Chapter 4: Jealousy
Lu Yunshang didn’t know how she got back to Mudan Garden.
When she opened the door and entered, she saw that Liu Jingting had already delivered her suitcase.
She felt completely drained and didn’t want to unpack. She pushed the suitcase aside and went into the kitchen to get a bottle of mineral water from the refrigerator.
After unscrewing the cap and gulping down half the bottle, she felt much more comfortable.
Fu Hanzhou’s words kept echoing in her mind: “When did you ever save me?”
Could she have been wrong?
Thinking this, Lu Yunshang quickly put down the bottle, took out her phone from her bag, and dialed a number.
“Brother, are you sure the person I saved that year was Fu Hanzhou? Could it have been a mistake?”
“No mistake,” Liu Jingting said confidently on the other end of the phone. “There were only two people in the Fu family who fit the age description: Fu Hanzhou and Fu Changqing. Fu Changqing was abroad at the time, so it must have been Fu Hanzhou.”
“Are you sure Fu Changqing was abroad?” Lu Yunshang still felt something was wrong. “But why doesn’t Fu Hanzhou remember me at all? He’s never mentioned the cliff incident.”
“Um…” Liu Jingting hesitated. “Maybe for him, that memory wasn’t very pleasant. He might have been traumatized and doesn’t want to bring it up? Or maybe he has amnesia? Hey, why are you worrying about this? Anyway, you two are divorced.”
Lu Yunshang was about to retort when she heard a ringing tone. She looked at the screen; it was her father, Lu Mingyuan.
“Senior brother, the Lu family is calling. I’ll talk to you later.”
After hanging up with Liu Jingting, Lu Yunshang called her father back. As soon as the call connected, Lu Mingyuan’s furious roar came through.
“Get back here immediately!”
Listening to the beeping sound on the phone, Lu Yunshang rolled her eyes. “What a character.”
Half an hour later, Lu Yunshang appeared in the hall of the Lu family villa.
She saw a shocking scene: her stepmother, Shen Yumei, was intimately feeding Lu Mingyuan strawberries.
Lu Yunshang’s stomach churned, and she almost vomited.
She never wanted to eat strawberries again in her life.
When Lu Mingyuan saw his daughter return, his face instantly darkened. He pointed at Lu Yunshang. “Go back to Bi Shui Pavilion immediately. Apologize to Hanzhou properly. Tell him you were just jealous of that woman and won’t interfere anymore. Go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning to remarry.”
“No,” Lu Yunshang said resolutely.
“Even if I’m alone and lonely for the rest of my life, I won’t remarry Fu Hanzhou.”
“You, you, you unfilial daughter! Do you believe I’ll beat you to death right now?” Lu Mingyuan was furious, his neck veins bulging.
He pointed at Lu Yunshang with a trembling hand. “I should have strangled you when you were a baby and let you go with your dead mother. What’s the use of raising you? Ungrateful thing! If you don’t go back, don’t ever set foot in this house again.”
Lu Yunshang trembled.
Her heart felt like it was being pierced by a thousand needles.
“What right do you have to mention my mother? Why did my mother die? Wasn’t it because you two drove her to it?”
“Oh, Yunshang, don’t talk nonsense,” Shen Yumei raised an eyebrow.
“Your mother committed suicide because of depression. She was sick. What does it have to do with us? She refused treatment and now wants to blame others.”
Lu Yunshang glared at Shen Yumei. “Who are you? Do you have any right to speak? Why did my mother get depression? Wasn’t it because of a shameless woman showing up pregnant and provoking her?”
“Lu Yunshang!” Lu Mingyuan stood up. “That’s enough! I’ll ask you one last time: are you remarrying or not?”
“Not remarrying,” Lu Yunshang said firmly.
“Fine, I’ll beat you to death today, you unfilial daughter!” Lu Mingyuan said as he searched for something, finally grabbing a back scratcher and charging towards her.
Lu Yunshang was quick-witted and grabbed the back scratcher. “Mr. Lu, are you using this thing to scratch my itch? Want to discipline me? What right do you have? You sold me to the Fu family for 100 million yuan. I haven’t settled the score with you yet.”
“Just right, let’s settle the score today. Let’s split that 100 million 50/50. Transfer my 50 million to my card.”
Lu Mingyuan was so shocked his mouth hung open. This girl not only defied him but also dared to haggle with him. “Get out! Lu Mingyuan doesn’t have a daughter like you. Don’t ever step foot in this house again.”
Lu Yunshang threw away the back scratcher and glared at Shen Yumei. “Let me correct you. It was my grandparents who raised me, not you. And they used the money my mother left behind. Also, this house was left to my mother by my grandfather.”
“I’m just letting you live here temporarily. One day, I’ll come back to reclaim the house and the company.”
Lu Mingyuan was so angry he threw the back scratcher to the ground and stomped his feet.
Shen Yumei’s heart was in turmoil. This girl seemed different this time. Before, she wouldn’t fight back, but now she dared to challenge them and wanted to take back the house and the company.
She was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, hiding it well.
She had to call her son and daughter back immediately.
Lu Yunshang left the Lu family’s house and looked back at the villa behind her, her brows furrowed.
She took out her phone and called Liu Jingting again. “Senior brother, we need to hurry up with the acquisition of my family’s company. Also, I want to get back the house my grandfather left me. I want everything my grandfather left behind.”
“Your call is timely. I was just about to call you. Su Qitai invited us to meet at the Blue Bay Club at 8 tonight. I’m going to take the perfume you made today to show him. Are you coming with me tonight?”
“Okay, senior brother. I’ll go home and get ready. See you at Blue Bay at 8.”
Lu Yunshang hung up the phone, thinking that she needed to find a company to help with the acquisition. She needed to meet more people. She should attend more such meetings in the future to build connections and make things easier.
Driving back to Mudan Garden, Lu Yunshang cooked herself a bowl of hot soup noodles with eggs. After eating, she took a good shower, put on light makeup, chose a white V-neck knitted jumpsuit with a fishtail skirt, paired it with a camel-colored wool coat and white ankle boots.
When she was ready, it was almost time. She went downstairs to the underground parking garage to drive her BMW to Blue Bay.
When she arrived at the club, Liu Jingting’s call came in. “Yunshang, I’m already here. Tell the attendant it’s the Nightingale room on the fifth floor. Remember?”
“I remember, senior brother. I’ll go up after I park.”
Blue Bay was the largest and most luxurious club in Huacheng. Every night, the city’s wealthy flocked here, and parking was very difficult. Lu Yunshang was worried about finding a space when she saw a car starting to leave.
Lu Yunshang quickly reversed to make way for the car, but a “bang” came from behind.
Oh no, Lu Yunshang’s heart sank. She must have hit the car behind her.
She took her phone and got out of the car to check. She was shocked. She had hit a Maybach.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I…” Lu Yunshang was about to explain when she realized the driver looked familiar. “Haven’t we met somewhere before? Do you know me?”
“I know you, Miss Lu. We met at the old house this afternoon,” the driver replied.
“The old house?” Lu Yunshang tried to recall.
At this time, the back door of the Maybach opened, and a long leg extended.
Lu Yunshang saw the silver-gray suit and her heart leaped into her throat. Her face flushed.
Oh dear, she had stepped on a tiger’s tail.
