“The exam is over, stop answering… you may leave after your papers are collected.”

The announcement crackled over the loudspeaker. Lu Zailin, dazed, put down his pen. Finally, it was over.

On the way out, students whispered amongst themselves, discussing the exam questions.

“What did you choose for the last multiple-choice question?”

“A.”

“Oh no, I chose B.”

“Maybe yours is right.”

“Qi Yu, what are you saying? Is that even coherent?”

“Can a top student be wrong? Only we, the less-than-stellar students, are wrong.”

Lu Zailin hurried past, accidentally bumping into Qi Yu’s shoulder.

Before Qi Yu could say “It’s okay,” Lu Zailin was already gone.
