Yun Zhen returned home with tea and snacks. She gave most of it to her parents and kept a tin of tea and a portion of the snacks for herself.
The Lan Gui Ren tea had a lingering fragrance and a mild taste, which she really enjoyed.
Thinking that the Lilliputians had simple diets with no variety in drinks, she took a small amount from her tea tin, cut it into small pieces, and placed it in a resealable bag along with some snacks, which she then sent to Pei Hao and his group.
Pei Hao was delighted to see her and, after expressing his gratitude, made a request:
“Divine One, we are setting off tomorrow. Could you please charge the yacht for us?”
“No problem,” Yun Zhen readily agreed.
She initially thought charging the yacht would involve connecting a power cable to a charging port and was concerned that the cable might not be long enough. If necessary, she planned to lift the entire yacht to the mountain peak so that Pei Hao and the others could charge it however they needed.
However, Pei Hao and two other bodyguards together carried out a large silver-gray box from the cabin.
Of course, this “large” box was only large in relation to the Lilliputians. To Yun Zhen, it was just a small, sturdy cube.
“Please place the charging box at the designated sensing spot on the mountain’s charging station. It will automatically charge from there,” Pei Hao explained.
Yun Zhen was puzzled. “Is this the yacht’s battery? It seems too small.”
Such a large yacht couldn’t possibly be powered by such a small box, she thought.
Pei Hao explained, “This isn’t the battery; it’s just a charging device. When placed at the sensor location, it enables the charging station and the yacht to establish a fixed-point connection for wireless power transmission.”
“Wireless charging from a distance? That’s so advanced.”
In her time, they were still using wired electricity, with numerous cables hanging between residential buildings. It was unsightly and inconvenient, often causing issues during storms or when taller vehicles passed by.
Yun Zhen placed the charging box on the designated spot atop the mountain, and before long, Pei Hao informed her that charging had started successfully.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, she asked a few more questions about wireless power. Pei Hao was more than happy to answer.
In the Lilliputian world, wireless power technology was already well-developed. Residents used a similar silver-gray box at home to access electricity. There were no wires to worry about, and they were safe from lightning strikes.
Yun Zhen listened enviously while quickly jotting down notes, intending to use these insights as material for a new book.
Lately, she had developed a habit of asking the Lilliputians about various novel things. Many concepts were beyond her imagination, and having concrete examples made it easier to envision the future.
By around 8 p.m., the yacht had fully charged. Yun Zhen retrieved the charging box and returned it to the Lilliputians, who then began preparing for the next day’s departure.
With the weather forecasting feature now activated, Yun Zhen had little to worry about. The humans inside and outside the bookshelf planned to go to bed early and wake up early, conserving energy for the upcoming journey.
The next morning at 5 a.m., Yun Zhen rose with the first light of dawn. After washing up, she personally prepared two bowls of delicious noodles. Each bowl was packed with meat, eggs, and plenty of vegetables, along with fresh clams and peeled shrimp. The broth was rich and flavorful.
She ate one bowl herself and gave the other to the Lilliputians for breakfast. The group on the yacht was overjoyed, gratefully thanking her with shining eyes.
It had been a month since they last had a warm bowl of soup noodles, and they eagerly slurped it down, barely pausing to blow on it. Once full, they couldn’t help but marvel at how satisfied their stomachs felt.
Yun Zhen also prepared some banana slices for them, to help replenish vitamins and energy. Ocean voyages were tough, so it was crucial to be well-nourished for the work ahead.
With spirits high and stomachs full, the group set off with determination.
The massive yacht sailed out of Yulong Mountain, heading toward the open sea beyond Huacheng. There were 13 people on board, divided into three shifts—5, 4, and 4—to ensure that someone was on duty 24 hours a day.
Pei Hao and Gao Yun were assigned to the morning shift, and they were currently patrolling the deck.
After completing his duties, Gao Yun set up a chair near the railing and cast a line to fish, keeping an eye on the sea ahead.
Pei Hao noticed and walked over to caution him, “You’re fishing already? The nuclear power plant nearby was damaged and leaked. The water is heavily polluted, so the fish here aren’t safe to eat. There’s no point in catching them.”
Gao Yun waved him off mysteriously, “I’m not fishing for fish. You’ll see soon enough.”
Pei Hao was about to ask what he was after when a bodyguard nearby solved the mystery:
“He’s fishing for gold! Those three gold bars we traded for supplies with the Goddess were fished out of the water by him. This guy spent ten days at sea and hauled up half a box of gold and jewels! He even found some food and water, like sealed boxes of instant noodles and bottled water, and even some nutrition packs!”
“Of course, about half of it was damaged and inedible, but the rest we cleaned up and added to our meals. You can only fish for this kind of stuff in the city; once we’re out to sea, it’ll just be regular fish again.”
Pei Hao was surprised but, considering Gao Yun’s incredible luck, it didn’t seem too shocking.
Yun Zhen, however, was completely stunned. She never imagined that someone could be so outrageously fortunate!
While others struggled to survive the apocalypse, he was leisurely fishing up treasure chests and getting rich? This was like a survival MMO with cheat codes!
Even game developers would bow down to this level of luck!
Pei Hao seemed intrigued by the idea and grabbed a fishing rod for himself. He chose a spot farther away from Gao Yun, curious to see what he could catch in the flooded city waters.
The Aurora yacht took about an hour to leave Huacheng and officially enter the open sea.
During that hour, Gao Yun managed to reel in three gold necklaces and a box of chocolate biscuits. The biscuits were in a hard plastic case, perfectly preserved and ready to eat. They were cleaned and shared as a snack.
In the same time, Pei Hao only caught a single shoe, an old jacket, and a palm-sized tilapia.
His poor luck only served to highlight Gao Yun’s golden streak.
Pei Hao refused to give up and decided to try again. A fisherman never admits defeat; even if he has to buy his catch at the market, he won’t go home empty-handed!
Half an hour after entering the open sea, Pei Hao finally felt a tug on his line. Judging by the weight, it seemed to be a big fish, and Pei Hao excitedly prepared to reel it in.
But suddenly, there was a commotion on the deck.
He turned to see everyone looking tense.
“There are some fins moving around in the sea ahead. We’re not sure if they’re sharks or something else. We should observe for a bit, and if it’s dangerous, we’ll change course.”
Just as he was about to reel in his catch, this situation arose, leaving Pei Hao in a dilemma.
He decided it wasn’t worth the risk and opted to release the fish. It wasn’t like he was going to eat it anyway; he was just fishing for fun. He took out a knife, intending to cut the line, but before he could, a voice suddenly spoke up behind him:
“Xiao Hao, that’s not the way to do it. What if the cut line gets caught in the propeller? Let me help you reel it in.”
Startled, Pei Hao turned around to find Jiang Maochuan, who immediately reached for his fishing rod with a strange glint in his eye.
