Chapter 26: Helping with Portraits
The little skinny dog was only halfway drawn when Mountain King finished filming.
The big dog happily ran towards them.
Wei Xiaojia immediately dropped his drawing book, hugged the dog’s head, and fed Mountain King the candy he had been carrying.
The two were incredibly affectionate.
Mountain King’s little fans swarmed over, and the bolder children came over and asked, “Can we play with Mountain King with you?”
Wei Xiaojia had never really had any friends. Back in his old home, the people of the old Wei family always ordered the children in the family to unite with other children to isolate Wei Xiaojia.
Even if someone was willing to play with him, the Wei family children would sabotage it, and over time, Wei Xiaojia didn’t want to go out to play anymore.
He either played with Mountain King or stuck to Zhuo Le’s side, a small little thing, sometimes looking quite pitiful.
Suddenly, so many little friends wanted to play with him, and the little guy was a little excited and a little apprehensive.
His doggy eyes looked at Zhuo Le.
Zhuo Le patted his head: “If you want to play, go play, it’s okay, don’t be afraid, Mom and Mountain King are here.”
Wei Xiaojia was happy and nodded to the little friends: “Okay.”
The children cheered happily, and a group of little ones ran off to play.
Zhuo Le put away the drawing book that was sitting on the cold bench again, leisurely blowing the wind and shaking her legs. Days without having to take care of the kid were still very enjoyable.
The afternoon scenes were filmed until seven o’clock. After eating dinner and resting for a while, there was still a night scene to shoot.
The family members Zhuo Le and Wei Xiaojia took a walk after dinner, took a shower, and went to sleep.
The mosquito repellent incense given by Du Xiujuan was quite useful. The smell was not pungent, and the mosquito repellent effect was also excellent.
Zhuo Le lit it in both the men’s and women’s dormitories, so the crew wouldn’t have to suffer from mosquitoes after they came back.
The crew didn’t come back until after eleven o’clock in the middle of the night, and they were all exhausted. They simply washed up and went straight to sleep, and went out to film again at five o’clock in the morning. Mountain King was also with them.
As a dog, he was also conscientious.
Zhuo Le slept drowsily, knowing when they came back and knowing when they went out, sighing that life was not easy, but fortunately her family had a dog.
Wei Xiaojia woke up a little after seven in the morning, just in time for breakfast.
After eating himself, he brought a copy back for Zhuo Le.
Zhuo Le woke up after nine o’clock, washed up, and ate the breakfast that her son brought up, life was beautiful.
After a simple cleanup, she went to visit the set. The mainstay of the family could not be neglected.
The place where the crew was filming today was still lively, but it was basically all children. The adults had to go to the fields and couldn’t watch the excitement every day.
The mother and son had just sat down for a while when the police came, looking for Zhuo Le.
“Hello, comrade, we are the police officers in charge of the Chen Dong case. We have a few questions to ask you, is that convenient?”
“Convenient, please sit down, both of you, ask whatever questions you have.”
The two first asked some of Zhuo Le’s personal basic information to confirm her identity before asking other questions: “The portraits of the Chen family of three, were they all drawn by you, comrade?”
Zhuo Le nodded.
“I wonder if you have ever seen Chen’s child before, I mean the child in your painting.”
“No, I simulated and drew it based on the appearance of Chen Bao and Aunt Ma.”
The two looked at each other, even though they already knew, they still found it a little unbelievable.
“Then have you ever seen Chen Bao before?”
“I have never seen him, this is my first time in Nanshan.”
A person she had never seen before, she could draw him based on the description, it was also a powerful skill.
Afterwards, the two asked some more questions and ended the conversation.
“That Comrade Zhuo, there’s something we’d like to ask for your help with.”
The police station recently had a case where the only witness could provide the suspect’s characteristics, and there were no other clues.
It just so happened that Chen Dong’s incident occurred, and knowing about Zhuo Le, they thought about trying to see if they could find a breakthrough from her.
After hearing the reason, Zhuo Le didn’t hesitate. She was happy to do this kind of good deed, after all, doing good deeds brings good fortune, and with more good fortune, she could lie down and relax.
She wasn’t superstitious, but she had been reborn, and it would be a disservice to her extra life if she wasn’t superstitious.
She also thought that the great adventure that others didn’t have but she did might be related to her working overtime and going out as an anonymous hero in her previous life.
There weren’t many people who persisted in their line of work, and she was considered an elite and a model worker in the industry.
The mother and son followed the police to the police station. From the witness’s description, they spent twenty minutes drawing a person wearing a mask and a hat, only revealing a pair of eyes.
Everyone…
The witness said that the eyes were exactly the same as what he saw, but this didn’t help much in finding the person.
“I’ll try to draw again.” Zhuo Le also scratched her head a bit, staring at the eyes on the drawing paper and pondering for a full minute before putting pen to paper.
After half an hour, she removed the hat and mask, adding and subtracting to create a face out of thin air.
It was a middle-aged man with a square face, thick lips, and a flat nose.
“This…” The police weren’t sure if this person existed in the world: “Comrade Zhuo, what did you base this drawing on?”
Zhuo Le smiled: “The exposed eye shape and brow bone.
The entire face is a whole, and the facial features each have a proportion within this whole. Based on the bone proportion of one part of you, you can calculate the bone proportions of other parts. Adding the muscle and fat thickness of each part, you can restore a face.
But this proportion is just ideal data, and it may change due to various internal and external factors, so the accuracy rate is only about fifty percent.
However, if you take this portrait to find people similar to it, the probability that they are the people you are looking for is very high.”
The police had a basis for saying this: “Okay, thank you for your hard work, Comrade Zhuo, we are very grateful.”
Zhuo Le refused the police comrades’ offer to stay for a meal. The mother and son returned to the small village, just in time for lunch. These days, they were all on the road to eating.
They only filmed for three hours in the afternoon, and this filming trip came to a successful conclusion.
It was still that truck, pulling people and things away together.
“Hey, hey, hey… Mom, that bitch is leaving again, she’s leaving again.” Wei Changfu pointed at Zhuo Le in the truck, chasing wasn’t an option, not chasing wasn’t an option, and he stomped his feet in anger.
Granny Wei stared blankly as the truck disappeared from sight, clutching her chest and breathing heavily. She didn’t even have the strength to scold people.
After being driven out by the railway station security guards, the mother and son climbed through holes and over walls, spending a lot of effort to sneak onto the train that Zhuo Le was on. On the train, they fought wits and courage with the train attendants before finally arriving at Nanshan Station.
Then, they went through all kinds of hardships to get to the small village, and as soon as they entered the village, they saw the truck leaving.
Wouldn’t you be angry?
Granny Wei was so angry that she was dizzy and stumbled, falling on her butt. She simply sat on the ground, looking at Zhuo Le’s departing back, with ten thousand greetings in her heart, her old face trembling.
Wei Changfu was also tired, hungry and tired, and sat down on the ground, feeling the scorching air and the malicious society.
“Cluck, cluck, cluck…”
The old hen, who had just laid an egg, walked past the mother and son proudly, singing proudly. It had laid an egg, had you?
Wei Changfu swallowed: “Mom, I want to eat chicken.”
Granny Wei also swallowed wildly. The mother and son had not eaten for three days since their bags were stolen. They occasionally stole a little, but they couldn’t get enough to eat and were still worried.
They looked at each other…
“Cluck cluck da… Cluck cluck da…”
The old hen let out a sharp scream that seemed to be terrified and mocking, and fled frantically on the village road, with the mother and son chasing behind, their faces ferocious.
“Catch the chicken thief, catch the chicken thief…”
“Damn chicken thief, don’t run if you have the ability, I’ll chop you up.”
The mother and son ran away like stray dogs, holding their heads and scurrying away.
