Chapter 8 of Default I sever ties with the Tang family!
In the corner of Tang Xiao’s room, they saw a painting.
Sister Li pointed at the painting: “That painting is the gift Young Master Xiao prepared for Young Master Zijian.”
The painting was not large and depicted a family portrait done in watercolor.
The craftsmanship was average, but it was very heartfelt.
It was clear who was who in the painting; it depicted Tang Rushan and his wife, the four sisters, as well as Tang Zijian and Tang Xiao himself.
Tang Xiao was short on money, and this painting was the best he could do.
But Tang Jie and Tang Yuan remained unappreciative: “This little ingrate is so pretentious…”
Neither of them noticed Tang Xin’s change.
Tang Xin looked at the painting and then at the book.
Her nose felt sour, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She murmured to herself.
“So we are so important in Tang Xiao’s heart!”
“Tang Xiao is someone who cares for books; the books in the study weren’t damaged by him!”
The truth in Tang Xin’s heart was completely overturned!
“Tang Xiao is a good kid, a younger brother who loves me deeply!”
Although Tang Jie and Tang Yuan felt complicated emotions, they were not as deeply affected as Tang Xin.
Tang Xin ran out of the room frantically, not caring that her hair was a mess.
“Hey! Tang Xin!” Tang Jie and Tang Yuan followed her out.
In the villa’s corridor.
They bumped into Tang Rushan and his wife, along with Tang Zijian.
Tang Xin’s hair was disheveled, and her eyes were red.
She grabbed Tang Zijian’s shoulder and questioned him.
“Zijian! Sister believes you. Tell me, did Tang Xiao really break Dad’s books?”
Tang Zijian, initially full of confidence, was immediately frightened by Tang Xin’s words and broke into a cold sweat.
Damn it, have I been found out?
He forced a naive smile.
“Sister… do you doubt me?”
“Tang Xin! Don’t you believe Zijian? Are you crazy?” Tang Yuan blamed Tang Xin.
“Tang Xin, don’t scare Zijian.”
The whole family blamed Tang Xin.
“No… I don’t doubt Zijian. I just think this matter is a bit strange.” Tang Xin felt very sad.
“Tang Xin! As a sister, don’t act recklessly!” Tang Rushan said sternly.
Tang Xin grabbed Tang Rushan’s shoulder and pleaded, “Dad, we might have misunderstood Tang Xiao. Let him come back.”
Zhang Ping, as the mother, softened her stance as well: “Rushan, Tang Xin is right. After all, today is Zijian’s birthday; just make a call to let Tang Xiao come back.”
“Yeah, Dad, let Brother come back.” Although Tang Zijian was unwilling, he pretended to be understanding.
Tang Yuan and Tang Jie were a bit stunned; they hadn’t thought it through yet.
“Tang Xin! Don’t act recklessly!”
Tang Rushan was still angry with Tang Xiao; how could he voluntarily let Tang Xiao come back?
Unless, Tang Xiao could lower his head like before.
Only then could he reluctantly consider forgiving Tang Xiao.
At that moment, Tang Rushan’s phone rang.
Caller ID: Tang Xiao.
Tang Rushan could hardly suppress a smile, feeling secretly pleased.
I knew this kid would back down!
He ultimately couldn’t bear to part with the good life of the Tang family!
Tang Xin’s eyes lit up: “It’s Tang Xiao! Dad, quickly answer the phone and let Tang Xiao come home.”
“Rushan, put it on speaker; I want to say a few words to Tang Xiao,” Zhang Ping said.
Tang Rushan cleared his throat, trying to sound authoritative, and answered the call.
“Hmph, you still remember to call.”
“Hehe, of course.”
Zhang Ping softened and said, ” Tang Xiao, today is your brother’s birthday. You should come back to celebrate Zijian’s birthday.”
Tang Xiao couldn’t help but laugh on the other end of the line.
“Hahaha, Mom, did you forget that today is also my birthday?”
With that one sentence, everyone fell silent.
Silence, a dead silence.
Yes! Today is also Tang Xiao’s birthday.
They had all forgotten.
This was somewhat awkward.
This also indicated that they really hadn’t considered Tang Xiao as family before.
Zhang Ping hurriedly said, “Tang Xiao, I… we haven’t forgotten. Just come over first.”
“Forget it, I’m not interested.”
Tang Xiao’s voice became cold and distant.
He didn’t care.
He called not to say this: “Since today is Zijian’s birthday, I’ll give you all a gift.”
Tang Xin had a premonition; she remembered the painting.
That painting was really heartfelt.
She had seen it, and such a beautiful painting would surely be liked by everyone…
“I, Tang Xiao, hereby sever ties with the Tang family!”
Tang Xiao’s voice was cold and resolute.
The scene fell silent once again.
Tang Rushan was the first to explode.
“Shut your mouth! You ingrate! If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll beat you to death!”
Tang Rushan was furious; he had thought Tang Xiao was coming to apologize.
Now he was actually saying he wanted to sever ties with him, his father!
If it weren’t for everyone holding him back, Tang Rushan would have smashed his phone.
Tang Yuan patted Tang Rushan’s back and scolded, “Tang Xiao! Are you crazy? Do you know what you’re saying? Look at how angry Dad is!”
Tang Jie cursed even more: “Tang Xiao! You ungrateful ingrate! You need to come home right now and apologize to Dad!”
“Brother, don’t say foolish things; come back and explain,” Zhang Ping and Tang Zijian both had red eyes.
“Haha, funny. Didn’t your Tang family not like me? Me leaving the Tang family is a great gift, isn’t it?” Tang Xiao said with a smile, as if he were talking about something unrelated to himself.
Tang Xin was the most heartbroken; her voice trembled as she held the phone.
“Tang Xiao, this can’t be what you really mean, right? We all know your feelings. You took good care of the things we sent you. I saw your painting too. Come home, let’s explain things clearly…”
“Oh? You mean those things? Just throw them away for me.”
“Just throw those things away for me.”
In his previous life, Tang Xiao had been hit by a car while holding that painting.
Along with him, his heart had also been crushed.
That painting, those things he once truly loved, were now just garbage in his eyes.
The more relaxed Tang Xiao’s tone was, the more it pierced Tang Xin’s heart.
Tang Xin regretted it; she had a vague premonition that she had lost something incredibly precious and important.
Tang Rushan was furious.
“Tang Xiao, you…”
With a beep, the call was hung up.
Tang Xiao didn’t even give Tang Rushan a chance to speak.
All the words Tang Rushan wanted to curse went unspoken, turning into internal injuries that he swallowed down, fuming with anger.
His rage was beyond control.
“This little bastard!”
Tang Rushan grabbed his phone and smashed it hard on the ground.
The phone was dead.
Meanwhile, the guests arriving for the banquet looked over curiously.
“What are the Tang family doing? Crying and shouting.”
“Who knows? As long as it’s not my phone being smashed.”
“Right, then bring me another glass of Lafite, fill it up.”
The joys and sorrows between people do not connect; they only want to take advantage.
…
The next morning.
Tang Xiao arrived at Class 7 of the third year at No. 2 High School.
The Tang family might not have slept well last night, but he slept very soundly.
The classmates in the classroom were whispering and occasionally glancing at him.
Tang Xiao was puzzled.
What’s going on?
“Tang Xiao! Unfilial son!”
