Chapter 14: Space Upgrade

After everyone had rested for a while, Lin Luoluo instructed everyone to pack up and continue on their journey. When their carriage passed by the group of refugees, the man leading them knelt down in the direction the carriage was heading.

“Thank you, Miss, for your kindness,” he said, bowing three times before standing up and leading the others away.

Lin Luoluo suddenly felt a golden energy flow into her body, which puzzled her. She followed the source of the energy and lifted the curtain of the carriage. It turned out that this energy came from the refugees’ gratitude.

Just as Lin Luoluo thought she was imagining things due to her excitement, the small beast, with its paw, tugged at the corner of her pants.

“Master, I’m here!”

Lin Luoluo looked down and saw a small beast with round eyes, looking at her adorably. The beast was pure white, resembling a little white fox.

Lin Luoluo wasn’t afraid and squatted down to pick it up.

“Are you a little fox?” she asked while gently petting its fur.

“Master, I’m not a fox! I am the spirit of space. I can take any form, but I’m in this animal form right now because I lack spiritual power,” the beast replied.

“Oh! I see!”

“Then you just said that I can open these using my mind, right?”

“Yes, Master,” the small beast nodded.

Lin Luoluo followed its advice and tried it out, successfully opening one of the space rings.

The space inside wasn’t very large but was still decent, about two hundred square meters. It was empty for now, but Lin Luoluo checked every corner and found it all empty. Though there was nothing inside, she still felt that this upgrade had brought a lot of benefits.

After examining everything, she packed everything away and turned to the small beast.

“What’s your name, little one?”

“Master, my name is Number One. I was the first one made by the divine being to carry out a mission. But something went wrong,” the beast explained.

“A mission? What does that mean?” Lin Luoluo caught the two words and seemed to realize something.

“It means I need to gather merit. Once I gather enough merit and upgrade to the full level, you can make a wish come true,” the beast said.

“Can I return to my original world?” Lin Luoluo’s eyes lit up.

“Of course,” the beast replied.

Then, she suddenly remembered how she had bathed in the space before, wondering if the beast had seen her. So…

“Let me see if you’re male or female,” she said, flipping the small beast over to inspect.

“Well then, when you transform, you’ll be a girl,” Lin Luoluo said firmly.

After the beast nodded in agreement, she let it go.

Bai Ling, escaping from her grasp, turned its head away in a mix of shyness and anger, ignoring her. “Hmph…”

Lin Luoluo, amused by its expression, didn’t mind. She used her mind to plant crops on the extra land and picked some fruits.

Afterward, she hugged Bai Ling again and gently petted it, coaxing it. “Alright, alright, don’t be angry. I promise I won’t do it again. Come on, eat a fruit.”

Bai Ling, seeing her apologize and offer fruit, grumbled but reluctantly accepted the fruit and jumped out. After finishing it, it said, “This time, I’ll reluctantly forgive you.”
