Chapter 6: Unwilling
Jiang Wentao’s silence has given the answer.
Jiang Yining snorted in self-deprecation. She had originally still held out a glimmer of hope, thinking that it was only Zhao Hong herself who wanted her to transfer the house.
In this moment of silence, Jiang Yining understood what Jiang Wentao meant.
Jiang Yining was sitting at the desk in front of the window. The street lamp downstairs had been broken for the past few days and no one had repaired it, so the light was flickering.
Just now, the faint light went out completely without any warning.
Jiang Yining looked at the extinguished lights and felt empty inside.
Her mother passed away, and she only had one close relative left in the world. She never cared what Zhao Hong thought, she only cared about her father.
After a while, Jiang Wentao said, “Ningning, Daddy has no other choice. Yangyang is your brother, can’t you help him?”
”Then ask Jiang Yiyang if he considers me as his sister.”
Although Jiang Yiyang was still a child, Zhao Hong had instilled in him a lot of words that she was a bad sister.
Now he saw his sister as if she were a bad person.
Jiang Yining didn’t care. She felt sorry for Jiang Yiyang for having such a mother with distorted values.
Jiang Wentao sighed and said nothing more.
”Dad, this house originally belonged to you. I had no objection to the transfer, but Zhao Hong treated me like this, and now you force me to do it.”
Jiang Yining paused for a moment and said directly what he was thinking, “I don’t want to transfer the house.”
After saying that, Jiang Yining hung up the call without waiting for her father to speak.
She got up, closed the windows and curtains, turned on the air conditioner and prepared to go to bed.
she closed her eyes, but her mind was full of thoughts.
As long as Zhao Hong doesn’t achieve her goal, she won’t have peace. In the past, she endured it again and again for the sake of her father.
Now it seems that she doesn’t need to care about this pitiful family affection anymore.
But it takes an opportunity to completely break off relations with them.
The phone next to the pillow lit up.
Jiang Yining picked it up and took a look.
Dad: [Ningning, I am sorry for you. I hope you can reconsider the transfer of the house. You can’t just let Yangyang go to any school. You are a teacher and you know how important a good education is. As for your blind date, I have told your aunt Hong that she is not allowed to interfere.]
Jiang Yining had just finished reading when he received a new message.
[I will tell your aunt and ask her to help you find a suitable blind date. You are at the age where you should get married, and there are no suitable boys in school. It won’t hurt to get to know a few more people while you are still young.]
After reading these two messages, Jiang Yining thought sadly that she was not sure how sincere her father’s words were.
Jiang Yiyang has a Lincheng household registration, so he can go to school nearby, in a school near his home. She also studied in this school before.
Asking her to transfer the ownership so that Jiang Yiyang could study was just an excuse made by Zhao Hong.
Jiang Yining closed his eyes, and then replied, “I have plans, and I don’t need you to interfere in my affairs. It’s late now, let’s talk about it later.”
Jiang Wentao didn’t send any more messages.
The next day, he sent a message asking Jiang Yining whether she would come home for dinner on the weekend. Jiang Yining replied “no” and ignored him.
Jiang Yining made an appointment with the hairstylist recommended by Zhang Qiao.
On the day she got her hair done, she received a call from He Chi’s mother. When Jiang Yining saw the incoming call, she didn’t know why Teacher Lin called her at this time.
Jiang Yining answered it.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Teacher Lin heard the sound of a car on the other end of the phone and realized that Jiang Yining was outside.
She cut to the chase, “Yining, are you free tomorrow at noon? I’d like to invite you to my house for dinner.”
Teacher Lin suddenly asked her to come to his house for dinner. Jiang Yining was a little surprised, but she agreed.
He Yuwen saw Lin Shu hanging up the phone outside, so he walked into the study and asked, “It’s your birthday tomorrow, and our family of three will have dinner at home.”
”Yining is a rather reserved child. I don’t think it’s a good idea to let Yining come as well.”
Lin Shu put the pen in his hand on the table and said, “Tell that bastard not to come back. I don’t have this son.”
Teacher Lin, who has always been open-minded, was so angry at her son that her heart ached.
Unable to scold her son, Lin Shu took out her anger on her husband, “It’s all your fault. You always indulge him. He didn’t listen to my advice before. After leaving the police force, he insisted on starting a business with his friends.”
”The company was doing well, but he insisted on coming back to open a bar.”
He Yuwen quietly took a step back and spoke for his son, “He Chi said that he still has shares, but he is no longer involved in the management.”
”I think it’s good that he came back. He can help his aunt share some of the burden. It’s better to keep him under our watch…”
Lin Shu became even angrier. “What’s the point of doing that in front of us? I begged people to introduce him to a blind date, but he just told the girl that he likes men.”
Lin Shu realized it later and looked at her husband in disbelief, “He Chi said he likes men?”
”He likes men!”
”He Yuwen, your son said he likes men!”
He Yuwen knew He Chi’s temper, and this was just an excuse for He Chi to reject the other party.
If he really liked men, he would have told his family about it long ago.
He comforted his wife, “No, didn’t the matchmaker say that after the blind date, He Chi left the coffee shop with a girl? Maybe there is something going on.”
Lin Shu was half-believing and half-doubting. She sighed, “It’s okay. If he likes men, I’ll accept it. I don’t bother to care about your son’s affairs.”
Seeing that she was so angry, He Yuwen tried to change the subject.
”Yes, it’s He Chi, that bastard. I’ll scold him for you when he comes back. You’ve made yourself sick with anger.”
”By the way, what did Teacher Dong say to you this morning?”
His wife has a good relationship with Jiang Yining as a teacher and student, but she would not invite her to her home for dinner on her birthday.
Teacher Dong lives in the same residential complex as Jiang Yining, so something must have happened at Jiang Yining’s home.
He Yuwen guessed correctly.
After being asked this by him, Lin Shu no longer cared about the asshole thing his son had done.
”Teacher Dong told me that Yining’s family asked her to go on a blind date.”
Jiang Yining is still young, but it is normal for his family to be anxious.
”It’s also good to go on a blind date early, so you have time to get to know each other slowly.”
Lin Shu glared at him and said, “What’s good about that?”
”The other party is almost 40 years old, and is married for the second time with a child. Yining is not only successful and well-mannered, but also so young and beautiful.”
”Last year, Yining was recognized as an outstanding young teacher by the city. She has reached the end of her working years. If there are vacancies in her school this year, she can be rated as a first-level teacher.”
Lin Shu became angrier and angrier as he spoke. “Why would her family treat such an outstanding girl so badly? Yining just doesn’t want to be in a relationship, otherwise there would be plenty of people pursuing her.”
”If Yining were my daughter, I would love her so much!”
He Yuwen mentioned, “Yining is also on a blind date, should we ask them if they have…”
Before he could finish his words, Lin Shu denied him, “I won’t ask, Yining doesn’t like your son.
”This brat is not fit for life. I think we should stop introducing him to blind dates in the future, so as to avoid causing harm to others.”
He Yuwen knew that she was just saying it, and she must be worried about her son in her heart.
It happened that He Chi called, and He Yuwen saw that Lin Shu was still angry, so he went to the balcony to answer the phone.
He Chi asked, “Dad, it’s Mom’s birthday tomorrow. I’m taking you out to eat. Let’s see if you like Western or Chinese food.”
”Just eat at home. If you go out, it will be inconvenient for your mother to scold you.”
He Chi: “…”
Lin Shu walked out of the study and knew it was his son who called, so he said to He Yuwen, “Tell him to come back in the evening. We will have lunch with Yining at noon.”
