The man, already exuding a naturally cold and elegant demeanor, spoke words completely at odds with his temperament. It was as if an untouchable, high mountain flower had been defiled by her presence, tainting him with the mortal world—enticing yet reserved, irresistibly alluring.
Ning Qingyan stared blankly at him, her mind shocked as if struck by lightning. The numb stiffness in her body instantly gave way to a rush of adrenaline. Suddenly, she went from being supported to supporting Huo Qifei, as they both darted away from the swirling vortex at lightning speed.
Her only thought was to escape this awkward atmosphere as quickly as possible.

Finally, Huo Qi and Ning Qingyan managed to escape the vortex.
Huo Qi held onto Ning Qingyan’s slender waist tightly, his heartbeat quickening. He was convinced it was his earlier words of promise that spurred Ning Qingyan on, allowing him to summon superhuman strength despite near exhaustion and drag them both out of the whirlpool.
Who would have thought that this young man… loved him so much!
Green Tea System: “Huo Qi’s favorability +10.”
Ning Qingyan: ???
Having just experienced a burst of energy akin to a final flare, Ning Qingyan quickly wilted again. Luckily, Huo Qi was still supporting him, and rescue personnel soon arrived. They placed life rings on both of them and dragged them swiftly toward the shore.
Ning Qingyan comfortably slumped over the life ring. The summer air was hot, and as long as one wasn’t submerged in seawater for too long, it wasn’t too cold.
Both their earpieces had fallen into the sea—Ning Qingyan’s when she jumped in to save Lin Qingqing and Huo Qi’s when the giant wave nearly swept him into the vortex.
Otherwise, someone as meticulous as Huo Qi would never have uttered such words directly to her.
As this thought crossed her mind, Ning Qingyan glanced at Huo Qi ahead. Noticing her gaze, Huo Qi looked back. Their eyes met, his eyelashes fluttered, and the tips of his ears turned red again.
Startled, Ning Qingyan quickly averted her gaze. Then she saw Gu Si not far away, struggling to swim in a dog-paddle style at an embarrassingly slow speed.
Her eyes widened at the sight. Was his speed… slower than an actual dog?
Didn’t the system’s data say Gu Si couldn’t swim? Why did he jump in? She had already gone there and back, but he was only halfway.
Their eyes met. Pointing at Gu Si’s swimming, Ning Qingyan stifled her laughter so hard her face turned red.
Gu Si’s face darkened further as he growled through gritted teeth, “Ning. Qing. Yan.”
Unable to hold it in any longer, Ning Qingyan burst out laughing.
The next second, Gu Si scooped up seawater with his hands and splashed it at her, causing her to swallow a mouthful of seawater. She coughed violently, nearly choking.
“I came to save you out of goodwill, and you laugh at me? Serves you right if you choke!”
His splash made him lose balance, and he flailed wildly in the water. Rescue personnel couldn’t bear to watch any longer and handed him a life ring.
Once he was back to full strength, Gu Si retaliated by splashing more water at Ning Qingyan.
Ning Qingyan wasn’t one to be bullied without fighting back. Soon, the two were engaged in a full-blown water fight like grade school kids. Though she’d rested a bit and regained some energy, she was still no match for Gu Si and ended up drenched.

Meanwhile, Wen Shijin, who had been swept away by waves while holding the unconscious Lin Qingqing, managed to drag himself and her ashore. Handing her over to medics, he immediately jumped back into the water toward Ning Qingyan.
Seeing her lively water fight with Gu Si, Wen Shijin finally let out a breath of relief. Swimming over, he blocked a large splash of water meant for Ning Qingyan.
Gently, he wiped the water off her face and smoothed back her wet bangs.
Feeling much better, Ning Qingyan smiled at him and called softly, “Brother.”
Green Tea System: “Wen Shijin’s favorability +1.”
“It’s summer, but the seawater is still cold. Don’t play in the water again,” he said sternly, though his gentle tone made Ning Qingyan’s ears tingle.
She coughed lightly and defended herself, “He splashed me first. What was I supposed to do, let him bully me? I’d rather lose a thousand than let him have the satisfaction!”
Wen Shijin smiled subtly at her stubbornness and led her ashore.
Gu Si shouted after them, “Don’t play the victim! You laughed at me first!”
Ignoring him, Wen Shijin covered Ning Qingyan with a white blanket, shielding her soaked figure from view.
Ning Qingyan clutched the blanket, grateful, and let the medics take her for a checkup.
As she returned, Lin Qingqing anxiously handed her a cup of hot water. Nearby, Qiao Li remarked jealously, “You sure have a lot of fairy sisters, don’t you?”
Caught mid-sip, Ning Qingyan froze. The comments exploded with laughter:
