Chapter 1: Everything Was Taken From Him
“Chu Li! The Martial God Bone belongs to Ming’er. Don’t cause trouble here!”
“You only won by luck in the Bone Competition. That means nothing!”
“The Martial God Bone belongs with Ming’er—that is the Chu family’s fortune. Don’t be ungrateful!”
Inside the great hall, Chu Li stared silently at his family standing together before him.
His heart was filled with despair.
He never imagined this world could be so strange.
Chu Li was a transmigrator. In his previous life, he was a university student. After dying, he found himself transported to this world—one from a novel called Legend of Martial Arts. And he was the protagonist of that story.
In this world, demons ran rampant, and humans fought them through martial arts. Chu Li was born into the Chu family, a Martial God lineage in the Great Xia kingdom. He lost his mother at a young age and was weak and sickly, but his father and three older sisters took great care of him, helping him gradually pursue the martial path.
Perhaps because of his mother’s death and his frailty, his three sisters doted on him excessively, making him the family’s favorite. After inheriting the family’s Martial God Bone, Chu Li’s talent in martial arts fully erupted, becoming unstoppable.
That was how the story was supposed to go—until one person arrived and changed everything.
Six years ago, an adopted son named Chu Ming suddenly appeared in the Chu family. Since then, everything became strange.
Simply put, the family’s favoritism shifted to Chu Ming.
Both father and sisters doted on Chu Ming desperately and completely neglected Chu Li.
On Chu Ming’s birthday, the Chu family sent out many invitations and held a grand banquet, recommending him to important ministers and sects throughout Great Xia.
The three sisters, despite their busy schedules, returned to the Chu family to present him with all sorts of precious gifts.
But on Chu Li’s birthday, no one cared. Neither father nor sisters remembered. He was left alone lighting a few candles in the firewood room to quietly mark the day.
Chu Ming’s cultivation resources were nearly unlimited, all precious-grade herbs and treasures.
Chu Li’s were scarce and poor in quality; if he used more than a little, he would be scolded and reprimanded.
It was as if Chu Ming was the true son of the family, while Chu Li was merely adopted.
Such a strange situation was obviously abnormal to anyone, and Chu Li had spoken to his father and sisters about it. Yet all he got in return were baseless accusations.
“Ming’er is adopted, so what? He’s pure-hearted and sincere. Being around him makes us happy.”
“But you, at such a young age, are already jealous and covetous of your brother’s resources. Truly malicious by nature!”
“Always playing the victim—how could we have a brother like you?”
Facing his father and sisters’ cold stares and groundless blame, Chu Li’s hands and feet turned cold, but he still tried hard to make amends.
Every day, he forced a smile, trying to please them and dared not make any mistakes, hoping they would shift their attention back to him.
But his father and sisters didn’t care; over these years, they increasingly rejected him.
After six long years, Chu Li had become an outcast in his own family, and his heart was slowly breaking apart.
He never expected things would escalate to this extent.
The Martial God Bone was a secret family treasure passed only to Chu clan members. It could fuse with Chu family bloodline—and everyone in the Chu family had one. It was originally meant to belong to Chu Li.
Yet after discussion, his father and sisters decided that Chu Li and Chu Ming would compete for it, with the winner taking the Martial God Bone!
This made no sense at all!
Chu Ming was just an adopted son, with no Chu bloodline—what use would the Martial God Bone be to him?
Meanwhile, Chu Li was naturally weak. Without the bloodline power from the Martial God Bone, he wouldn’t live past five years!
Despite this, the contest proceeded—and to everyone’s surprise, Chu Li won.
Chu Ming, who had consumed countless resources and been taught by numerous masters since childhood, lost. Facing Chu Li’s desperate final strike using his dwindling vitality, Chu Ming only cried and retreated like a complete weakling.
But what Chu Li never expected was that even after winning fairly, he still could not get the Martial God Bone that rightfully belonged to him!
Standing in the great hall, Chu Li’s handsome face was pale as death, looking gravely ill, blood still staining the corner of his mouth.
Yet all his “family” were gathered around the unconscious Chu Ming.
“Is Ming’er hurt anywhere?”
Chu Li’s father, Chu Lingtian, held the hand of a young man, asking anxiously—as if this was truly his own son.
“It was only a competition, yet Chu Li went so far and injured someone!”
Second sister Chu Ruyan’s expression was icy, her gaze dark.
“Hmph, hasn’t he always been like this? Lacking discipline.”
Third sister Chu Xiao’er mocked, then turned to glance at Chu Li standing in the center of the great hall, her eyes filled with disgust.
It was as if it hadn’t been them who suggested this duel in the first place—but Chu Li himself!
Eldest sister Chu Wanling, her hand resting on Chu Ming’s back, had been sitting with her eyes closed, healing him. Now, she finally opened her eyes, and a fierce aura instantly erupted.
She was originally the Chu family’s strongest member, a general of the Great Xia kingdom. The moment her aura fully exploded, Chu Li felt as if someone had punched him in the chest, and he immediately coughed up blood.
“Pfft!”
“Chu Li, do you realize your crime?”
Looking at Chu Li, who staggered back and spat blood, Chu Wanling’s voice echoed coldly from above, filled with murderous severity.
Chu Li raised his head with difficulty, his heart twisting painfully.
Once, it had been eldest sister Chu Wanling who loved him most, personally guiding him through the basics of martial arts.
But now, she had struck him so hard for the sake of an outsider that he vomited blood!
In an instant, all the warmth in his heart completely vanished. Chu Li, body and heart frozen to the core, did not grow angry—but instead laughed.
“Crime? What crime have I committed?”
“Is it a crime to compete at your request? Or a crime to ask for the Martial God Bone that rightfully belongs to me?”
With a cold laugh, the sickly Chu Li wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. His handsome face now carried a fragile, almost morbid beauty.
Yet no one cared about his broken body. From above, second sister Chu Ruyan immediately scolded him harshly upon hearing his words.
“What do you mean, your Martial God Bone? Do you think that just because you won, you get to have it? That belongs to Ah Ming!”
“Father already said the Martial God Bone is Ah Ming’s. Why are you still making trouble?”
—
If you’d like, I can keep translating the next parts too!
As the second daughter of the Chu family, Chu Ruyan was clever and skilled at strategy. At this moment, the way she looked at Chu Li had already turned deeply unfavorable—she clearly now saw him as a threat.
“Hmph, I always said he was wild-hearted and full of jealousy, staring every day at Ah Ming’s resources!”
“You all didn’t believe me before—now look, wasn’t I right?”
Casting a scornful and disgusted glance at Chu Li, third sister Chu Xiao’er added her words.
Eldest sister Chu Wanling heard this, her expression icy cold, and slowly shook her head.
“Chu Li, you have truly disappointed us.”
“A person like you doesn’t deserve to live long.”
“!”
Hearing these words, Chu Li—whose heart was already in deep agony—felt as though something inside him finally broke. His eyes widened in disbelief.
He never imagined that such a vicious curse could actually come from his own family!
In that instant, his mind went dizzy, and heat surged in his chest.
A boundless sorrow rose in his heart. With a muffled sound, he coughed up another mouthful of blood.
But what he didn’t expect was that just then, a sudden voice rang out:
【Ding】
【Host detected】
【System initializing】
【Host, welcome to the Martial God System. This system will wholeheartedly serve you and help you climb to the peak of martial arts.】
【Scanning host’s constitution. Preparing to bind technique… hmm?】
The usual mechanical system voice suddenly paused for a moment, then let out a very human-like exclamation.
【What the heck! What’s going on?】
【Host—where is your Martial God Bone????】
