Chapter 18: Explanation

Lu Yunshang didn’t want to get close to them and continued drinking her tea.

Shen Yue, however, didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving. Looking at Su Qiyi, she asked, “Who is this?”

Su Qiyi stood up and extended his hand, “Hello, Miss Shen. My name is Su Qiyi. My father is Su Nanyang, chairman of Nanyang Group. We’ve met at banquets before. You might have forgotten.”

Shen Yue smiled sweetly, “So it’s the young master of the Su family. I’m very sorry. I have face blindness, but I’ll remember this time.”

Su Qiyi smiled awkwardly, “Miss Shen only has eyes for President Fu.”

Shen Yue shyly glanced at Fu Changqing, “Mr. Su, would you mind if we sat together? I just returned from abroad and am going to work at our family company as a perfumer. I’d like to talk to Miss Lu about perfumery…”

“Excuse me, Miss Shen,” Lu Yunshang suddenly interrupted Shen Yue.

“It’s not convenient today. We’re on a date.”

“A date?” Shen Yue looked puzzled, “Isn’t Miss Lu Fu Shao’s wife?”

“We’ve been divorced for a long time.”

Lu Yunshang finished speaking and took a sip of tea.

Shen Yue looked at Fu Changqing, who remained silent.

Fu Changqing drank his tea, expressionless.

Shen Yue was met with silence and pouted, acting spoiled, “Are you unhappy just because you’re out with me?”

Fu Changqing paused, saying coldly, “I’ve said it before. There’s no possibility between us. I hope you won’t use Grandpa to pressure me again, and don’t ask me out casually. I don’t have time to play with you.”

“Changqing, we’re destined to be together. In Huacheng, besides me, which other young lady is worthy of you? We’re a perfect match. We’re from similar backgrounds and grew up together…”

Fu Changqing’s face became even colder, “Miss Shen, what I hate most is being led by the nose. I don’t think marriage should be about matching backgrounds. I believe marriage should be based on mutual love and shared values.”

Shen Yue became anxious, “What’s wrong with me? I can change for you.”

“I’ve made myself clear. Please respect yourself, Miss Shen. This meal is the last one. I won’t go out with you again.”

Fu Changqing finished speaking and turned to look out the window.

Shen Yue’s hand tightly clutched her skirt. She was very unhappy.

She must get anything she wants.

The position of Fu Changqing’s wife must be hers.

On the other side, after finishing her porridge, Lu Yunshang asked Su Qiyi about his perfume requirements.

“I don’t have any requirements. Miss Lu can make it as she sees fit,” Su Qiyi replied.

“What occasion will it be used for? At the hospital?”

“Any occasion. Work or parties. Also, please make a women’s perfume for me.”

Lu Yunshang paused, “Is it for your girlfriend?”

Su Qiyi smiled, “Miss Lu, I’m currently single. It’s for my mother. Her birthday is coming soon.”

“Oh, I understand. Are there any special requirements?”

Su Qiyi thought for a moment, “My mother likes jasmine.”

Lu Yunshang got it.

They chatted for another fifteen minutes. Seeing the time, Lu Yunshang called the server to pay the bill.

The server was puzzled and looked at Su Qiyi.

Su Qiyi smiled and waved the server away.

Then he told Lu Yunshang that the shop was his family’s, and she didn’t need to pay.

Lu Yunshang felt a little embarrassed, “Then thank you, Mr. Su. I’ll treat you next time.”

“Can Miss Lu go out to eat with me next time?” Su Qiyi asked.

“Why not? We’re friends,” Lu Yunshang picked up her bag, “I’ll go to the restroom.”

Su Qiyi smiled and nodded, “Take your time, Miss Lu.”

In the restroom, Lu Yunshang took out her powder and lipstick and touched up her makeup.

When she was packing her bag and preparing to leave,

A tall figure suddenly rushed in, and the door was locked.

Seeing the man in front of her, Lu Yunshang’s heart leaped into her throat.

“President Fu…”

Fu Changqing’s eyes stared at Lu Yunshang, as if trying to see through her, “Is Su Qiyi pursuing you?”

Lu Yunshang’s heart beat rapidly, “President Fu, this is my private matter.”

“Answer me!”

His tone was firm.

“No,” Lu Yunshang blurted out.

As soon as she finished speaking, she regretted it. Why did she listen to him? What did it have to do with him?

Fu Changqing’s lips curled up, a satisfied expression on his face.

Lu Yunshang’s face flushed red.

Why did he have the right to question her?

He asked, “Are you full?”

Lu Yunshang said angrily, “I’m full of anger.”

Fu Changqing smiled, “That’s good. Go back to work. Remake that set of perfume for me.”

Lu Yunshang was puzzled, “You used it up so quickly?”

“Ruoyun broke them all,” he said.

“But she was punished. I sent her abroad. She won’t be back for a while.”

Lu Yunshang was shocked. Fu Ruoyun was sent abroad because of her, not because of Shen Yue?

Knock, knock, knock. Someone was knocking at the door.

Lu Yunshang looked at Fu Changqing, not knowing what to do.

Fu Changqing frowned and turned to leave, but stopped after two steps, turning back to look at Lu Yunshang.

“Don’t worry too much about Miss Shen. I don’t have any feelings for her.”

Lu Yunshang froze. Why did he tell her this?

Fu Changqing opened the door and saw a fat woman standing at the door. The woman was about to scold when she saw Fu Changqing’s fierce expression and quickly rushed into the restroom and locked herself in a stall.

Lu Yunshang couldn’t help but giggle. She straightened her clothes and left the restroom.

She refused Su Qiyi’s offer and insisted on walking back to the company. It wasn’t far, about a 20-minute walk.

Along the way, seeing several couples holding hands intimately, she felt envious.

Fu Changqing’s face flashed in her mind.

Was he having a fit today?

He actually blocked her in the restroom and said a bunch of inexplicable things.

But for some reason, she felt happy.

Back at the company, Lu Yunshang immediately remade the perfume for Fu Changqing.

Tiantian and Xiao Ke returned to the studio after their lunch break and found Lu Yunshang humming and making perfume.

“Which handsome guy captured our beauty’s heart?”

“I don’t know his name, but I saw him at noon. Sister Yunshang went out to eat with him. He’s really handsome, and judging by his clothes, he must be rich.”

Xiao Ke gave a thumbs up, “Our Sister Yunshang deserves a better man to love her.”

“Stop talking and get to work,” Tiantian pushed Xiao Ke.

Lu Yunshang looked up, “Oh, Xiao Ke, you found the bottles for the five-piece perfume set last time. Go find another set for me. Use the best packaging.”

“Okay, coming right away,” Xiao Ke said and ran off.

“Tiantian, get some more cedarwood from the warehouse. This bottle is almost empty,” Lu Yunshang said, holding up the bottle of cedarwood essence.

“Okay, Sister Yunshang, coming right away.”

Tiantian also ran off.

Lu Yunshang sprayed the finished perfume onto a scent strip and brought it to her nose.

Almost done.

“Miss Lu.”

Hearing someone call, Lu Yunshang turned around.

She saw Shen Yue standing at the door.
