After Divorce, I Inherited a Billion-Dollar Fortune Chapter 16

The following morning, Su Weichu arranged a meeting with the head of the second company she had been considering for the Far Ocean Project.

Her decision, however, had not gone unnoticed by Lin Huaiyu. He was well aware that his actions the other day had likely infuriated her.

Standing nearby, Qin Chuan voiced his concern. “President, do you think Su will actually partner with Kaiya Corporation?”

Kaiya was the second-choice company Su Moxu had shortlisted for collaboration.

Lin Huaiyu shook his head slightly, his deep gaze unwavering. “No, she won’t. Kaiya lacks the capital strength to match us, and their expertise is mediocre at best. More importantly, given the current circumstances, she won’t take the risk.”

Since discovering Su Weichu’s true identity as a member of the Su family, Lin Huaiyu had thoroughly investigated their affairs. With Su Hetong returning, he suspected that Weichu’s situation was about to become far more precarious.

And he was right.

Su Weichu’s meeting with Kaiya’s director was a failure.

She had attempted to discuss hard facts and concrete data, yet the director spewed nothing but grandiose figures and empty promises. It was frustrating, to say the least.

“President Zhang, I think we should end our discussion here,” she finally said, signaling for Yi Qingyun to escort him out.

But Zhang Dongguo was either oblivious or simply too shameless to take the hint. Instead, he leaned back into his chair, feigning confidence.

“President Su, you have nothing to worry about. Just leave the Far Ocean Project to us—we’ll execute it flawlessly!” he insisted, flashing a rehearsed smile.

Su Weichu exhaled slowly, keeping her composure. “I still need time to consider, President Zhang. You will be informed of my final decision.”

Zhang Dongguo’s expression twisted into one of dissatisfaction. “What is there to consider? Do you really think you have better options than Kaiya?”

“Of course,” Su Weichu replied coolly, her patience wearing thin. “Besides Kaiya, I have Lin Group, Far East Corporation, and over a dozen other viable choices.”

Her sharp retort left Zhang Dongguo momentarily speechless, his face darkening with embarrassment.

With no further interest in entertaining the conversation, Su Weichu signaled for Yi Qingyun once more.

By the afternoon, however, an unexpected development unfolded.

News had spread across the internet—headlines claiming that Su Corporation and Kaiya had finalized their partnership for the Far Ocean Project.

The reports were elaborate, written with such convincing detail that many believed them to be true.

As soon as Yi Qingyun received word, she rushed into Su Weichu’s office, face flushed with anger.

“President! Kaiya has gone too far! They’ve planted false news online, trying to force us into working with them!”

Her voice trembled with indignation as she slammed a tablet displaying the fabricated articles onto the desk.

Su Weichu’s expression darkened. “Inform the Public Relations Department—have them issue an immediate statement refuting these claims.”

Before her assistant could respond, a commotion erupted outside the office.

Moments later, the door was flung open with force.

A furious Lin Chenxi stormed inside, her presence demanding attention.

“Su Weichu! Who do you think you are, refusing to work with my brother’s company?!”

She marched up to the desk, palms pressed against the polished surface, dark eyes blazing with anger as she glared down at Weichu.

Behind her, security personnel hurried in, apologizing profusely.

“I’m sorry, President! We tried to stop her!”

Su Weichu waved a hand dismissively. “It’s fine. You may leave.”

Once the room was cleared, she turned her gaze to Lin Chenxi, her expression unfazed.

“Does your brother know you’re here?” she asked, voice calm but sharp.

Lin Chenxi scoffed. “Whether he knows or not is irrelevant! Let me tell you something, Su Weichu—my mother has decided to accept you because you’re the Su Corporation’s heir. But don’t get ahead of yourself. If you keep acting like this, don’t forget—there are countless women lining up to marry my brother!”

Her tone was condescending, her eyes filled with disdain, as if she were doing Weichu a great favor by acknowledging her existence.

Standing nearby, Yi Qingyun blinked in disbelief.

Was this woman out of her mind?

Sure, plenty of women wanted to marry Lin Huaiyu. But there were even more men eager to marry their president!

Su Weichu’s gaze sharpened with amusement—watching Lin Chenxi was like watching a child throwing a tantrum.

Instead of wasting her breath on an argument, she turned to Yi Qingyun.

“Call Lin Huaiyu. Tell him to come pick up his sister.”

Before her assistant could even reach for the phone, the device on the desk vibrated.

Lin Huaiyu’s name flashed across the screen.

Su Weichu smirked. “No need to call.”

She swiped to answer, her tone cold. “You have ten minutes to come and get your sister.”

Lin Huaiyu’s reply was immediate. “I’m already on my way.”

Not bothering to say another word, Weichu ended the call.

She looked back at Lin Chenxi, her patience now depleted.

“Your brother will be here soon. Wait outside.”

“I’m not leaving unless you hand over the Far Ocean contract!” Lin Chenxi crossed her arms, stubborn as ever. “If you refuse, I’ll come back every day. I’ll make sure no one else dares to take this deal!”

Her shamelessness was astonishing, even to Weichu.

“For someone who calls themselves a lady, your thick skin is truly admirable,” Weichu remarked, voice laced with sarcasm.

Lin Chenxi’s face turned red with fury. “Who are you calling thick-skinned?!”

Ignoring her outburst, Weichu turned to her assistant.

“Call security. Escort Miss Lin out.”

Within moments, security personnel entered, signaling for Lin Chenxi to leave.

But she wasn’t going without a fight.

“Get your hands off me! Do you even know who I am?!” she screeched, swatting away their hands.

“Su Weichu, if they dare lay a single finger on me, I’ll make sure my brother Lin destroys you!”

Before Weichu could respond, a deep, authoritative voice cut through the chaos.

“Lin Chenxi—shut up.”

Everyone turned toward the door.

Lin Huaiyu stood at the threshold, his towering frame casting a dark shadow over the room. His expression was devoid of warmth, his entire presence exuding a chilling authority.

Lin Chenxi visibly flinched. “B-Brother…”

His gaze was piercing as he issued his command.

“Qin Chuan, take Miss Lin home. She is not to step foot outside without my permission.”

“Yes, President,” Qin Chuan responded, stepping forward.

Lin Chenxi clenched her fists, her face filled with reluctance, but one glance at her brother’s warning glare was enough to silence her. With gritted teeth, she turned and followed Qin Chuan out of the office.

Now that the disturbance was gone, Lin Huaiyu stepped closer to Weichu, his cold expression softening ever so slightly.

“We need to talk.”

Weichu’s face remained unreadable.

“I don’t see what there is to discuss.”

A clear dismissal.

Lin Huaiyu, however, was unfazed. Instead, he reached into his coat pocket, pulling out an elegant invitation card and placing it on the desk.

“This arrived this morning,” he said, his tone unreadable. “Su Hetong insisted I attend.”

At the mention of Su Hetong, Weichu’s brows furrowed.

She picked up the invitation and unfolded it.

It was an official summoning—an invitation to Su Hetong’s grand return banquet.
