After Losing My Memory, My Sick Husband Tempts Me to Become Addicted Chapter 2

Volume 1 Chapter 2: Blocked

Qin Ya wanted to be discharged, but the hospital insisted she stay for observation for two more days.

Stuck in the hospital, she was bored out of her mind.

From gossip tabloids, she pieced together the first half of her life.

In summary, it was the life of a domineering heiress who took whatever she wanted—companies, business deals, even men.

Lying in bed, she clicked her tongue twice.

*Knock knock.*

Someone rapped twice on the door before immediately pushing it open.

A man in a black suit and glasses—clearly the elite type—walked in.

“Miss Qin, this is from President Shi.”

Qin Ya studied him carefully, racking her brain… but couldn’t place him.

She didn’t need to guess what he was holding.

Not particularly eager to sign, she said coolly, “Just leave it there.”

“Miss Qin, please sign as soon as possible. President Shi is waiting.”

Qin Ya swept her gaze over the assistant, her brow arching slightly.

With slender, jade-like fingers, she plucked the documents from his hands.

Inside, she found the divorce papers already signed by Shi Chengsheng, along with a Share Transfer Agreement.

Qin Ya lifted her eyes lazily. “Are you that eager for us to divorce?”

The assistant remained stiff and formal, as if he truly had no ulterior motives. “You and President Shi never had an emotional foundation to begin with. Divorce would be best for both of you.”

“Oh~ Is that so?”

Qin Ya took the divorce papers from the assistant and, right in front of him, slowly tore them to pieces.

Then tossed them into the trash bin.

Her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled. “Go back and tell your President Shi that I won’t divorce him. He can come see me at the hospital.”

“Miss Qin, must you still be this willful? Your behavior benefits neither President Shi, the company, nor yourself.”

Qin Ya propped her chin on one hand. “If I recall correctly, the company hasn’t changed its name yet, has it?”

The assistant stood firm, unyielding to wealth or threats. “I am President Shi’s man. I will always follow him.”

Qin Ya clapped slowly, deliberately. “Good. How noble.”

She raised a hand and made a call.

The room fell silent, save for the dial tone ringing from her phone.

Outwardly calm, Qin Ya tightened her grip on the phone.

*Pick up, pick up.*

Otherwise, she’d be utterly humiliated.

As the dial tone continued, the assistant guessed exactly who she was calling.

A flash of disdain flickered in his eyes.

“At this hour, President Shi is likely in a meeting. Miss Qin, you’re wasting your time. Besides—”

Before he could finish, the call connected, and Shi Chengsheng’s voice came through—deep, betraying no emotion.

“Hello.”

Qin Ya brightened instantly, her voice sweet and coquettish. “Husband~”

A long silence followed on the other end.

Not wanting to hear anything unpleasant, Qin Ya quickly continued, “Husband, the assistant you sent looks down on me and even insulted me. I don’t like him.”

She stated it boldly, shamelessly tattling right in front of the man.

The assistant panicked. “No, President Shi, I didn’t—”

“Ma Shen, you’re fired.”

Shi Chengsheng’s voice carried through the phone, low and magnetic.

Qin Ya beamed, her voice dripping with honey.

“Thank you, husband~”

Not wanting to say more in front of the assistant, she promptly hung up.

Then, she raised her hand and waved at him. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. And take your trash with you.”

The assistant shot Qin Ya a resentful glare before hastily leaving, making a phone call as he walked.

“President Shi, I really didn’t do anything to Miss Qin.”

“President Shi, please give me another chance.”

Serves him right—unable to recognize reality and too desperate to cling to Shi Jianchuan’s coattails.

Even if she really were to divorce Shi Jianchuan, it wasn’t something an outsider like him had any right to meddle in.

Qin Ya was in a good mood as she flipped through her phone, which held very little content.

She didn’t have many friends or contacts. Her WeChat messages with Shi Jianchuan were sparse, mostly just her asking where he was.

Things like wanting to talk and such.

Shi Jianchuan occasionally replied with a word or two—”Busy.”

Most messages went unanswered.

Combined with the gossip and tabloid news, Qin Ya gradually pieced together her past with Shi Jianchuan.

The Qin family had sponsored Shi Jianchuan, and she had taken a liking to him. After her parents died and she inherited Qin Corporation, she leveraged that debt of gratitude to force him into marriage.

Shi Jianchuan had been unwilling, but she persisted in pestering him. Now, they had finally reached the point of divorce?

Though her intuition told her she wouldn’t be capable of such strong-arm tactics, if the target was Shi Jianchuan…

Standing over six feet tall with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, even his suit couldn’t hide his well-defined muscles. His deep-set eyes, high nose bridge, and that tantalizing little mole on one side—his photos alone were breathtaking.

Seeing him in person had left Qin Ya stunned for several seconds.

Someone so handsome could make her eat two extra bowls of rice. She wasn’t so sure anymore.

With looks like that, wasn’t it only natural for her to have some thoughts?

From their past interactions, Shi Jianchuan didn’t seem to hate her enough to insist on divorce.

At the very least, he still defended her in front of outsiders.

No matter how she looked at it now, this divorce couldn’t happen.

Qin Ya got out of bed and went to the bathroom, examining her reflection in the mirror.

The stunning beauty in the mirror—rosy lips, pearly teeth—moved with her, swaying gracefully, brightening the entire bathroom.

“Hmm, perfect.”

Alright, starting today, she would turn over a new leaf. Whatever strong-arm tactics the old Qin Ya had used had nothing to do with the current Ya-ya!

After some editing, Qin Ya sent Shi Jianchuan a message.

Qin Ya: *Hubby~ Come pick me up at the hospital, okay? I have something to discuss with you—about the company.*

First, lure him here—ahem, no, first *invite* him here. Then they could talk things over.

She sensed Shi Jianchuan was trying to avoid her; otherwise, he wouldn’t have sent his assistant to deal with her.

Done. Sent.

The next second, a glaring red exclamation mark popped up.

*[Message failed to send. Please add the recipient as a friend first.]*

Qin Ya: ???

She might have amnesia, but she wasn’t stupid. She still had basic common sense.

Had Shi Jianchuan… *deleted* her?

Qin Ya immediately found Shi Jianchuan’s number and called.

*”The number you have dialed is currently busy. Please try again later…”*

Three attempts, all with the same automated response.

Flames of fury danced in Qin Ya’s beautiful eyes.

“Fine, just fine!”

Shi Jianchuan was truly *too* good.

Qin Ya changed her clothes, removed the bandage from her forehead—the small wound wasn’t serious, so she covered it with her hair—and quietly slipped out of the hospital.

Hailing a cab, she said, “Take me to Qin Corporation headquarters.”
