenbin picked up the phone in fear, “Mom.”
“Don’t call me Mom. Do you still have this mother in your eyes? You actually got divorced, and it was because of infidelity. Is this what I taught you?” Mrs. Hong had lost both face and dignity today.
“You wouldn’t keep such a good wife like Miaomiao, but you like a piece of trash like Liu Yueyue. With a son like you, I’ve lost all face.” Mrs. Hong said angrily, “Get your ass back here today.”
