Chapter 19: Encountering Robbers and Wiping Them Out
After leaving Tianyang Prefecture, Lin Luoluo headed south.
By day, they traveled, and by night, they distributed food to the disaster victims they encountered. Seeing their group armed with swords and exuding an unapproachable aura, no one dared to target them, and their journey remained peaceful.
That was until they passed through a remote official road surrounded by dense forests, where everything was eerily quiet.
The carriage came to a halt.
“There’s something off. Lin Da, protect the master and the others,” Lin Zhong whispered.
Lin Da didn’t waste any time, quickly leading his group to the carriage to shield it, positioning themselves defensively behind it.
The robbers didn’t keep them waiting long and suddenly swarmed from the forest, surrounding them in an instant.
“Wanwan, Zirui, are you scared?” Lin Luoluo asked, turning to the children. She hoped they could grow from this experience.
“Big sister, we’re not scared.” The two children answered in unison.
“Miss, Chun Tao isn’t scared either.”
They had seen much on this journey and had been practicing their skills, so facing these robbers didn’t faze them.
“Stay in the carriage and protect yourselves. I’ll go take a look.” Lin Luoluo finished, not giving them a chance to respond before stepping out of the carriage.
“Miss (Big sister)!”
They wanted to stop her, but it was too late, and they could only stay in the carriage.
Outside, the scene was a whirlwind of flashing blades. Lin Luoluo stepped out and guarded the surroundings, not allowing the robbers to get any closer, while instructing Lin Da and his group to protect the children and the others.
After dispatching the nearby robbers, Lin Luoluo noticed Lin Zhong was struggling against the leader of the robbers, so she rushed forward and helped him subdue the bandit leader.
Soon, the surviving robbers were bound.
“Where’s your hideout?” Lin Luoluo asked, pressing her sword to the leader’s throat.
The bandit leader turned his head away, refusing to answer.
“Master, should we send them to the authorities?” Lin Zhong suggested.
Lin Luoluo was about to agree when she noticed a glimmer of pride in the bandit leader’s eyes. She immediately changed her mind.
“Lin Da, take them further away,” she said, making a throat-slitting gesture.
Lin Da and the others led the robbers away from the convoy, ready to act.
The bandit leader couldn’t sit still any longer.
“Hero, spare us! If you spare our lives, I’ll tell you the location of the entire mountain hideout!”
‘Damn it, always robbing others, but never expected to run into someone tough this time.’
‘Once we get to the mountain, I’ll make sure they never come back.’
“Get up and lead the way,” Lin Luoluo nodded, signaling Lin Da to pull the leader to his feet and motioning for them to watch the rest of the robbers.
Lin Luoluo and Lin Da, along with their group, followed the leader up the mountain. The winding path took nearly an hour before they finally saw the entrance to the bandit lair.
“Quick! Notify the big boss! The second boss has been captured and is bringing people this way!” A man with a shifty expression yelled from a lookout post.
The man wasted no time and rushed into the hideout.
Meanwhile, inside the hideout, a tall man with a long scar across his face, looking fierce, was about to harm a woman.
“Report!”
“Speak,” the man growled, clearly annoyed by the interruption.
“The second boss has been caught and is bringing people here!”
“What?”
The man’s face filled with shock as he shoved the woman aside and gestured for her to be taken away.
Ever since arriving at this mountain, they had been paying a thousand taels of gold to the county magistrate every year, ensuring they were left alone. They hadn’t encountered any trouble with passing merchants until today, when they had finally run into a formidable opponent.
The man’s eyes narrowed, glinting dangerously.
“Let’s go. Gather all the brothers. We’ll deal with this ourselves.”
Just as they stood at the entrance to the hideout, the door suddenly slammed open with a loud bang.
The bandit leader saw the person leading the group was a young girl in men’s clothing, looking delicate and pale. He sneered mockingly.
“Little lady, here to be the mountain lord’s wife? Hahaha…”
“Seek death.”
Lin Da, seeing the insult to his master, swiftly dashed forward and severed the bandit leader’s throat with a single sword strike, causing blood to splatter everywhere.
The bandit leader was dead, and the rest of his subordinates stood frozen, shocked.
One of the smaller bandit leaders, who often followed the big boss, was the first to react.
“He killed the big boss! Get him!”
Shouts echoed as more bandits rushed out of the hideout, surrounding Lin Luoluo’s group.
Taking advantage of their distraction, the second-in-command quickly cut his ropes and attacked Lin Luoluo.
It seemed like Lin Luoluo had eyes on the back of her head, as she dodged his strike effortlessly, turning and kicking him to the ground.
Lin Er swiftly followed up with a sword that sliced through his throat.
The bandits, witnessing this, involuntarily swallowed, their fear mounting.
“Don’t retreat! Think of the treasure inside the hideout! It’s enough for us to live comfortably for the rest of our lives!” The small bandit leader tried to rally the others by tempting them with wealth.
As expected, driven by greed, many of them rushed forward, undeterred by the imminent danger.
Although their martial skills were decent, they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of bandits.
After they fought to exhaustion, there were still a sea of bandits coming at them.
Lin Luoluo was disgusted by the sight and couldn’t help but vomit. After drinking some spiritual spring water, she felt slightly better.
As a modern-day young girl from a peaceful era, the violence she witnessed today was a huge shock. She wasn’t yet prepared to deal with lethal situations, but seeing how Lin Da and the others effortlessly handled it, combined with the corpses littering the ground, she couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. Still, compared to other girls, she adapted fairly quickly.
She took a talisman from her space, infused it with spiritual energy, and threw it at the bandits, causing time to freeze instantly.
Lin Da and the others wanted to sit down and catch their breath, but the sight of the bloodstained ground made it impossible to relax.
Seeing that the talisman had worked, Lin Luoluo sighed in relief, handing out spiritual spring water for everyone to drink. After replenishing herself, she finally felt steady.
“Master, what should we do with these people? Should we kill them all?”
Lin Luoluo frowned, feeling uneasy. She found it difficult to kill so many, even though none of them were good people.
“Master, you can store them in your space. You’ll need people to help you build things when it upgrades,” a gentle voice, White Spirit, said suddenly.
“That’s a great idea, White Spirit! But what if they’re treacherous?”
“That’s simple. I’ll teach you a spell. Once you store them in your space, you can cast a binding spell on them, turning them into your loyal servants. If they ever betray you, just think it, and they’ll die instantly.”
“White Spirit, you’re amazing!”
Lin Luoluo waved her hand, and the bandits disappeared, along with her, into the space.
Lin Da and the others stood in stunned silence, amazed by what they had just witnessed. While they knew their master was powerful, seeing her make people disappear right before their eyes was still a shock.
“Big… Big Brother, am I seeing things?” Lin Er rubbed his eyes.
“No, Six, we all saw it,” Lin Yi, Lin Da, Lin Er, and Lin Shi confirmed.
Lin Da nodded.
“Before the master comes out, let’s gather the bodies.”
“Yes, Big Brother,” Lin Er replied.
“Understood, Big Brother,” Lin Shi added.
