Chapter 7: System Binding
Although anyone with eyes could see that the Yan family’s girl hadn’t suffered a loss, he understood the kind of people under his command. It must have been Song Donglai who had done something excessive for the Yan family to react like that. Moreover, Song Donglai opening the prison door privately was indeed a serious offense. Most importantly, he still had to give face to Lord Yu.
The farce ended hastily like this.
Yan Huan also learned from Yu Yiran that they would have to set off the next day.
To Ganzhou, a godforsaken place.
Yan Huan was still very happy to learn that she didn’t have to parade through the streets. Although she had mentally prepared herself, the thought of being pelted with rotten eggs and stones like she had seen on TV was still unacceptable.
Yu Yiran had prepared some inconspicuous things for the Yan family, but because of the hot weather, they couldn’t be stored for long. By the third day on the road, the Yan family’s private reserves were already empty.
This group of people all had some family wealth, but not much, and they were all in a similar situation now.
Yan Huan didn’t dare to be too conspicuous and was also afraid of not being able to explain the source of things, so naturally, she didn’t dare to take things out of the space casually.
Jiang Duo’er skipped over from not far away, her face full of excitement, and said, “Huanhuan, your family’s surplus food isn’t much either, right? Let’s go pick wild vegetables together! There are many edible wild vegetables around here.”
Hearing this, Xu Shi’s eyes lit up. It sounded like a lot of fun. She had been cooped up every day on the road and was almost suffocating. It would be nice to go out for a stroll.
After spending these few days together, Yan Huan knew what kind of trouble Xu Shi was going to cause just by the way she stuck out her rear end, and her head instantly ached.
Her mother was not only ignorant of household affairs but was simply carefree. She had already been reduced to a criminal, yet she could maintain such a state of mind, which was simply divine.
Even if she didn’t ask, she knew that Xu Shi definitely didn’t know that there was no surplus food left.
Looking at her excited face, Yan Huan knew she had to consider her delicate feelings and couldn’t directly reject her. She could only say euphemistically, “Mother, Father and brothers have been called by the officials to do manual labor. They will definitely be hungry when they come back later. Relying solely on those few vegetable buns they give out won’t be enough to sustain them. Duo’er and I will go and come back quickly. Mother, please stay home and help Jiang Mama cook porridge.”
Although Xu Shi wanted to go out for a walk, the thought of her husband and sons going hungry made her give up the idea, and she could only reluctantly agree.
Having dissuaded Xu Shi, Yan Huan slowly breathed a sigh of relief. Without Xu Shi around, with Duo’er as a cover later, she could still take out some things from the space for a snack.
Along the way, the officials, having been bribed, were quite polite to them.
Although they made the men do some manual labor every day to exhaust their energy, they were quite considerate of the female relatives and didn’t deliberately make things difficult for them. Everyone was very satisfied with this, as no one had expected such treatment at the beginning.
Even, everyone could find some food to snack on along the way. If it weren’t for the shackles on their feet, it would almost feel like a spring outing.
Especially the Jiang family, whose entire household had explosive combat power, was simply praised by everyone. The prey hunted by the energetic young men of the Jiang family was not only enough for themselves but also shared with others. Everyone knew that following the Jiang family meant having meat to eat.
Jiang Duo’er also felt that she had reached the peak of her life because of this. In the past few days, the gloominess from the beginning had completely disappeared, and she was lively and happy all day long.
Jiang Duo’er pulled Yan Huan along, constantly talking about the interesting things that had happened in the past few days.
How she could catch wild pheasants and rabbits with her bare hands, how she could draw a three-hundred-pound bow, how she could break a large stone with her chest, and when she got excited, she would even gesture, her eyebrows dancing and her face glowing.
Yan Huan seemed to be infected by her, and a smile appeared on her face.
“Huanhuan, actually, I think things are pretty good now. The officials aren’t making things difficult for us. When we get to Ganzhou, with my martial arts and your space, are we still afraid of not living well?”
This place had mountains and water, so there were naturally many wild vegetables. The two of them casually picked and their baskets were full. They washed the vegetables, and since there was still plenty of time, Yan Huan told Jiang Duo’er to watch their surroundings while she entered the space.
She hadn’t looked closely before, but now that she finally had some free time, Yan Huan carefully observed the space.
The space was vast, with a thick layer of white fog spreading far into the distance, seemingly endless.
Although the area was large, there were few buildings, making it seem empty. The only visible things were a house, a pond, and a small plot of land. There was nothing in the pond for the time being, but Yan Huan looked at the water and saw that it was quite clear. She scooped some up and drank it; it was sweet and delicious. Not knowing what effects, it might have; she quickly used the water pouch hanging on her body to fill a pot.
The first floor of the house was already filled with the various sundries she had collected earlier, while the things on the second floor left Yan Huan somewhat puzzled.
There was nothing on the second floor except a computer desk with a computer on it.
Yan Huan walked closer and tried pressing the power button. As soon as her hand touched the button, the computer screen lit up, displaying an unfamiliar icon, followed by a female voice saying, “Congratulations, Master, the system has been successfully activated.”
“Do you want to bind the system?”
Before Yan Huan could answer, it continued directly, “System binding in progress…”
“Three, two, one.”
Damn it, did it even come with forced binding? Before she could retract her hand, she felt a numbness, and a beam of light extended from the computer to her arm.
Yan Huan looked horrified and quickly took a few steps back.
What kind of ghost system was this? She didn’t even know what system it was, so naturally, she couldn’t let some inexplicable thing enter her body.
But the system didn’t stop because of her retreat.
“Congratulations, Master, the system binding is successful.”
Yan Huan almost blurted out a curse. Congratulations my ass, what the hell was this? It didn’t even give her a chance to refuse.
Yan Huan wanted to figure out what the system was, but unfortunately, the thing didn’t make any further movements, as if it had never appeared. Yan Huan didn’t know how to wake it up, and after some probing, she could only give up.
At least nothing unusual had happened to her body yet, so she should put it aside for now. She couldn’t stay in the space for too long; it wouldn’t be good if she happened to run into people entering the forest to find food.
When leaving the space, Yan Huan took out two chicken legs, one for her and one for Duo’er. The two of them quickly devoured them. Jiang Duo’er said somewhat longingly, “It would be great if we had a Coke right now.”
Yan Huan said unhappily, “Alright, alright, whatever you don’t have is what you think about, huh?”
Not to mention Jiang Duo’er, even Yan Huan missed all kinds of junk food from later generations very much, but she could only think about it. Eating it now was like a fantasy.
The two of them left the woods with satisfied expressions. Before leaving, Yan Huan also took out two chickens from the space, and each of them carried one back home.
