Chapter 9: Crowded
Bai Hui understood, it was an English book, all in English, she couldn’t understand the specific meaning.
She was incredibly surprised, “Your child is learning English at such a young age?”
Zhuo Le smiled and shook her head, “He didn’t specifically learn it, it’s just that the child is interested, so I taught him a few sentences.”
Just interested and taught a few sentences? But she saw that Wei Xiaojia was learning quite well, and Zhuo Le was teaching well too, better than those who claimed to be English professionals she had seen.
“Can he understand the meaning of every sentence?”
“He can understand some of it.” In fact, Wei Xiaojia could remember everything he had been taught. He might not understand grammar or phonetics, but he could understand English words, and when he heard the word, he could also know the Chinese meaning and could have simple conversations.
It was no exaggeration to say that he had a talent for it.
In this day and age, there was no mobile phone entertainment, so she could only read books to pass the time.
Wei Xiaojia had been reading books with her since he was in her womb. Now, he had been reading for five years, and he could basically remember everything he had learned with her. Compared to his slacker dad, he saved her so much worry.
In the beginning, in order to make Wei Tianxia’s career smoother and farther, she forced Wei Tianxia to study and get a diploma. Wei Tianxia’s brain gave her lingering fears even now, and at the time she really wished she could do it herself.
Bai Hui was incredibly envious. Although Ruan Mianmian couldn’t be considered a slacker, she wasn’t a top student either. At five years old, she had also been exposed to some books, but the child wasn’t interested at all.
This old mother, who was wholeheartedly planning for her child, began to ask Zhuo Le for advice.
Zhuo Le had no experience, so she could only share the parenting experiences she had heard in later generations.
The two little ones also skipped the question of why you understand and I don’t, and Ruan Mianmian followed Wei Xiaojia to read the book word by word.
She slurred her words, but it didn’t affect her enthusiasm, and Bai Hui was quite happy.
There were only four people and a dog in the car, and the few of them randomly chose bunks to sleep in at night.
With Mountain King guarding the night, there was no need to worry about anything happening while they were asleep.
In the morning, Zhuo Le sent Wei Xiaojia to get water and buy breakfast. Ruan Mianmian wanted to go with him, and Bai Hui, worried, went with them.
Mountain King was still guarding Wei Xiaojia, its huge body both majestic and frightening.
There were many kinds of breakfast available on the train, including steamed buns, fried dough sticks, soybean milk, porridge, and small pickles, as well as boiled eggs.
Wei Xiaojia was short and couldn’t reach the window, so he sat on Mountain King’s back and bought things with clear articulation, buying three of everything.
Bai Hui was worried that the little guy would buy too much and wouldn’t be able to finish it, and it would spoil, so she advised him to buy less.
Wei Xiaojia patted the dog’s head, “We have Mountain King, we can finish it.”
Bai Hui met Mountain King’s deep eyes and smiled awkwardly.
The three and a dog returned to the car, and Zhuo Le had just finished washing up and returned.
“My son is too amazing, what good food did you buy?”
Wei Xiaojia was always especially happy when his mother praised him, “Mommy, there are steamed buns, fried dough sticks, porridge, small pickles, and boiled eggs. The steamed buns are Mommy’s favorite pickled mustard greens filling, it’s so fragrant.”
Zhuo Le sniffed, “It really is, what my son buys is fragrant.”
Wei Xiaojia was so praised that he could hardly tell east from west, “Mommy, eat quickly, eat the steamed buns first, drink the milk, and then I’ll soak half a fried dough stick for Mommy.”
The warm little boy was attentive and thoughtful, and even peeled the eggshell, ate the yolk himself, and fed the egg white to Zhuo Le’s mouth. He was so happy to see his mother eat it.
Bai Hui, who was serving her little daughter to eat, was silent, should she have another son to serve her?
“Mommy, egg.” Ruan Mianmian opened her little mouth, waiting to be fed.
Bai Hui sighed, forget it, what if it was another little tyrant, she wouldn’t be able to serve them.
After the mother and son finished eating, they fed the rest to Mountain King. Mountain King had a big appetite, and this wasn’t enough, so they fed it the steamed buns they bought yesterday, with canned meat in them.
Bai Hui watched Mountain King eat a fist-sized meat-filled steamed bun in one bite and swallowed her saliva, “This dog has a really big appetite, ordinary people can’t afford to raise it at all.”
Zhuo Le, full, leaned aside to digest, and feeding Mountain King was Wei Xiaojia’s job.
Hearing this, she smiled and said, “Our home is at the foot of the mountain, and Mountain King will go up the mountain to hunt for food himself, so we don’t have to worry.
It’s inconvenient for it to follow us out, so it’s wronged.”
Bai Hui was incredibly envious, “Not only do you raise your children well, but you also raise your dogs well, how do you do it?”
Zhuo Le smiled, this experience couldn’t be passed on.
Mountain King ate ten meat-filled steamed buns and drank half a basin of mixed milk powder before it was full. It shook its fur and lay down on the spot.
Bai Hui clicked her tongue. It was one thing for a dog to eat meat, but it also drank milk powder. No wonder it grew so big. Ordinary people, not to mention whether they could afford to raise it, first had to see if they were willing to raise it.
At ten o’clock in the morning, the train stopped at a small station, and a large group of people poured into the car, clamoring and looking for berths.
“Oh my, Mother, there’s such a big dog here, be careful, don’t push, don’t push.”
“I told you not to push, you deserve to be bitten.”
“Who’s so immoral, bringing such a big dog on the train.”
“Stop talking, hurry up and move, it’s blocked behind.”
…
Mountain King’s upper body was lying on the lower bunk bed, held by Wei Xiaojia, to prevent those people from shouting that Mountain King was hurting people.
Someone found their seat and was pushing and shoving in the narrow aisle to put their luggage, cursing and shouting about being squeezed, and greeting their ancestors for eighteen generations.
Someone accidentally stepped on Mountain King’s foot without knowing it.
Fortunately, Mountain King was smart and obedient, otherwise it would have bitten these people.
It moved its big feet away, shrunk itself smaller, and also tucked in its tail. Its tail was also stepped on a few times.
Bai Hui was in the middle bunk. Ruan Mianmian, like Wei Xiaojia, didn’t have her own berth. When there was no one, she could sleep anywhere, but when there were people, she could only stay close to her mother.
The moment the crowd poured in, Bai Hui protected Ruan Mianmian in her arms and lay in the middle bunk.
The train stopped for half an hour, and the commotion lasted for twenty minutes. Their car was filled with adults and children, men and women, old and young, noisy and chaotic, no better than a vegetable market.
There were always people walking back and forth, going up and down, and Mountain King could no longer lie in the aisle.
The mother and son plus a dog were huddled in the lower bunk, looking pitiful and helpless.
Bai Hui cast a sympathetic glance at them, but she was also unable to help herself and was powerless.
The old lady on the opposite lower bunk was cracking sunflower seeds and spitting out the shells everywhere.
“Is this dog yours? How did it get on? You didn’t sneak it on, did you? That won’t do, you can’t afford to pay if it bites someone. Hurry up and get it off, or find the staff to get a separate place.”
Zhuo Le leaned against the quilt, dozing off.
Wei Xiaojia had a serious face, patted off the sunflower seed shells on Mountain King, and was unwilling to respond.
The old lady didn’t care and babbled to herself for a long time, stopping only when her mouth was dry.
She drank some water and then started talking to the people on the upper bunk above Zhuo Le and them.
Not satisfied with talking, she ran outside and talked to the people next door.
The entire car was filled with the old lady’s豪邁 voice, she alone could抵 ten people.
She hadn’t stopped since getting on the train.
When night fell, she stopped talking, but her snoring was louder than thunder.
It echoed with the snoring of others, rising and falling.
Zhuo Le’s forehead veins throbbed. In the future, she would buy a soft sleeper, or drive herself.
Wei Xiaojia was lying in Zhuo Le’s arms, sleeping soundly, Zhuo Le was envious.
The little guy, like his dad, had a first-class sleep quality.
