Chapter 18: Space Levels Up Again

After finishing their meal, Lin Luoluo gathered Lin Da and the others in a room.

Lin Luoluo took out eleven storage bags from the space and placed them on the table.

“These are storage bags. Use your blood to bind with them!” she said.

Lin Da and the others were slightly confused but obediently followed her instructions. Once they bound with the bags, their eyes were filled with surprise and excitement.

“Thank you, Master, for the gift,” they all knelt on one knee to express their gratitude.

When midnight arrived, Bai Ling reminded Lin Luoluo to get up. After changing into her night outfit and climbing out the window, Lin Da and the others were already waiting outside the inn.

Lin Luoluo nodded at them, signaling to start. The group then quickly took off, flying toward the south gate. They stopped in a shadowed area near the city wall.

“I’ll distract the guards above. Lin Da, you lead them out from here,” Lin Luoluo instructed.

“Yes, Master. Be careful, and look out for the little masters,” Lin Da responded.

“Understood,” Lin Luoluo said, before leaping up onto the city wall.

She threw a stone in the distance, drawing the guards away. Lin Da and the others seized the opportunity and swiftly flew through the city gates, with Lin Luoluo following closely behind.

Under the cover of darkness, they spread out among the refugees, leaving food behind as they passed. They used their light body skills to the fullest, weaving in and out of the tens of thousands of refugees.

When Lin Luoluo reached a tent, she encountered a woman who had been awake, trying to calm her crying child. At that moment, they bumped into each other.

The woman, frightened by Lin Luoluo’s all-black attire and masked face, was too scared to speak. The little girl, startled, was about to cry out loudly. Realizing the situation, Lin Luoluo quickly pulled a steamed bun from her space and stuffed it into the girl’s mouth, then motioned for silence.

The girl, hungry and restless, brightened up at the sight of the bun and started eating eagerly. The woman, unable to stop her, was distracted. Lin Luoluo quickly dropped a bag of food and disappeared.

The woman opened the bag to find it filled with food and hurriedly covered her mouth. She entered the tent, calling her husband to bring the food inside.

Once the man brought the food in, he went to inform his acquaintances about the good deed, and soon the entire refugee camp was buzzing with excitement.

Lin Luoluo and her group finished their task and, seeing that the refugees were already stirred up, quickly used their light body skills to leave.

When Lin Luoluo returned to the inn, she felt a surge of merit energy flow toward her.

“Boom—” The entire space shook. The upgrade took about an hour, and once the space stabilized, Lin Luoluo entered it.

This upgrade added a forest area to the space. The black land remained unchanged, and the thatched house transformed into a large brick house. But the items inside hadn’t changed much, though the medicinal cabinet likely needed another upgrade before it could be opened. A hot spring had been added for bathing.

Bai Ling bounced out of the forest, munching on a spirit fruit.

“Master, the space has upgraded again!”

‘At this rate, we’ll be able to go back soon, hehe…’ Bai Ling’s entire being was filled with excitement.

“Hmm~ With this upgrade, why do you still look the same?” Lin Luoluo sighed, observing Bai Ling.

Hearing her master’s comment, Bai Ling felt deflated.

“Who says I haven’t changed? Didn’t you notice my fur is even whiter and shinier than before?”

Lin Luoluo circled around her but shook her head.

“I honestly didn’t notice.”

Seeing Lin Luoluo’s indifference, Bai Ling became a bit discouraged.

“Alright, just keep managing the space. I’m going to rest now!” Lin Luoluo said, leaving without waiting for Bai Ling’s response.

The next morning, everyone was up early, packing up and preparing the carts. Since they had added more than fifty children and teenagers, Lin Da went to buy a few more carts to ensure everyone could fit without slowing down their journey.

After everything was prepared, they had a hearty breakfast before setting off.

Just as they left the Tianyang Prefecture, Chu Chenyu led his troops to set up camp twenty miles outside the city.

“Report!”

“Enter.”

“General, there are tens of thousands of refugees gathered outside the south gate of Tianyang Prefecture.”

“Go, tell the other generals to take a detour tomorrow,” Chu Chenyu ordered.

“Yes, sir!”

After the soldier left, Chu Chenyu wrote a memorial and, once the ink dried, called for Liuyun.

“Liuyun, send this memorial to the palace.”

“Yes, Master!”

After Liuyun left, Chu Chenyu took out a handkerchief that Lin Luoluo had used before and quietly stared at it.

“Luoluo, I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect you.”

“I shouldn’t have treated you like that. Only after you left did I realize my heart was empty.”

At this moment, he appeared like a lovesick man, and if Lin Luoluo were here, she would have thought he was pretending.

The next morning, Chu Chenyu set off again, not daring to delay, as the further west he went, the more desolate it became. Most of the people had fled.

The more he traveled, the more anxious his heart became. Finally, after a month, they reached the western border.

At this time, the Yuxi Pass had already fallen, and the soldiers had retreated to Yun City.

When Chu Chenyu arrived, a battle was already taking place. The Southern Xian soldiers were losing ground, and Yun City was on the verge of falling.

“Brother, it looks like we won’t make it back today,” a small soldier said to his companion.

“Eighteen years later, another hero will arise. Even if I die, I’ll take one more with me,” a man with a beard said as he eliminated an enemy soldier.

“General!” A young soldier rushed to the fallen General Yan Hua.

“I’m fine! Take care of yourself,” Yan Hua grunted, pushing the enemy away, pulling the sword out of his chest. Thankfully, the wound wasn’t deep.

Looking at his soldiers falling one by one, Yan Hua felt a surge of grief and anger, ‘When will the reinforcements arrive? Yun City is likely to fall.’

Just as Yan Hua was catching his breath, the distant sound of hooves echoed loudly.

“It’s the reinforcements! Yun City is saved, hahahaha…!” Yan Hua shouted.

“Our reinforcements have arrived, soldiers, charge! Let’s avenge our fallen brothers!” Yan Hua yelled, and the Southern Xian soldiers’ morale soared.

“Charge! Kill…” they shouted.

Soon, Chu Chenyu’s reinforcements clashed with the enemy forces, and the situation turned around immediately.

Seeing the situation, the Summer Kingdom generals ordered a retreat.

Chu Chenyu did not send troops to pursue but instead ordered them to clean the battlefield.

“General Yan Hua, I’ve heard of your bravery,” Chu Chenyu said as he supported Yan Hua, who had been injured.

“No need for formalities, General. You’ve been injured. Go have the military doctor treat your wounds. We’ll discuss other matters later.”

Chu Chenyu, seeing his injuries, hurriedly helped him so that he didn’t have to salute.

They worked until the next day, tending to the wounded soldiers.
