Chapter 32: Picnic
The children played until five in the afternoon before reluctantly leaving.
The three families lived in three different residential areas. Zhuo Le’s was the worst, a resettlement house, and rented, but of course, no one else knew this.
Xu Duo’s family lived in the next residential area, a commodity house of this era, with a considerable price and location, a small three-bedroom apartment, just enough for a family of three plus an elderly person.
Fan Lianlian’s family lived in the wealthiest residential area nearby, where most of the people were in business and had some assets.
A small high-rise with one apartment per floor, a large flat floor, with good conditions in all aspects, and a part-time worker at home.
However, Zhuo Le’s residential area was closest to the school, an advantage that the little fatty and the little glasses were very envious of.
At the entrance of the residential area, the two people and a dog separated from the others, and then turned to the market opposite.
They were having fish for dinner.
Wei Xiaojia had played too hard during the day. After eating, before he had time to take a walk, he plunged into the quilt and slept soundly.
In the middle of the night, Zhuo Le told Shanda Wang to watch over the child and the house. She changed into convenient clothes and walked the path of her previous life.
Of course, this time it was just an occasional whim, not forced by life, and the mood was completely different.
Silently shuttling through the night, this year hadn’t yet developed to the point where there were surveillance cameras all over the street, making it much easier for her.
Taking the amusement park as the center, she searched within a radius of ten kilometers. Under normal circumstances, the range and den of this kind of team’s activities would not exceed this distance.
However, a radius of ten kilometers was not a simple project.
It was almost dawn when she had only run through one-fifth of the area.
She went home and fell asleep, successfully getting up late.
In the following days, she lived day and night, with Shanda Wang picking up and dropping off Wei Xiaojia from school, and Afu following beside him as a bystander.
Wei Xiaojia, a little cub, was not only not taken care of by his mother to and from school, but he also had to be responsible for buying breakfast for his mother every morning before going to school.
A small one, working hard.
Of course, the little head of the family felt that this was what he should do, without any complaints.
On the fourth night, Zhuo Le finally figured out this gang.
A dozen or so children, the oldest no more than fifteen, the youngest just able to walk, all lived in the bridge hole by the river. On the surface, they were a group of homeless orphans and beggars, but in reality, there were many people watching them, either openly or secretly.
Perhaps it was an old man who was also a beggar, perhaps it was an old woman selling vegetables, or perhaps it was a man dressed as an elite…
They monitored these children in various identities and confiscated the fruits of their labor.
These children had tasks every day, and those who didn’t complete them would be taken away. Some could come back, but some never came back.
The children were very scared and helpless, but they still went out on missions day after day.
Zhuo Le found Wan Shun and handed over her investigation results.
Wan Shun’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed as he read: “Where did this come from? Is it reliable?”
Zhuo Le: “Reliable.”
Wan Shun… What else? Say a few more words at least.
Never mind.
“That area is not under our jurisdiction, but I will report this matter. Rest assured and leave it to me.”
Zhuo Le had nothing to worry about, but she still reminded him: “What I’m giving you should only be considered a part of their entire gang. When taking action, it’s best to investigate the entire industrial chain and wipe them out in one fell swoop.
Also, they are so rampant, it cannot be ruled out that there are protectors.”
Wan Shun straightened his expression: “I know, we will pay attention to these things.
By the way, the police station in Nanshan is asking me for your address, saying that someone has received your favor and wants to thank you in person. Do you want to tell them?”
The first thing Zhuo Le thought of was that the suspect she helped draw was caught, and the victim might want to thank her.
That was really unnecessary.
“No need, it’s just a small matter, I didn’t do much.”
“Alright, come find me if you need anything.”
Zhuo Le finally ended her night life and felt relaxed.
She went home and caught up on a lot of sleep. Out of guilt, she made a big meal for the kid and the dog, and then settled down at home to relax.
Weekend.
“Mom, what’s a picnic?”
“Mom, are picnics fun?”
“Mom, where are we going for a picnic?”
Wei Xiaojia, on his first picnic, was especially excited. He was like a busy little bee early in the morning, assigned by Zhuo Le to pack various things, his little legs moving quickly. He even had time to ask various questions.
Zhuo Le was applying sunscreen and answering casually.
“A picnic is when we grill meat on the mountain, but the meat used to be caught in the mountains by Mountain King. Now the meat is bought and prepared at home.
Son, bring two more kettles of water, bring Mom’s umbrella, and don’t forget the folding chair Mom bought.
Oh, and don’t forget the mosquito repellent, and the matches too.”
Zhuo Le chattered on, and Wei Xiaojia bustled around.
Mountain King watched his exclusive bag get bigger and bigger.
A Fu looked blank, obviously attending such an event for the first time, at a loss.
They set off at eight o’clock, took a taxi, and it took more than two hours to get there.
The place Yan Su chose was really a bit far.
But the scenery was really good, with a babbling stream, green grass, and shady trees.
Many people came here for spring outings, fishing, picnics…
As soon as the two people and two dogs got out of the car, they saw the rich woman director hugging her dog and coaxing it.
Next to her was her beloved car, a fiery red Santana. In the eyes of Zhuo Le, who was from later generations, the appearance was so-so, mainly because the shape wasn’t cool at all. She liked off-road vehicles like Hummers, but in the eyes of people today, it was beautiful.
As a person of the present, Zhuo Le was also jealous. She hadn’t even bought a scrapped car yet, and the rich woman was already driving a luxury car that hadn’t even entered the market yet. It was too much.
Yan Su rolled her eyes when she saw the two people and two dogs: “Don’t you look at the time when you go out? Why didn’t you come at night?
And you, letting the dog pick up and drop off your son from school, you’re really saving trouble.”
Zhuo Le smiled: “Don’t worry, before you get old, I will definitely train Mountain King to be a dog that can pick you up and drop you off, so you don’t have to be afraid when you go in and out of the nursing home in the future.”
Yan Su was so angry that she wanted to turn around and leave. She was just simply proud and not good with words.
Zhuo Le stuffed a bag of food into her hand and took the dog away: “Don’t hold the dog, help carry things for the picnic.”
In Zhuo Le’s opinion, Bao’er was weak and sickly, all spoiled. Other people’s daughters didn’t lift a finger, but her Bao’er’s limbs didn’t touch the earth, and her legs were almost useless.
Yan Su rushed to grab Bao’er. Zhuo Le patted A Fu, and A Fu sensibly picked up Bao’er and ran away.
“Hey, hey, come back, let go of my Bao’er, don’t spread germs to Bao’er, put her down, put her down.”
Yan Su chased a few steps but couldn’t catch up, so she ran back to ask Zhuo Le to stop A Fu.
Zhuo Le smiled: “We’re all going together anyway, why stop.
Everyone says A Fu is not sick anymore, where did the germs come from?
Do you have anything? Bring it with you if you do.” More than half a month had passed, and A Fu had grown a layer of light fur, and the scars had healed and scabbed over. Hair didn’t grow easily where the scabs had been, so although he was still ugly, he had gained a lot of weight.
Yan Su glared at Zhuo Le angrily and said unhappily, “No, if I waited for you, the daylilies would be cold. My people have already taken a place and are preparing.”
Zhuo Le was happy. She was still worried about how to serve the rich woman: “Okay, let’s go.”
Wei Xiaojia carried big bags and small bags, Mountain King carried big bags and small bags, and even Yan Su carried a bag. Only Zhuo Le held an umbrella and strolled forward empty-handed.
The kid and the dog were used to it, but Yan Su…
