Chapter 17: Twin Babies, Wanwan Takes on a Master
After arranging for the children, Lin Luoluo went to check on the grain sales.
Lin Zhong had made arrangements with the owners of several grain shops, and when Lin Luoluo arrived, they quickly came over to greet her.
“Master, you’re just in time. Do you think we should send the jade items and silver coins back first?”
“Let’s wait until we’re done, and take them all back together.”
By mid-afternoon, all the grain in the warehouse had been sold out. Outside, there was still a long line of people who, upon hearing that the grain had been sold, could only sigh in frustration and buy slightly more expensive grain from the shops.
Returning to the inn with the silver and jade items, Lin Luoluo stored them in her space, worried they might be noticed by some ill-intentioned people.
Having sweated a lot, Lin Luoluo went into the space to wash up. As soon as she entered, she was bombarded with a greeting.
“Master, you finally came to see me! I’ve been so bored, my hair is almost growing mushrooms! I’ve harvested these crops several times already.”
Lin Luoluo was surprised. In just two days outside, the space had collected so many crops. It seemed that not only had the space grown bigger, but the flow of time within it had also accelerated.
“I’m here now! Besides, it’s only been two days outside.”
She hugged it and stroked its fur, and Bai Ling happily enjoyed the attention.
“Be good and play for a while, I’ll go take a bath and come back to play with you,” Lin Luoluo said as she gently placed it on the ground.
After her bath, Lin Luoluo felt much lighter and refreshed.
Now that Bai Ling was taking care of the space, Lin Luoluo had nothing to do, so she picked up a martial arts manual to practice. In any era, the stronger you are, the better you can protect those around you.
“Bai Ling, do you think I’ll ever be able to defeat the martial arts masters of this world?” Lin Luoluo asked as she lay on the grass, looking at Bai Ling.
“Of course! These martial arts manuals were collected by the gods during their time in the mortal realm. Besides, you have the space, the spiritual spring, and the divine pills from the gods. It’s no problem for you to dominate this world.”
Bai Ling proudly tilted its head like a fox.
“Hehe… I don’t have such grand ambitions. I just want to protect my younger brother, sister, and the baby so they can grow up safely and live carefree lives.”
“Master, maybe one day you can join me in the Immortal Realm!”
“Don’t even think about it. I think being a mortal is great. The days of cultivating immortality are so long, and when you see everyone you care about gone, leaving you alone—how painful that must be.”
Bai Ling looked at her blankly, not fully understanding its master’s thoughts. Not understanding, it decided not to think too hard and lay down on the grass, closing its eyes for a nap.
Seeing Bai Ling asleep, Lin Luoluo went for another bath before leaving the space.
That evening, when everyone gathered for dinner, Doctor Zhou, noticing that Lin Luoluo had been so energetic these past few days, asked her to extend her hand for a pulse.
Doctor Zhou knew that she had a secret, but didn’t ask any questions, acting as though he hadn’t noticed. Of course, Lin Luoluo didn’t hide anything from him.
Although she knew that with the spiritual spring water, the baby would be fine, she didn’t hesitate and extended her hand for him to check.
“Eh…” Doctor Zhou furrowed his brow and asked her to switch hands.
He checked for a long time, so long that everyone began to worry that something might be wrong with the baby. Only Lin Luoluo remained calm.
After a long moment, Doctor Zhou finally released her hand, and everyone anxiously awaited his diagnosis. With a raised eyebrow, Doctor Zhou said, “The baby is fine and very healthy.”
Hearing this, everyone sighed in relief, but before they could relax fully, Doctor Zhou added, “Congratulations, miss, you’re carrying twins.”
“Twins?” Aunt Zhong asked.
Doctor Zhou nodded.
“Dr., does ‘twins’ mean there are two babies?” Wanwan asked eagerly.
“Oh… looks like I’ll have another nephew!” Lin Zirui said excitedly.
“Yes! Maybe one will be a little master and the other a little miss. This way, the young lady will have both sons and daughters,” Chun Tao chimed in.
“Master is really impressive, two in one go!” the children also chatted excitedly.
Lin Zhong then instructed the waiter to bring more dishes, so they could celebrate this joyful occasion.
Only Lin Luoluo remained lost in thought, her mind repeating Doctor Zhou’s words, “You’re carrying twins.” It took her a while to come back to her senses.
She gently rubbed her belly, a smile of happiness spreading across her face. “This is so wonderful. I’m going to have two babies!”
Aunt Zhong, though happy, still expressed some concern. “Doctor Zhou, do you think you could stay with us until the master gives birth? Giving birth is always a dangerous ordeal for women, especially with twins.”
Hearing Aunt Zhong’s words, Lin Luoluo froze. ‘That’s right! In this ancient time, there’s no such thing as a cesarean section. Giving birth to twins naturally is indeed risky.’
Bai Ling, sensing her thoughts, responded in the space.
“Master, don’t worry. As long as I’m here, you will be safe.”
With Bai Ling’s reassurance, Lin Luoluo felt at ease.
“I had planned to stay until the girl gives birth. Don’t worry! With me here, everything will be fine,” Doctor Zhou said.
When Aunt Zhong heard that Doctor Zhou would stay, she finally relaxed.
Once Lin Luoluo learned that he would stay, she began thinking to herself, her eyes darting around.
“Old man, do you accept female disciples?”
“Female disciples? I’ve never taken one, but if there’s talent, it’s not impossible.”
“How about Wanwan?”
Doctor Zhou raised an eyebrow and glanced at Wanwan, who was eagerly looking at him.
“Not bad, but she’s still a little lacking to be my disciple.”
Wanwan’s face fell, disappointed.
“Old man, what about this? Will this make you reconsider?” Lin Luoluo pulled out a medicinal formula from the space and waved it in front of him.
Doctor Zhou took it and looked at it, growing increasingly shocked.
“This is… this is an ancient formula that was lost to time. Girl, where did you get this?” He grabbed Lin Luoluo’s hand in excitement.
“I have many more formulas like this. As for where I got them from, I’m afraid I can’t tell you.”
“Sorry, I was too reckless.”
“Old man, will you make an exception?”
“Of course! Wanwan is clever and smart. I’ve been wanting to take her as my disciple for a long time.”
The sudden shift in the conversation made Lin Luoluo twitch her lips, but she didn’t expose him.
Lin Luoluo winked at Wanwan, who immediately kneeled in front of Doctor Zhou with a ‘plop.’
“Master, please accept my bow.” She knocked her head three times with a loud ‘thunk.’
Chun Tao quickly poured tea for Wanwan, who took the cup with both hands, raising it to Doctor Zhou’s forehead.
“Master, please have some tea.”
Doctor Zhou took the cup and sipped it.
“Mm! Now that you’re my disciple, once you learn the medical arts, you must never use them to harm others. As for curing diseases and saving people, do your best.”
“Disciple will obey Master’s teachings!”
“Alright, get up now! Starting tomorrow, follow your senior brother to learn.”
“Yes, Master!”
After everything was done, Doctor Zhou, now looking eager to please, quietly approached Lin Luoluo and whispered, “Girl, about that formula?”
Lin Luoluo laughed and handed it to him. “Take this one for now. I’ll give you the rest later.”
Doctor Zhou carefully took the formula and placed it in his robe, quickly finishing his dinner before running off to his room to study.
Once he was gone, Wanwan clung to Lin Luoluo’s arm, acting sweet.
“Big sister, thank you! I will study hard.”
“No need to thank me. As long as you’re safe and happy, that’s all I want. Now go eat your meal,” Lin Luoluo said, patting her head.
