After Mistaking His True Love An 80s Commanders Hopeless Pursuit of His Wife Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Rebirth I’ll Go Crazy First

“You’re right, I did run over that old hag on purpose. So what?”

The woman’s hideous, smug face whispered close to her ear, making Jian Sining wish she could strangle her to death. But having just given birth, she was too weak to do anything.

“Oh, right. Your and Brother Shizhou’s baby is so adorable. Don’t worry I’ll take good care of him for you. Just thinking about how your son will call me Mom makes me so happy.”

“Give… me back my child!” Jian Sining’s eyes were bloodshot with rage as she summoned all her strength and grabbed the woman by the neck.

“Brother Shizhou… help…”

A tall, imposing man burst in with a chilling aura, storming into the room. He shoved Jian Sining off the bed and shouted angrily:

“Jian Sining, how long are you going to keep making the same mistakes? If you hadn’t hurt Anya back then, she wouldn’t be infertile! You owe her that child!”

“I didn’t do anything! Huo Shizhou, why… why won’t you believe me?!”

“Because you’re a liar. You can’t be trusted! Reflect on your behavior! For now, I’ll spare you from confinement since you just gave birth…”

Her heart had long since gone numb from pain, but now it was suffocating her. A metallic taste rose in her throat. She coughed up blood, and her consciousness began to fade…

Host, Face-Slapping System 0988 at your service. Original memories successfully transmitted. Now, can you please open your eyes?

In a daze, Jian Sining opened her eyes and saw a glowing serpent floating above her.

Mourning music and the sound of crying filled her ears. She weakly murmured, “Did I die again?”

Host, you’re not dead. Your grandmother is. You passed out from grief and a sleeping drug.

Chaotic memories crashed through her mind.

She had once been a top-tier pop singer in the modern world, but after resisting exploitative industry practices, she fell from a building and ended up in a coma.

The system had found her. If she completed ten system tasks, she could return to her original world. This was her tenth and final task: to strip the self-aware, “evil” female lead in this novel world of her protagonist’s aura.

But she had failed the mission even her child had been taken from her.

Host, this mission failed because the female lead was bound to a “universal charmer” system, and your original memories were wiped, making it extremely difficult. This rebirth is your last chance. To help you succeed, your original memories will remain intact this time.

“She’s got such overpowering protagonist luck that everyone around her defends her unconditionally. How am I supposed to strip her of that?”

By using the face-slapping system to suppress her completely. Every time you succeed in outshining or defeating her, her luck weakens.

“Suppress her? Does physical suppression count?” Jian Sining had trained in martial arts—and even won awards.

Of course it counts! In the last life, right after you passed out, they signed a letter of forgiveness and let the female lead off the hook. You better get up and fight! Start by slapping them all to death!

Jian Sining turned her head to look at her grandmother’s funeral altar, feeling like a chunk of her heart had been ripped out.

In her past life, on the day she was supposed to marry her childhood fiancé, her cousin Anya who was driving without a license ran over her grandmother, gravely injuring her.

Since her parents adopted Anya, the whole family except her grandmother favored Anya. Jian Sining suspected it wasn’t an accident.

She wanted to report Anya to the police, but her family and fiancé were all against it.

Her fiancé even threatened that if she insisted on sending Anya to jail, he would break off their engagement and marry Anya instead.

Her parents also sided with Anya, claiming her grandmother was old and confused, and had walked in front of the car herself. Just a tragic accident.

Jian Sining refused to believe that. Determined to get justice for her grandmother, her fiancé retaliated by swapping brides at their wedding to humiliate her.

When she became the joke of the town, her seriously injured grandmother briefly woke up. The old woman took her hand and said her final wish was to see Jian Sining married.

To fulfill that wish, Jian Sining made a public plea at her ex-fiancé’s wedding: whoever was willing to marry her, they would get a marriage certificate on the spot.

As the guests mocked her mercilessly, Huo Shizhou, her neighbor and childhood friend, stepped forward and proposed to her in front of everyone.

They got their marriage certificate that very same day.

To Jian Sining, the man who saved her from humiliation Huo Shizhou was her redemption. Whether or not there was love, she would forever be grateful to him and was willing to devote her life to him.

That’s exactly what she did in her past life. But it wasn’t until much later that she learned Huo Shizhou’s so-called “redemption” had been a calculated plan from the very beginning.

All he wanted was to become her legal family so he could sign the letter of forgiveness on her behalf for Anya.

If she had a second chance at life, why couldn’t she be reborn before her grandmother’s death?

In her previous life, she fainted from crying at her grandmother’s funeral. When she woke up, her family and Huo Shizhou had already signed the forgiveness letter.

Her grandmother’s death was ruled an accident. Anya, the one who killed her, not only escaped any punishment but continued living a glamorous life.

Jian Sining tried to appeal the case, but the court refused to accept it…

This time, even if she had no concrete proof that it was intentional, she would never let Anya off so easily.

“Make sure the letter of forgiveness for Anya is submitted quickly before Jian Sining causes another scene.”

“Relax. Shizhou gave her sleeping meds. She won’t wake up until at least tomorrow noon.”

Anya spoke with a pitiful, tearful tone:

“Dad, Mom, Brother Shizhou… It was my fault I hit Grandma. If you protect me like this, Ningning will be angry. Maybe I should just go turn myself in?”

You know you’re guilty and you’re not even kneeling?” Jian Sining stormed forward and kicked the pretentious woman hard, knocking her to the ground in front of the altar.

“Ah!” Anya screamed as her head slammed into the rim of the fire basin used for burning spirit money. She knocked it over.

Unburned paper and hot ashes spilled over her head, scorching her as she wailed in pain.

“Jian Sining, how are you awake?” Father Jian looked at her in shock and demanded.

Jian Sining sneered:

“Dad, you’re really Grandma’s good son bringing her murderer here to show off your great fatherly love. When you get killed someday, I’ll learn from you and let it go too!”

“Sining, how can you talk to your father like that?!”
The man in military uniform stood tall, his stern face exuding an oppressive air.

“Isn’t that his own mother lying in that coffin? Haven’t you heard that parents are a child’s first teachers? If I’ve made mistakes, I learned from him.”

In the past, just a slight frown from Huo Shizhou would make her stop no matter how angry she was. But what did that get her? Just his even more shameless favoritism toward Anya.

Mother Jian rushed to help the disheveled and sobbing Anya, then turned and yelled at Jian Sining:

“Are you crazy? We all said Grandma died of old age! Why do you insist on blaming Anya? You’re just mad because she stole our attention over the years! You just want to get rid of her, don’t you? You’re truly vicious!”

“Crazy? Vicious?” Jian Sining let out a laugh filled with fury.

“Fine! Then I’ll show you crazy. I’ll show you vicious!”

She lunged forward, yanked Anya by the hair, and dragged her out of her mother’s arms. Mounting her, she began slapping her left and right.

The musicians playing the funeral flutes were so stunned they froze mid-note. The loud, rhythmic slaps echoed through the hall like thunder, making the once “harmonious” mourning scene far more appropriate.

Huo Shizhou reacted quickly. With a long stride, he moved to pull Jian Sining off, but the moment he touched her shoulder, he recoiled violently as if electrocuted, stumbling a full meter backward.

Hehe Just a light zap. Medium rare.
The system chuckled, its electric tail glowing, and even popped up an emoji.

Father and Mother Jian rushed forward. Mother Jian even tried to kick Jian Sining in the back.

But with a loud zzt, she was zapped her hair stood on end from the shock, and she collapsed straight to the floor.

Minor punishment, medium well.

Jian Sining continued slapping. After a dozen hits, Anya’s face was swollen beyond recognition.

The funeral hall, once filled with fake mourning, now echoed with real sobbing and chaos much more fitting for the occasion.
