Chapter 37
Director Weng was frightened by the bloody words all over the room. Looking at this scene for one more time would be a mental pollution. He turned his eyes away and wanted to lock the door of the utility room.
“Wait.” Shi Xi stopped Director Weng.
Director Weng looked at her: “What’s wrong?”
Shi Xi narrowed her eyes: “There are a lot of debris here. The puppet may not have left yet, but is just hiding in a dark corner.”
Director Weng glanced at the dark corner of the utility room and felt creepy: “If this is the case, then I have to block this room!”
“I’ll go in and take a look first,” Shi Xi walked into the utility room and said without looking back: “Director Weng, if you are afraid, you can stand further away.”
“You are a professional, you are really brave.” Director Weng was a little panicked, but he did not retreat. He stood at the door and paid attention to Shi Xi’s actions.
After entering the utility room, the musty smell became stronger. Shi Xi walked in while searching for the puppet.
The sundries were piled together randomly, with thick dust on them. The gaps were like deep eyes. When Shi Xi scanned these tiny dark gaps, she always felt like she was being stared at.
There was silence in the utility room. Shi Xi walked to the innermost part, but still couldn’t find the puppet.
Maybe it really disappeared. When no one noticed it, Shi Xi thought so, and suddenly caught a strange and cold breath, as if it came from behind…
Shi Xi looked back and saw Director Weng standing at the door.
Director Weng asked her nervously: “Did you find anything?”
“Bang!!” The door of the utility room was suddenly locked!
A tooth-grinding “chuckle” sounded behind her. Shi Xi turned around and saw a palm-sized, bloody face!
“Xiao Shi, are you okay?” Director Weng’s anxious voice and the sound of the door lock twisting came from outside the door.
Shi Xi’s eyes adapted to the dim light and saw the object hanging in front of her. It was a hideous puppet with eyes bulging like a frog and a bloody name written on its cheek.
“Something’s wrong, something’s wrong, something’s wrong…” The puppet turned its stiff head, and its movable mouth slowly opened, revealing a weird smile. It stared at Shi Xi’s eyes and hissed, “Something’s going to happen to you.”
“Something bad is definitely going to happen,” Shixi agreed, nodding. “And it’s you who’s in trouble, look back.”
The puppet turned its head and met the sight of two evil spirits floating in the air.
Zhang Qingyu and Teacher Zhuang looked down at the puppet with ferocious expressions.
The puppet turned around to escape, but bumped into Lin Ying’s fan again, and found itself surrounded!
“Xiao Shi!” Director Weng shouted again outside the door, this time he started to knock on the door: “What’s going on inside? Are you not injured?!”
Shi Xi responded: “Director Weng, I’m fine.”
Cowering in fear, the encircled puppet whimpered: “Something’s wrong, something’s wrong, something’s wrong…” Something’s wrong with me! I’m about to get hurt!!
Shi Xi pinched the back of the puppet’s neck and looked at it lazily. She actually smelled a trace of the breath of a living person from it. This puppet is here to seduce souls, and it has already seduce a little of the actor’s soul. If it is seduced by it once or twice again, the actor will probably be dead.
It’s really evil.
Shi Xi curved her lips and said casually: “This puppet looks good. It’s just right to use it to cook for Aunt Li. The earthen stove here is really delicious.”
The puppet stared with round eyes and dared not move.
“You wrote the words on the wall, didn’t you?” Shi Xi poked the puppet: “Who is your master?”
The puppet didn’t move, pretending to be dead.
With another “bang”, the door of the utility room was pushed open by Director Weng, and the cold air that hit him made him shiver.
“Why is it so cold…” Director Weng rubbed the goose bumps on his arms, and when he saw what Shi Xi was holding in her hand, the goose bumps that had just disappeared appeared again.
Director Weng took two steps back and stuttered: “Really, really found it?”
Shixi glanced at the puppet in her hand and said casually, “Got it.”
“Pfft.” Zhang Qingyu chuckled. “That use of ‘got’ is quite clever.”
Director Weng asked Shi Xi fearfully: “What happened inside just now? The door was suddenly locked, and I couldn’t open it no matter how hard I tried. It was like an invisible force firmly controlled the door. I seemed to hear someone say ‘something is going to happen’.”
Shi Xi lifted the puppet: “It’s okay now.”
Director Weng breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the puppet would not move. He looked at the puppet carefully and said, “The expression of this puppet has changed! This morning, its expression was very ferocious and evil, but now it looks a little… a little…”
“A little cowardly, right?” Shi Xi kindly helped him find the right words.
Director Weng nodded: “That’s right.”
Several evil spirits returned to the game, but the puppet still dared not move. The bloody words on the wall of the utility room slowly disappeared.
“These words began to disappear…” Director Weng looked at the puppet with a timid expression, then looked at the words on the wall, and then looked at Shi Xi who looked calm, and suddenly came to a conclusion: “Xiao Shi, the evil spirits retreated as soon as you came. You really calmed the place down!”
Shi Xi: “…”
Shi Xi touched the tip of her nose: “Then Director Weng, take me to see the actor who was possessed by the evil spirit. I will help him calm down the place and let him recover his spirit as soon as possible.”
Since the puppet has been caught, she might as well send the Buddha to the west and put an end to this matter.
“Okay, let’s go check on Xiao Li’s condition.” Director Weng pointed at the puppet hesitantly: “Do you want to take this puppet with you? Xiao Li might be scared when he sees it.”
Shi Xi: “It will probably run away without me to calm it down.”
“…” Director Weng: “You continue to hold it. Thank you for your hard work.”
Director Weng took Shi Xi to the dormitory of the actor who was playing evil. His door was closed and there were no people nearby.
Director Weng knocked on the door: “Xiao Li, I’m the director. I’m here to see you.”
After a while, there were dragging footsteps in the room. When the door opened, Shi Xi saw a dull face.
“Director Weng,” actor Xiao Li slowly turned his head to look at Shi Xi, his eyes rolled around, and he spoke a little bit stutteringly: “Who is this?”
When Director Weng heard the tone of his voice, white sweat broke out on his back – why did Xiao Li behave like a puppet!
Shi Xi had already guessed that this was the case, and there was no surprise on het face.
She picked up the puppet, identified the bloody name on its face, and whispered: “Resurrection.”
When the puppet heard this order, it twisted unwillingly in Shi Xi’s hand, and was reluctant to spit out its soul.
Shi Xi tightened her fingers and said coldly: “I help you?”
The puppet shivered, opened its mouth and spit out a faint soul.
This soul went back into Xiao Li’s body with the wind, and his knees softened and fell to the ground.
“Xiao Li!” Director Weng went over to help him. Xiao Li blinked a few times, and his eyes gradually regained their spirit.
“Director, why are you here?”
Director Weng: “I came to see you. Did you forget that you opened the door for me just now?”
“I can’t remember,” Xiao Li covered his head: “My mind is a little messed up now.”
Director Weng saw that his demeanor was normal and his speech was normal, and looked at Shi Xi in surprise. Was he really “suppressed” by Shi Xi?
Are evil spirits afraid of Shixi’s monk appearance, or are they afraid of her herself?
Director Weng thinks Shi Xi is not as simple as she looks, but he doesn’t care about the truth, because no matter what the truth is, he sincerely believes that inviting Shi Xi here is the right decision.
Director Weng looked at his watch: “Tonight’s filming is scheduled, we have to hurry back to the set, as for this puppet…”
“Just put it in a sack,” Shi Xi lowered her eyes and looked at the puppet: “What color sack do you like?”
The puppet trembled and didn’t want to talk.
Director Weng really found a sack for Shi Xi, pink.
Shi Xi stuffed the puppet into the sack, tied the mouth, drew a talisman, put it back in the utility room, and followed Director Weng to the set.
Director Weng also arranged a role for her as a monk. Unlike Wu Chen, who is both good and evil, this time she will play a compassionate and unfathomable monk.
When putting on makeup, the makeup artist smiled and said to Shi Xi: “Teacher Xiao Shi, we are all relieved after Director Weng invited you.”
Shi Xi blinked innocently: “Because my appearance seems more reassuring?”
The makeup artist smiled even more deeply: “In fact, it’s not all because of the appearance. Many people in the crew have watched your ghost-hunting live broadcast. You make people feel very safe.”
The actors next to her looked at Shi Xi at the same time when they heard the makeup artist’s words.
“Xiao Shi, did Jia Ming really go to Wuyou Temple to learn skills? When will you resume live broadcasting?”
“Xiao Shi, can ‘thinking of wine’ deal with the puppet ghost?”
This tone is indeed an old friend of the ghost-hunting live broadcast room.
Before Shi Xi answered, a harsh voice suddenly appeared next to her: “Tsk, just find an extra in the crew to shave their head and play a monk, it’s strange to invite a woman to play the opposite role and calm the scene.”
This sentence was so malicious that even the makeup artist paused.
Shi Xi glanced sideways and saw that the person who spoke was the third male lead of “Sword Shining Frost”, Duan Jingyi.
Shi Xi had read the script and she was going to play opposite Duan Jingyi tonight.
The actress dressed as a female knight next to her smiled and said clearly: “Does anyone still not know that screenwriter Lin wanted to write a role for Xiao Shi as early as the first time he met her? This role of a high monk is really not something that everyone can play.”
Duan Jingyi blushed when he was refuted in public. He pushed away his chair and stood up: “When we are in front of the camera later, I want to see if this role is only for her or anyone can play it!”
