Chapter 27: Gu Si is Angry and Jealous!
Truth or Dare: Who is Your Favorite in the Room?
Gu Si glared at the chair on the ground with visible displeasure. Without sparing the group a glance, it was clear his annoyance wasn’t caused by their chatter. He simply seemed irritated by the chair itself.
Xu Ruanruan and Sheng Mingzhu, both aspiring to survive in the entertainment industry, quickly quieted down in deference to the future mogul of the scene. They stopped talking at once.
Seeing the silence, Gu Si stepped on the tilted chair leg with precision. With a light press, the chair, once skewed, was instantly set upright.
However, Ning Qingyan remained silent throughout, not questioning why Gu Si kicked the chair. She continued eating, leaving Gu Si to vent his anger on the poor chair.
And so, the others watched as the chair tilted and righted repeatedly under Gu Si’s foot, creaking as it moved. Meanwhile, the hearts of the female guests also leaped in rhythm with the sound.
A plain chair, under Gu Si’s frustrated motions, managed to perform a dramatic “dance.”
On the other side, Ning Qingyan finally finished her meal. She took a tissue handed to her by Wen Shijin, thanking him as she wiped her mouth, clutching a bottle of milk he had thoughtfully opened for her.
“Cough, cough! Thanks, bro. The way you take care of me makes me feel like a total freeloader,” she teased with a shy smile, her beautiful peach-blossom eyes curving into crescents.
Her sunny grin reflected in Wen Shijin’s clear black-and-white pupils made him pause briefly before his usual calm demeanor returned. He gently reminded her, “If you eat so much, you should walk around to aid digestion; otherwise, your stomach might feel uncomfortable later.”
“Got it, bro!” Ning Qingyan replied cheerfully, taking a sip of milk.
Then, she turned to Gu Si, who had finally stopped tormenting the chair. Despite his displeased expression, his gaze was glued to the chair, lips pressed tightly together.
Walking up to him, she adjusted the chair and asked, “Are you okay?”
Gu Si turned his head away without responding, his chin lifted in an aloof manner. Yet, his hand gripped the chair handle tightly.
Ning Qingyan blinked and gently advised, “Even if we didn’t end up as a team, you shouldn’t lose your cool over it. There are plenty of fish in the sea; why fixate on just one?”
Gu Si: … He really wanted to yell at her!
But he had sworn he wouldn’t speak to Ning Qingyan today, even if it killed him!
Seeing his silence, Ning Qingyan became more playful and added with a grin, “Why let one tree stop you from appreciating the whole forest? That’s something you taught me, isn’t it? Still, I can understand your despair since I’m so outstanding, and you missed the chance to team up with me.”
Gu Si, gritting his teeth, retorted, “Ning Qingyan, are you getting bolder? Don’t think I teamed up with you because of any special feelings. It’s only because you can cook!”
“Got it, got it,” Ning Qingyan replied with a knowing smile, as though humoring a child.
Gu Si glanced at her and muttered with an odd mix of grievance and indignation, “Who’s the chicken here?”
Ning Qingyan chuckled and pointed at herself.
Seeing her silly demeanor, most of Gu Si’s anger inexplicably dissipated, though his face still burned from earlier embarrassment. After all, hadn’t he just sworn not to talk to her?
Although he clammed up again, the atmosphere between them eased significantly.
After the meal, the group followed a drone’s instructions to board a sightseeing car back to the villa.
Once there, the director’s voice crackled in their earpieces, “After a tiring and energy-consuming morning, let’s relax with a lighthearted game.”
In the living room, a large round table awaited, and the guests took their seats as directed.
On the table sat a bottle, signaling a game of Truth or Dare.
The director announced:
“For our royal couple to go the distance, they must get to know each other deeply. What better way than to hear their truths—or perhaps uncover some secrets?”
“The rules are simple: whoever the bottle points to must choose between Truth or Dare. The options will be determined by live viewers’ votes, with the highest-voted choice taking precedence.”
“Gu Si, spin the bottle for us to start the game!”
With a glance at Ning Qingyan, Gu Si smirked confidently and spun the bottle. It whirled rapidly under his hand, eventually pointing straight at Ning Qingyan.
“Me?” Ning Qingyan blinked, her gaze shifting to Gu Si, who looked smug.
“Can you control the bottle’s direction? That’s amazing!” she exclaimed, full of admiration.
Enjoying the praise, Gu Si smirked. “Of course. When have I ever not been impressive—”
Before he could finish, Ning Qingyan raised her hand like a schoolkid and ratted him out to the director: “Director, Gu Si can control the bottle! That’s unfair! I request to spin it myself for the sake of fairness. I’m terrible at it, and I’ll prove it!”
Gu Si: …?!
The director agreed, laughing. “Fine, Ning Qingyan, you may spin. Gu Si, don’t do that again.”
Gu Si: …??
As Ning Qingyan gleefully spun the bottle, she put all her strength into it, making it spin faster than Gu Si’s attempt.
The bottle finally stopped—pointing directly at her.
“… O_o?” Ning Qingyan froze.
Gu Si, meanwhile, burst into unrestrained laughter.
The others chuckled as well, and even Wen Shijin smiled kindly. “At least you’ve proven you really can’t control it.”
Live comments flooded the broadcast:
When prompted to choose between Truth or Dare, Ning Qingyan wisely picked Truth, wary of the audience’s wild ideas.
The director revealed the highest-voted question:
“Who is your favorite among the guests present?”
Instantly, all eyes turned to Ning Qingyan.
