After Mistaking His True Love An 80s Commanders Hopeless Pursuit of His Wife Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The system is poisonous and she is sick

“Heavens, She’s gone mad… completely mad! Anya has a heart condition, you vicious little brat are you trying to kill her?!”

“Jian Sining… let your sister go… are you trying to die?!”

Jian Sining grabbed Anya, whose face was beaten into a pig’s head, and threw her onto those biased parents.

“You call me vicious? Do you even deserve to be parents? Your hearts are so biased they’ve fallen into the Mariana Trench. Ever since Anya came to this family, you forced me to give her my clothes and school supplies, my room, my home, even my marriage… So now I’m wrong for letting her die?”

“You… you heartless brat, I’ll beat you to death!” Father Jian raised his hand and slapped toward her face.

“Pa!”

“Zzzzap”

A strong electric current shot from his palm to his head. When Father Jian collapsed, it was even worse than Mother Jian his whole face turned black.

When he opened his mouth, a wisp of black smoke drifted out.

Huo Shizhou immediately ordered a soldier: “Check the wiring now. Is there a short circuit somewhere?”

[Hmph, stupid human now you’re medium rare]

Jian Sining looked at the system that had turned into a flaming snake out of rage and muttered in her heart: “Why do you look even angrier than me? Do snakes even discharge electricity?”

The system gritted its metaphorical teeth:
[Open your eyes and look properly. Yes, it’s the Year of the Snake, but I’m an electric eel!]

Jian Sining looked shocked. “This is the first time I’ve seen a system in electric eel form. Why are you helping me?”

She remembered that the previous system didn’t look like this.

[Hmph, ignorant human! My form is freely changeable. In my past life, I was caught by humans as an electric eel. I was supposed to be sent back, but some nosy woman released me instead.]

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

[Hell no! I’m a freshwater eel, and that clueless idiot tossed me into the ocean. I was struggling in the salty water, and she had the nerve to pray for my blessing!!! So… here I am to bless her]

“That woman… couldn’t be Anya, could it?”

[Who else could it be?! Listen up: if you don’t kill her outright, then torment her until she wishes she were dead.]

Jian Sining sucked in a sharp breath. She felt like this system held even more resentment than she did.

“Commander Huo, there was indeed a broken wire touching the ground…” The soldier returned after fixing the wire and gave his report.

Jian Sining was puzzled and asked the system mentally, “Wait, that wasn’t your doing?”

[It was me! But to avoid suspicion, I tampered with the wiring a little… Aiyaa we’ve been chatting too much, I forgot to explain the system rules to you.]

Jian Sining glanced at the police approaching the mourning hall. “Talk later! Now’s not the time.”

[Fine, I’ll keep it short. The Face-Slapping System inflicts damage on enemies through face-slapping, which includes but isn’t limited to physical attacks. The more savage the slap, the higher the points earned. Every point is worth about 100 yuan in this era. You’ll also get special item rewards.]

Just then, two notification chimes sounded in her mind, followed by a mechanical voice:
[System reward granted. You have earned 10 points. You may redeem items or cash at any time.]

Jian Sining was startled. Did she just earn a thousand yuan from beating up Anya?

It was 1980. A thousand yuan was more than what an average worker made in a year.

“Who called the police?”

“Yes…” Jian Sining had just opened her mouth to admit it when she was cut off by her mother.

“It was us. This crazy girl intentionally hurt someone look at what she did to my daughter!”

Jian Sining met the officer’s gaze and loudly refuted, “I was the one who called the police! The one who got hurt is the real perpetrator. She drove without a license and killed my grandmother and she even drugged me!”

Huo Shizhou, being pointed at, frowned and rebutted coldly, “Stop talking nonsense. I gave you a sleeping aid so you could rest properly. Do you even know how many days you haven’t slept?”

“Hypocrite! You just wanted to help her get away with it, didn’t you?”

“Brother Shizhou, sob sob… what do I do? Ningning still won’t forgive me… I really didn’t mean to, sob…” Anya clung helplessly to Huo Shizhou’s sleeve, eyes teary and full of innocence.

Huo Shizhou’s face turned solemn. He glanced at Jian Sining, pulled her behind him protectively, and stepped forward to explain to the police officer:

“Comrade, it’s all just a misunderstanding. The elderly woman suddenly rushed into the road, and that’s what caused the accident.”

“You’re lying! My grandma came to attend my wedding she would never run into the road. Anya was speeding and driving without a license! Huo Shizhou, do you dare swear on your title that you’re not covering for this disaster of a person?”

Huo Shizhou stared coldly at the woman who had always been gentle and obedient to him. The iciness in her eyes made her seem like a completely different person.

“Ningning, I really didn’t mean to hit Grandma. I’m just too stupid I got nervous and couldn’t tell the gas from the brake. Grandma really did suddenly run out into the street.”

Anya clung to Huo Shizhou’s arm, her body leaning into his close enough that anyone looking would assume they were husband and wife.

“What’s your relationship to the deceased?” the police officer asked. “Let’s take this back to the station and get the full story.”

Aside from the eldest uncle, who stayed to oversee the funeral, everyone else involved was taken to the police station.

While waiting to be questioned, Jian’s mother glared at Jian Sining and snapped, “Are you satisfied now? You just had to drag the whole family into the police station. Do you think this is something to be proud of? You disgraceful brat.”

“If you’re so capable, why don’t you teach your precious daughter not to break the law? Yeah, it is shameful but the ones who should be ashamed are you!” Jian Sining shot back without hesitation.

Anya started sobbing again. “Sob sob… it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have learned to drive… I hurt Grandma and tore our family apart…”

“Then do the right thing and sit in jail quietly. Stop pretending to be innocent and making people sick,” Jian Sining responded sharply.

Anya was so stunned she forgot to cry. She could tell that Jian Sining had changed. In the past, as long as she acted weak and pitiful, Jian Sining would back down.

But today… what happened?

Jian’s mother hugged Anya comfortingly. “Anya, it’s not your fault. Your grandmother was old. We don’t blame you. It’s your sister she’s just trying to make a fuss. She’s jealous of you.”

Hearing her mother’s words, even though Jian Sining had already given up on this so-called “family,” her heart still twisted.

She sneered coldly, “Mom, you treat your own daughter like an enemy and an outsider like your own child. Doesn’t anyone ever tell you how disgusting that is? What would I be jealous of? Being brain-dead and still thinking you’re right?”

“You dare call your mother disgusting? I’ll” Jian’s mother slammed the table and stood up, raising her hand to slap Jian Sining only for it to be her turn to enter the interrogation room.

Only Jian Sining and Anya were left on the bench for the moment. Anya finally stopped her weeping.

She inched closer and whispered in a voice only Jian Sining could hear, “So what if you’re not satisfied? You really think making a scene will get me locked up? I promise you I won’t serve a single day.”

Jian Sining gripped the bench rail tightly, her eyes burning with fury. “So you’re admitting it? You hit Grandma on purpose?”

Anya smirked. “I never said that. Everyone has their fate. Getting hit was hers. Being doted on is mine. You’ll never have what I have. Too bad you’re too useless to hold onto anything.”

“I’ll hold onto your damn!”
