Chapter 111: Gu Jingzhan, You Are Not Alone
On the other side.
Mrs. Gu also saw the news reports about Gu Jingzhan’s car accident and injuries today.
The entire morning, she sat in a rocking chair by the window, nervously turning the prayer beads in her hand.
As if praying for something.
Sister Li noticed that Mrs. Gu was not quite right, she quietly approached and asked, “Old Madam, what’s wrong with you today? You don’t look well.”
Mrs. Gu sighed softly, her face filled with worry, “Xiao Zhan… had an accident.”
Sister Li was surprised, “The eldest master? What happened to him?”
Mrs. Gu didn’t say anything, she opened her phone and showed Sister Li today’s news.
After reading the news, Sister Li’s eyes showed a hint of worry, she said, “Old Madam, you… don’t you want to go see the eldest master?”
Mrs. Gu didn’t answer, but the prayer beads in her hand turned faster.
“Old Madam, the eldest master’s life is hanging in the balance, aren’t you worried…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Mrs. Gu interrupted.
“We’ve gone through such difficult times before, I believe he can get through this too.”
Mrs. Gu’s eyes were deep and complex, as if filled with endless vicissitudes and determination.
“What if the eldest master doesn’t make it this time?” Sister Li spoke frankly, “Old Madam, the eldest master was raised by you, do you really have no feelings for him?”
Mrs. Gu held the prayer beads tightly in her hand, as if suppressing her inner turmoil.
In a daze, memories of her time with Gu Jingzhan gradually surfaced from her mind.
Seeing that Mrs. Gu was a little moved, Sister Li continued, “If the eldest master just leaves like this, won’t you regret it?”
Mrs. Gu pursed her lips, her heart still hesitant.
After a while, Mrs. Gu’s eyes slowly became firm.
“Sister Li, have the driver prepare the car, go to the hospital.”
Sister Li quickly responded, “Yes, I’ll go right away.”
As Sister Li’s footsteps faded into the distance, Mrs. Gu’s heart gradually calmed down.
Sister Li was right, no matter what, Gu Jingzhan was her grandson, her blood relative that she couldn’t let go of.
Hospital
Xiang Wanqiao had just sent Xiang Yanhua and Jiang Peijun away when she received a message from Zhou Nian, saying that Mrs. Gu was on her way to the hospital.
She immediately informed Lu Qingzhou and asked him to prepare everything.
Lu Qingzhou acted quickly, arranging everything inside and outside the intensive care unit, ensuring that no one would suspect anything.
Xiang Wanqiao returned to the ward and leaned against the wall by the door, quietly watching Gu Jingzhan sitting on the bed.
At this moment, an indescribable emotion was stirring in her heart.
“Qiaoqiao?” Gu Jingzhan saw her lost in thought and called out to her, “Qiaoqiao.”
“Hmm?” Xiang Wanqiao pulled herself out of her thoughts.
“What’s wrong?”
Xiang Wanqiao smiled, not answering his question, she just walked straight to the edge of his bed.
Gu Jingzhan reached out to grab her hand, asking with concern, “What were you thinking about just now? You were so lost in thought.”
“Nothing.” Xiang Wanqiao looked down at him, holding his hand back, “Mrs. Gu, she’s on her way to the hospital now.”
Hearing this, Gu Jingzhan’s expression changed drastically.
His eyes were cold as ice, a self-deprecating smile escaped his lips, “What’s she coming here for? To see if I’m dead?”
Xiang Wanqiao sat on the edge of the bed, holding Gu Jingzhan’s hand tightly in her palm, as if transmitting an invisible force to him.
“Gu Jingzhan, promise me, don’t be sad for them anymore.”
“I won’t.” Gu Jingzhan replied in a low voice, his tone resolute, “I won’t anymore.”
A hint of heartache flashed in Xiang Wanqiao’s eyes, then she leaned forward and hugged him tightly.
“Without them, you’ll be better off. And you have me, your father-in-law and mother-in-law, and your good brothers.”
She said, “Gu Jingzhan, you are not alone.”
Gu Jingzhan was stunned for a moment, then a comforting smile appeared on his face.
“Okay, I know.”
