Chapter 24: The Truth

Fu Changqing went to the balcony to take the call. When he returned to the living room, his expression had turned serious.

“What happened?” Lu Yunshang hurriedly asked.

“Good news or bad news? Which do you want to hear first?” Fu Changqing asked everyone.

“Let’s hear the good news first,” Liu Jingting said.

Fu Changqing looked at Tang Tang. “Yang Gang has been found. He’s in detention now for assault and might be locked up for a while, so Miss Tang doesn’t have to worry about him causing trouble anymore.”

Tang Tang wept with joy. “Thank goodness. Evil will be punished.”

But Lu Yunshang pressed, “What about the bad news?”

After a moment’s thought, Fu Changqing said, “The person he beat is in the hospital. I heard it’s serious. You know the victim too. It’s my cousin, Huang Siyuan.”

Tang Tang’s legs went weak, and she slumped onto the sofa. “What on earth happened?”

The four of them rushed to the hospital to see Huang Siyuan.

The attending physician happened to be Jiang Bogen.

Jiang Bogen told them that they could rest assured; Huang Siyuan was not in life-threatening danger.

Seeing the cast on Huang Siyuan’s left hand, Tang Tang couldn’t stop the tears from falling. She asked him what had happened.

Huang Siyuan vaguely said, “I ran into him on the road. The guy lunged at me when he saw me. We fought, and he accidentally broke my hand. I don’t remember the details.”

But Fu Changqing’s brows were furrowed. Lu Yunshang noticed his unusual expression and secretly pulled him aside.

“Mr. Fu, do you think Huang Siyuan is lying?”

After thinking for a while, Fu Changqing said, “Huang Siyuan has martial arts training and works out regularly. It’s not easy to take him down, let alone break his hand. Is Yang Gang that strong?”

“If Yang Gang is that strong, why would he easily let Huang Siyuan go?”

Lu Yunshang was puzzled. “Then what happened?”

Fu Changqing rotated the dragon-patterned ring on his finger. “Unless Huang Siyuan deliberately got beaten up.”

“Who would deliberately get beaten up? Why would he do that?”

As Lu Yunshang spoke, she froze. “Was it for Tang Tang? By getting Yang Gang arrested, he wouldn’t be able to harass Tang Tang anymore.”

Fu Changqing nodded. “That’s probably it.”

Lu Yunshang leaned against the wall. Huang Siyuan was considered a playboy in the eyes of others. Why would he do this for Tang Tang?

Did he really love Tang Tang?

Over the next few days, Tang Tang went to the hospital every day after waking up.

She told Lu Yunshang that Huang Siyuan was injured because of her, so she had to take care of him.

Huang Siyuan was more than happy. He didn’t like strangers taking care of him, especially the daily washing. How could he let a stranger help him wash? But Tang Tang was different because of their feelings.

Because Huang Siyuan had a broken hand, Tang Tang personally fed him every day, like feeding a child.

Lu Yunshang also visited the hospital occasionally.

She told Huang Siyuan not to tell Tang Tang that she was Fu Hanzhou’s ex-wife.

Let that marriage be a dream.

One day, after finishing her work, Lu Yunshang called Tang Tang, wanting to take her out shopping and to a movie.

Tang Tang was delighted but wanted to feed Huang Siyuan dinner first.

Lu Yunshang drove to the hospital to find her, picking up dinner for the three of them on the way.

At the ward door, Lu Yunshang saw many people gathered around Huang Siyuan’s room.

“A country bumpkin, daring to seduce my son. From now on, get as far away as possible and never appear in front of my son again, or I’ll make you wish you were dead!”

Hearing the vicious words from the ward, Lu Yunshang knew without guessing that it was Huang Siyuan’s mother, Fu Meirou, who had arrived.

She thought for a moment and raised her head to say to the onlookers, “Excuse me.”

Fu Meirou was surprised to see Lu Yunshang come in and asked rudely, “What are you doing here?”

Lu Yunshang looked at Tang Tang. “I’m here to see my friend.”

She put the food containers on the table and pulled Tang Tang away. “Let’s go. Since they don’t want you here, we don’t need to force ourselves. The world goes on without anyone.”

Fu Meirou narrowed her eyes. “Lu Yunshang, what’s your relationship with this hussy?”

Lu Yunshang turned back and rolled her eyes. “My friend has a name. Her name is Tang Tang. And my friend is helping to take care of the injured out of kindness. Please show some respect to my friend.”

“You dare talk to me like that?” Fu Meirou’s eyes widened, like a she-wolf about to pounce on Lu Yunshang.

“Mom, enough!” Huang Siyuan couldn’t take it anymore. “This is a hospital, not the Fu family. So many people are watching outside. Don’t you feel ashamed?”

“Huang Siyuan, shut your mouth!” Fu Meirou yelled. “Why should I feel ashamed? She’s the one who should be ashamed. A married woman, seducing men everywhere.”

“Son, you’re too naive. Do you think a woman like her will truly love you? She loves your money. Maybe she could form a soccer team with all the men she’s seduced. Don’t think you’re the only one.”

“Auntie,” Tang Tang, who had been silent, spoke up. “You can despise me for being poor, you can say I’m not worthy of Siyuan, but don’t attack my character or spread rumors. I’ve never seduced any man.”

Tang Tang looked at Huang Siyuan as she spoke. “Including him.”

“Humph,” Fu Meirou snorted coldly. “Don’t pretend. I’ve seen women like you before. Fine, I admit defeat. Tell me, how much money do you want?”

Lu Yunshang looked at Fu Meirou incredulously. “In this world, not everything can be bought with money.”

Fu Meirou raised an eyebrow. “Lu Yunshang, anyone can say that, but you’re the least qualified to say it. You married into our Fu family, wasn’t it for the dowry? Should I remind you? Your father, Lu Mingyuan, took one hundred million yuan in dowry money from our family.”

Tang Tang stared at Lu Yunshang in shock.

Huang Siyuan gave his mother a look.

Fu Meirou glared fiercely at her son and continued, “Now I believe that saying, ‘Birds of a feather flock together.’ What kind of people you associate with…”

“Is that so?” Lu Yunshang interrupted Fu Meirou. “What about you? If you weren’t born into the Fu family, would you have enjoyed wealth and honor? Who doesn’t want to be born into a wealthy family? But it’s not something we can choose, is it?”

“You scold us for loving money. That’s right, who doesn’t love money in this world? Without money, how do we live? You say we covet the Fu family’s money. What about you?”

“What did you say?” Fu Meirou’s eyes blazed.

Lu Yunshang curled her lips and smiled. “If I remember correctly, you’ve always spent the Fu family’s money. Your husband and son also spend the Fu family’s money. You’ve never earned a single cent. What right do you have to talk about others?”

“At least, every cent I spend now is earned by my own hands.”

Tang Tang chimed in. “Auntie, I’ve never spent a cent of Siyuan’s money. The money I spend is also earned by my own hands. Rest assured, I won’t spend a cent of Siyuan’s money in the future, and I won’t look for him again.”

Lu Yunshang smiled knowingly.

After Tang Tang finished speaking, she took Tang Tang’s hand and left.

“Stop!” Fu Meirou yelled. “Want to leave? Not so easy. You made my son like this. Medical expenses, lost wages, and mental distress compensation, you have to pay me everything.”

Tang Tang stopped, tears welling up in her eyes, her body trembling.

Lu Yunshang gritted her teeth, glared at Fu Meirou, then turned to Huang Siyuan. “Huang Siyuan, tell me, should this money be paid? Were you really injured because of Tang Tang?”
