Chapter 49: Appearance
For the first time, Li Jingcheng felt time dragging on so slowly. He waited impatiently for Xiao Miaomiao to return to the room. He couldn’t quite define his feelings for her.
As a child, he thought she was adorable, and Jiang Chen was handsome too, so he assumed Xiao Miaomiao must be beautiful now.
Besides, they had gotten their marriage certificate and had been intimate. If he truly woke up, as long as Xiao Miaomiao wasn’t excessive, he would naturally take responsibility for her and wouldn’t easily divorce her.
In Li Jingcheng’s eyes, Xiao Miaomiao was already his wife. He wouldn’t allow anyone to covet her, and he couldn’t tolerate her cheating or betraying him.
Just as Li Jingcheng was anxious and waiting with bated breath, Xiao Miaomiao finally came back. After entering the door, she gently removed the hairpin from her head, placed it on the dressing table, and then walked towards the wardrobe to choose clothes, preparing to go to the bathroom to take a shower.
She decided to stay here, even bringing her own change of clothes, but the room next door was still reserved for her.
She usually only stayed in the room when she was sleeping or accompanying Li Jingcheng. Most of the time, she was either in the studio or painting in the courtyard.
Therefore, Xiao Miaomiao didn’t think there was anything wrong with sharing a bed with Li Jingcheng, who was in a vegetative state. Instead, she treated Li Jingcheng as her confidant, telling him everything she saw and thought that was interesting, because Li Jingcheng never got tired of her.
You know, even her elder cousin sometimes found her to be a chatterbox and thought she was too noisy.
Before Li Jingcheng could feel happy about this, he heard Xiao Miaomiao already entering the bathroom. His face couldn’t help but turn slightly red.
After Xiao Miaomiao came out, she immediately fell onto the bed, gently pinched Li Jingcheng’s cheek, and said, “You seem to be looking much better.”
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she continued, “Right, didn’t I tell you today that I was going to take my cousin and Brother Zheng out for dinner?”
“The restaurant today was really good. It was a small private kitchen. Although it was all home-cooked food, each dish was made with great care, and the taste was exceptionally delicious.” Xiao Miaomiao said with a sigh as she ate the delicious food.
“There’s also something unexpected that happened. You know? I only found out today that the tutor I’ve been wanting to thank is actually Brother Zheng! If it weren’t for him, I might not even have been able to get into my dream university for the college entrance exam.” Xiao Miaomiao said gratefully.
“Moreover, Brother Zheng is really so considerate! I just had my hair down while eating, which wasn’t convenient, and he actually went out to buy a wooden hairpin for me. What’s even more surprising is that he learned it right away, while I had to ask grandma and mom for a long time before I learned how to use it.” Xiao Miaomiao recalled the scene with a smile.
“Brother Zheng is so outstanding and considerate. His wife must have burned a lot of incense in her past life to be able to marry someone like him. It’s a pity, though. He’s still single until now. I don’t know why.” Xiao Miaomiao couldn’t help but sigh.
“Maybe his taste is a bit like my cousin’s. He hasn’t found the right person yet, so he’d rather be alone. However, I still sincerely hope that he can find someone he loves soon. After all, he’s an orphan. If he has a wife, it’s like having a real home. And then there will be cute children.” Xiao Miaomiao sincerely blessed him.
Hearing Xiao Miaomiao say that Zheng Yan was considerate, Li Jingcheng couldn’t help but feel a surge of jealousy. He thought to himself, “It’s just a wooden hairpin? When I wake up, I can buy you a more precious jade hairpin!”
However, when he listened carefully to what Xiao Miaomiao said next, his heart eased slightly.
It turned out that Xiao Miaomiao didn’t seem to know that Zheng Yan’s true love was her. This made Li Jingcheng feel both fortunate and helpless. He didn’t know whether to say that Xiao Miaomiao was slow or to feel sorry for Zheng Yan.
From Xiao Miaomiao’s words and attitude, it was clear that she had a good impression of Zheng Yan, and even had a fondness for him.
However, Zheng Yan had never revealed his true feelings to her, which kept a distance between them.
This situation was truly regrettable, as if fate had played a trick on them, making them miss each other’s destiny.
Xiao Miaomiao continued to talk about her experiences with enthusiasm: “I also bought several hairpins with different patterns, all handmade and very exquisite. I put them on and took pictures, and posted them on my Moments with the caption ‘Little Fairy.’ As a result, everyone liked them.”
Xiao Miaomiao didn’t hide her pride and self-satisfaction. After all, her appearance was indeed outstanding, and she was confident in her beauty.
Li Jingcheng could already imagine her smug look. He was used to Xiao Miaomiao’s bragging and no longer felt surprised by her self-promotion.
However, he was still willing to listen to her. His little wife was a very lively girl.
As usual, Xiao Miaomiao looked at the time, then opened the music box, set the time, and lay down on the bed. Soon, she fell asleep.
Li Jingcheng heard the steady breathing beside him and gradually felt at ease.
At this moment, how he wished he could wake up soon, but reality told him that it would still take some time. At this moment, he couldn’t even move a finger.
Xiao Miaomiao was very satisfied with her current life. Every day, she would accompany her grandmother to arrange flowers, have tea with Li’s mother, paint, and sometimes follow Li’s grandfather to go fishing.
Today, Xiao Miaomiao pushed Li Jingcheng, closely following behind Li’s grandfather, to go to the lake to watch him fish.
“Miaomiao, are you tired? If you’re tired, let the caregiver next to you help push you.” Li’s grandfather asked Xiao Miaomiao with concern. Xiao Miaomiao smiled and shook her head, saying, “Grandpa, I’m not tired at all. Don’t worry.” This wheelchair was electric, and she only needed to control the direction.
Before, everyone never thought of taking Li Jingcheng out. It wasn’t because they were afraid of being laughed at, because he was already in a vegetative state, and it was more comfortable for him to lie down.
However, Li Jingcheng’s room had excellent lighting and a good environment.
A few days ago, Xiao Miaomiao suggested that they could put Li Jingcheng in a wheelchair and push him out to get some sun and fresh air.
After confirming with Shen Wang that this was okay, everyone started trying to do this.
At first, they only pushed Li Jingcheng to the garden in the house when the sun wasn’t too strong, and then Xiao Miaomiao would paint nearby.
Today, Xiao Miaomiao didn’t have any creative inspiration and wanted to go out for a walk. Coincidentally, she saw Li’s grandfather preparing to go fishing, so she pushed Li Jingcheng out with her.
