Chapter 15: Expelling Tang Xiao
Meanwhile, in the principal’s office…
The phone on Principal Wei Changhe’s desk rang.
“Hello, Security Office? Someone’s looking for me? Claiming to be Tang Xiao’s guardian?”
Wei Changhe immediately stood up. “Quick, let them in!”
He was excited—Tang Xiao’s guardian had come to school.
Although Wei Changhe had no idea why Tang Xiao’s guardian was here, he knew one thing for sure: he couldn’t afford to slight the family of a provincial top scorer.
Before long, a tall woman wearing sunglasses walked in.
It was Tang Jie.
Tang Jie removed her sunglasses and glanced around the room. So this is Tang Xiao’s school? Just look at it—old and shabby.
Wei Changhe’s gaze lingered on Tang Jie’s attire for a moment, his expression tinged with doubt.
Is this Tang Xiao’s older sister?
Her appearance and clothing screamed wealth and privilege, a far cry from the plain and humble impression he had of Tang Xiao.
Tang Jie’s voice carried an air of haughtiness. “Are you Tang Xiao’s principal?”
Wei Changhe frowned slightly at her tone. Though a little displeased, he maintained his enthusiasm. “Yes, that’s me. Welcome, please have a seat. Let me make you some tea.”
Tang Jie walked in gracefully and took a seat, exuding confidence.
Wei Changhe dared not delay. He even brought out his prized tea leaves to brew her a cup.
As he prepared the tea, he asked, “May I ask, what is your relationship to Tang Xiao?”
Tang Jie responded elegantly, “I’m his older sister.”
“I figured as much. Your family carries such a remarkable air about them,” Wei Changhe complimented smoothly.
“Heh, thank you,” Tang Jie replied, smoothing her hair.
The principal’s hospitality put Tang Jie in a good mood. She even wondered if he had recognized her. This is a principal for you—far more worldly than those doctors.
As a celebrity accustomed to constant flattery, Tang Jie naturally assumed the warmth was directed at her.
Little did she know, the principal’s courtesy was entirely for Tang Xiao’s sake.
Tang Jie looked directly at Wei Changhe. “Principal, may I make a suggestion?”
Wei Changhe chuckled. “Of course, feel free to speak.”
“I suggest you expel Tang Xiao,” Tang Jie stated coldly.
Her purpose for coming here was precisely this. Tang Xiao’s behavior over the past few days had infuriated her to no end. She couldn’t swallow her anger and had decided to come to his school to have him expelled.
Tang Jie, confident in her composure, finished speaking and reached out for the cup of tea the principal had brewed.
But to her surprise, Wei Changhe was faster. He grabbed the cup before her and downed it in one gulp, completely ignoring her.
The warmth he had shown earlier vanished in an instant, replaced by indifference.
His sudden shift in demeanor left Tang Jie stunned.
Wei Changhe couldn’t care less. So she came here to cause trouble? Why should I be polite? And why waste good tea?
He spat the tea leaves back into the cup and asked, “May I know your reason for this suggestion?”
Tang Jie, taken aback by his rudeness, felt uncomfortable but pressed on angrily.
“Tang Xiao is a scoundrel! He steals, he abuses my younger brother, and he even fought with my father! A few days ago, he ran away from home and hasn’t returned since.”
She began listing Tang Xiao’s supposed crimes one by one.
Wei Changhe was astonished.
Tang Xiao, this terrible? Stealing, domestic violence, running away from home? Such awful behavior?
But something didn’t add up. How could someone so terrible still be a provincial top scorer?
Sure, academic excellence doesn’t guarantee moral integrity, but Tang Xiao didn’t seem like that kind of person.
Wei Changhe decided to dig deeper. “That’s indeed concerning. So, what did the police say?”
“This…” Tang Jie froze.
She didn’t know what the police had said because she hadn’t contacted them.
Wei Changhe, seeing the expression on Tang Jie’s face, suspected that something might be off. “So, all of this is just your word? No evidence?”
Tang Jie slammed her hand on the desk in anger. “What evidence do you need? He lives in my house! How could I not know what he’s like?”
“Sorry, but without a police verdict, we can’t just expel a student based on your word alone,” Wei Changhe said calmly.
Tang Jie grew even more agitated and began cursing.
“What evidence do you need to expel a scoundrel? Do you know who I am?
Do you think I’d just make things up? What kind of broken school is this, protecting scum like him—no wonder it’s so shabby…”
“Enough!”
Wei Changhe, trying to suppress his anger, snapped, “Ms. Tang! I don’t care who you are. Tang Xiao is my student, and I’m responsible for him! Without evidence, you can’t just call him a scoundrel.”
Tang Jie pointed at Wei Changhe, furious. “How dare you speak to me like that? Do you know who I am?
Do you know the power of the Tang family? If my family gets involved, let’s see if you can still be the principal!”
Wei Changhe was infuriated. “The Tang family? You’re the daughter of Tang Rushan! And what of him?
Even if he came here himself, I wouldn’t expel Tang Xiao. That’s my stance!”
Tang Jie froze, stunned by the sudden outburst from Wei Changhe.
But she still tried to hold her ground. “Do you know my father? If you know who he is, how dare you shout at me…”
“Your father is nothing,” Wei Changhe said, no longer holding back any politeness.
After being the principal for so many years, he’d never encountered anyone who dared to threaten him like this.
Forget about Tang Xiao being a provincial top scorer.
Even if Tang Xiao were just an ordinary student, there was no way he would expel a student for no reason.
“You!” Tang Jie’s face darkened.
The Tang family was well-known and respected in Jiang’an. Anyone who dared disrespect them, especially hearing Tang Rushan’s name, would usually show the utmost respect.
She had never encountered anyone as arrogant as Wei Changhe.
“How dare you insult my father! Your name is Wei Changhe, right? I’ll remember you…” Tang Jie muttered, fuming.
“I’m your elder, and this is the kind of family education the Tang family has? No manners!”
“You!” Tang Jie slammed everything on the desk in anger.
Wei Changhe walked out of the office and waved to the security guards. “Security, get this person out!”
Wei Changhe wasn’t someone to tolerate such troublemakers, especially when they came with an attitude.
When the principal orders it, the security guards are even more serious.
A few tall security guards barged into the office, grabbed Tang Jie by the arms, and physically escorted her out.
One of the guards even used a steel fork to pin her neck, seemingly preventing her from biting anyone.
The scene was rather comical.
Many students and teachers witnessed the spectacle.
“No way! Is that Tang Jie, the celebrity?”
“Impossible, why would Tang Jie come to our school?”
“It really is her! I just watched one of her online dramas the other day.”
“Who’s Tang Jie?”
“She’s a small celebrity, has some fame…”
This was not a hospital, and the students here were young. They were more aware of celebrities and recognized her instantly.
Some students who recognized Tang Jie started sharing her name so others would know her too, making it easier to gossip.
“Why is she being dragged out? The security guard’s moves crack me up. I remember last time they grabbed a stray dog, they did the same thing.”
“Quick, take pictures! Film videos and post them online!”
The students from the second high school all pulled out their phones to take pictures and videos.
Tang Jie was utterly humiliated, even more so than the time she was embarrassed at the hospital.
As a small celebrity who thrived on attention, she was used to being adored by others. But now, in this situation, she wished no one would recognize her.
“Let go of me! You bold people!” Tang Jie struggled, twisting her body in a panic. “Don’t you dare film me! Call my assistant!”
But sadly, her assistant wasn’t around to help her.
Tang Xiao! I’ll hate you for the rest of my life!
Her face turned pale with fury as she never expected to be humiliated twice in a row.
Twice she tried to make trouble for Tang Xiao, and twice she was forcibly removed.
In Class 7, Liu Zihao called Tang Xiao to the window and pointed at Tang Jie.
“Tang Xiao, that’s Tang Jie, the celebrity. You both share the last name Tang, you don’t know her, do you?”
“I don’t know her,” Tang Xiao denied.
Tang Xiao frowned. How much more of this nonsense will there be? First the third, now the second.
Liu Zihao sighed in relief. “I thought so, if you knew Tang Jie, that would be really disappointing.”
Tang Xiao didn’t respond to Liu Zihao’s comment.
He was already thinking about what to do after school: return the money and finally put an end to this.
He hoped the Tang family would stop bothering him after today.
