Chapter 14: Falling into the Water
Lu Yunshang had no appetite for breakfast. She called Liu Jingting and urged him to go home.
Leaving the room, she put on the coat that had been splashed with soup yesterday. Seeing the oil stains on the sleeve, Lu Yunshang frowned. It was one of her favorite coats, and she hadn’t worn it many times. Now it was ruined.
But she also thought, thankfully her hand didn’t blister. It seemed to be fine now.
Getting into Liu Jingting’s car, she remembered she’d forgotten the ointment Fu Changqing had given her last night.
But her hand was already fine.
Forget it. She didn’t need it.
Liu Jingting took Lu Yunshang back to her apartment in Mudan Garden and told her to rest for the day and go to the studio tomorrow.
Back home, Lu Yunshang took a shower, changed into soft and comfortable pajamas, and went to the kitchen to cook noodles.
She had just moved back, and hadn’t had time to restock. The refrigerator only had noodles and a dozen eggs.
Lu Yunshang cracked an egg into a bowl.
It wasn’t bad, so she poured it into the pot.
In a few minutes, the noodles were cooked.
She carried the noodles to the living room, turned on the TV, and was about to eat while watching when the doorbell rang.
Who is it? Lu Yunshang muttered as she went to open the door.
She froze the moment she opened the door, “President Fu, why are you here?”
Wait, how did he know where I live?
Lu Yunshang was puzzled.
Seeing Lu Yunshang in her pajamas, Fu Changqing was slightly surprised.
Lu Yunshang awkwardly tugged at the hem of her top, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Fu Changqing took off his shoes and entered the house, looking around the small apartment. It was in a minimalist style, with white walls and white furniture, “It seems you like white.”
Lu Yunshang closed the door and entered the house.
“Your perfume room?” Fu Changqing pointed to a room filled with ingredients and asked.
Lu Yunshang nodded, “Sometimes I just play around here at home.”
Fu Changqing seemed to remember something and took the burn ointment from his pocket and handed it to Lu Yunshang, “You left it at the farm. Is your hand better?”
Lu Yunshang hesitated before taking it, “It’s fine. It’s not red anymore.”
Fu Changqing stared at her hand, as if confirming if what she said was true. Lu Yunshang had to extend her hand to him.
“See, it’s really healed.”
“That’s good.”
“…”
An awkward silence.
Just as Lu Yunshang was thinking about what to say, her phone rang.
She walked to the coffee table, picked up her phone, and saw it was Fu Hanzhou again.
“Mr. Fu, what else is it?” Lu Yunshang said impatiently.
“Lu Yunshang, what did you tell Grandpa? Why did he take Nianzhen back to the old house?”
“Then you should ask Grandpa. What does it have to do with me?”
“It must be something you told Grandpa. Otherwise, Grandpa wouldn’t have taken Nianzhen away. Come back to the old house immediately!”
Just as Lu Yunshang was about to retort, Fu Hanzhou hung up.
Fu Changqing glanced at the noodles on the table, “Don’t mind him. Eat your noodles first. I’ll take you back to the old house after you finish.”
Lu Yunshang had no appetite, “I don’t want to eat. I’ll change my clothes.”
On the way, Lu Yunshang inwardly sighed. She hadn’t been back to the old house a few times in a year of marriage with Fu Hanzhou, but she was going back every day after the divorce.
Lin Haiyang was surprised to see Lu Yunshang and Fu Changqing return together but didn’t say anything. He simply led them to Old Master Fu’s study and left.
Entering the room, Lu Yunshang saw Fu Hanzhou and Xiao Nianzhen kneeling on the ground again.
“Grandpa,” Fu Changqing walked to Old Master Fu’s desk, “What happened?”
“Ask her,” Old Master Fu pointed at Xiao Nianzhen.
Xiao Nianzhen kept shaking her head, “Grandpa, it really wasn’t me.”
Fu Hanzhou quickly said, “Grandpa, I believe Nianzhen. She’s kind-hearted. She wouldn’t even hurt an ant. It’s impossible for her to instruct the waitress to hurt someone. If you have to say someone instructed her, why don’t you say it was Fourth Uncle? The waitress is his employee.”
“Beast!” Old Master Fu slammed his hand on the table, startling Lu Yunshang.
“Do you think you really understand this woman? Do you think I would bring her here without evidence? I’ll let you see her true face and make you convinced.”
Old Master Fu picked up his phone and clicked it. A woman’s voice came from the phone:
“Prepare a pot of hot soup and throw it directly on her face. Ruin her face for me. I get angry just looking at her face. Once she becomes ugly, let’s see how arrogant she can be. After you’re done, I’ll give you 20,000 yuan.”
Fu Hanzhou was dumbfounded.
“Do you believe it now? Do you want to see more evidence? I also have the transfer records. The waitress confessed everything,” Old Master Fu’s face was purple with anger.
Xiao Nianzhen grabbed Fu Hanzhou, “Hanzhou, Hanzhou, I just wanted to vent my anger. I didn’t really want to hurt Sister Yunshang. Look, she’s fine now, isn’t she?”
Old Master Fu coldly snorted, “You’re still arguing at this point. It’s because Yunshang suddenly stood up, so the soup didn’t splash on her face as you expected.”
“Why did you do this?” Fu Hanzhou asked coldly.
Xiao Nianzhen suddenly let go of Fu Hanzhou, “Hanzhou, I admit it was me. It’s because I love you so much. I’m jealous of Sister Yunshang. I’m wrong. I won’t do this again. I swear on my child.”
“You should be thankful you’re carrying Fu family blood. Otherwise, you should be at the police station now,” Old Master Fu said angrily, “From now on, stay in the old house until you give birth.”
“Grandpa, are you going to confine Nianzhen?”
“I’m not confining her. I’m worried about her child. Let her stay here and have a good pregnancy.”
Xiao Nianzhen tearfully shook her head at Fu Hanzhou.
Fu Hanzhou saw Old Master Fu’s livid face and knew that it was useless to say anything. He looked at Lu Yunshang for help.
“Lu Yunshang, Nianzhen was momentarily confused. I apologize to you on her behalf. Please forgive her.”
Lu Yunshang gasped. Her heart felt cold, “Fu Hanzhou, do you think I’m a saint? I can give Grandpa face and not send her to the police station. You should be grateful. Forgive her? No way.”
“Lu Yunshang, you…”
“I’m sorry, Grandpa. I have to go to work. I’ll leave now.” Lu Yunshang actually wanted to say, I’m divorced from Fu Hanzhou. Don’t involve me in your family matters.
Lu Yunshang turned and left.
Passing the pool, she seemed to hear someone calling her.
Turning back, she saw Fu Ruoyun walking quickly towards her, a strange smile on her face.
“Sister Yunshang, I came back to see Grandpa. Manager Lin said you came back with my brother. Where’s Brother?”
“He’s in the study,” Lu Yunshang casually replied.
“Sister Yunshang, why didn’t you come back with Brother Hanzhou but with my brother?” Fu Ruoyun looked at Lu Yunshang with a smirk.
Lu Yunshang didn’t know how to explain. Fu Ruoyun probably didn’t know she and Fu Hanzhou were divorced.
“Sister Yunshang, do you like my brother?”
Lu Yunshang froze.
Fu Ruoyun chuckled, “Sister Yunshang, don’t be nervous. My brother is so handsome. He’s very attractive to women.”
Lu Yunshang smiled gently, “Miss Fu, I have something to do. I’ll go now.”
“Then Sister Yunshang, goodbye.”
Lu Yunshang turned around, took a step, but tripped over something and fell directly into the icy pool. Her body seemed to freeze instantly.
She tried to move her limbs but found they were numb.
Her body was sinking. Lu Yunshang saw Fu Ruoyun standing by the pool, a chilling smile on her face…
