After Separating from my Mother-in-law, I started to make Money on a Daily Basis Chapter 2

Chapter 2: She could only pretend to faint

Shen Xuezhui quickly walked over to where Small Moon was tied up and quickly untied the rope that was binding her.

Just then, she fainted.

The scene was chaotic, and she could only pretend to faint and improvise.

Small Moon saw Shen Xuezhui faint and wailed loudly.

“Sister, sister, what happened to you… Sister…”, Small Moon cried and pointed at Song Guimiao.

“Mom, Mom, you want to sell me, Sister didn’t agree.”

“Mom pushed Sister to the wall and knocked her head, causing her to faint. A while later, Sister woke up again, but now she’s fainted again.”

“It’s all because of Grandma, Sister would never be like this…”

Even Small Lily cried along.

Song Guimiao walked over and said, “You two, don’t you remember what she did before…”

“What did she do before?”

“She fainted, so why don’t you help her up and carry her to bed?”

“That’s exactly it, she fainted and you, Grandmother, can’t even lift her up.”

The villagers pitied Shen Xuezhui, who was lying on the ground.

Song Guimiao was embarrassed by the villagers’ words.

She turned to Xie Zhigan and said, “Older second daughter, come over here.”

Xie Zhigan walked over, pretending to not have seen anything, “Sister, why did you faint?”

But actually, she was secretly happy that Shen Xuezhui had fainted.

You dared to beat up my son, Land Scourer, so you should faint!

Song Guimiao waved her hand, “I don’t know, I told you to help her up, why are you asking me?”

“Auntie, I’m weak, and I can’t lift her up by myself. Come, Auntie, let’s both of us carry her to her bed.”

Song Guimiao glared at her, “I’m an old granny, you want me to lift her up? You’re really clever!”

Suddenly, someone shouted, “The village head is here!”

Shen Xuezhui’s hand moved slightly, and her eyes slowly opened.

“What’s going on?”

Small Lily reminded her, “Mom, you fainted just now.”

“My daughter, you’re finally awake!”, Small Moon wiped away her tears.

Shen Xuezhui touched her head, where she had been injured. It hurts a lot.

When she heard that the village head had arrived, she slowly got up and called out to the village head, “Village Head, please help us make a decision!”

The village head had someone help Shen Xuezhui, “Shen, you fainted just now, go to the main hall and rest.”

Shen Xuezhui slowly walked to the main hall.

A group of people followed her.

“Village Head, please help me make a decision!”, one-legged Land Scourer blocked the village head’s way.

The village head looked at Shen Xuezhui and then at Land Scourer, “What’s going on in your family?”

Land Scourer lifted his hand, which was shaking, and pointed at Shen Xuezhui, “Village Head, my sister-in-law is crazy!”

“I don’t know where she got her power from, she beat me up so badly that I can’t even walk properly.”

Small Lily looked at Land Scourer with anger, “Second Uncle, don’t spread false rumors.”

The village head looked at Land Scourer and said, “Wait until I understand the whole story before I say anything.”

One of the villagers told the village head about Song Guimiao wanting to sell Small Moon.

The village head listened and looked at Song Guimiao with a deep meaning, his face turned cold.

“Song, Small Moon is your own grandchild, why do you want to sell her?”

Song Guimiao hung her head in shame, stuttering, “I… I… my son Land Scourer has been infatuated with a young woman for a long time, and her father demands 18 taels of silver as a dowry, I…”

“I… I don’t know how to come up with that much money, so I had to sell… sell Small Moon.”

Shen Xuezhui was furious, and looked at Song Guimiao with anger, “Why didn’t you sell the family’s land? You’re not even worthy of being her grandmother, wanting to sell her!

“This family, we can’t stay here anymore, I want to divide the family property now!”

Shen Xuezhui sat down on a long bench against the wall of the main hall.

“My daughter, we’ll go where you go.”

Small Lily clung to Small Moon’s hand, “I’ll go with Mom and sister.”

Song Guimiao stood up, “Shen, if you want to divide the family property, you have to pay for the medical expenses for Xie Zhigan’s injuries.”

Shen Xuezhui stood up, rolling up her sleeve, “I was too tired from working in the fields and doing household chores, so I slept in a bit later this morning.”

“You beat me up with a bamboo stick, and I have injuries on my arm, don’t you have to pay for the medical expenses for me?”

Song Guimiao looked at Shen Xuezhui’s arm, where she had been injured, with a nonchalant expression, “You’re just a little bruised, it’ll be fine in two days.”

Shen Xuezhui argued, “You’re being too light-hearted, my injuries are serious. Your son’s injuries are serious, but mine aren’t? You broke my skin, and now I have old and new injuries, what am I supposed to do with the scars?”

“And you pushed me, my head hit the wall hard, now my head hurts.”

Shen Xuezhui touched her head, where she had been injured, and it felt sticky, “Look, my head injury is serious, it’s bleeding. Did I ask you to pay for my medical expenses?”

“And you’re trying to sell my daughter, and my son wants to put me in the cowshed, I’m not just going to sit here like a piece of fish on a plate, am I supposed to just take it without fighting back?”

Song Guimiao looked at her with a piercing gaze, “Xie Zhigan’s leg injury is serious, he can’t even walk properly, you have to pay for his medical expenses.”

Shen Xuezhui pulled out all the stops, “My money, didn’t you take it all? Even if I had some, I wouldn’t give my son a single copper coin.”

“This time, if I hadn’t resisted, I’d be stuck in the cowshed right now, and Small Moon would have been taken away by the men.”

“I only used five-fifths of my strength to beat up my son, and his leg injury will be fine in seven days.”

Just then, a villager said, “Xie Zhigan’s head injury is serious, he bled a lot. Why is his injury not serious?”

“You’re not even worthy of being Small Moon’s grandmother, let alone trying to collect medical expenses from her. This is taking advantage of others!”

“If it were me, I’d beat him up so badly that he’d be unable to walk, let him pay the price for his own mistakes.”

Shen Xuezhui felt grateful to the villagers for speaking up for her.

She looked at them with gratitude.

Song Guimiao was speechless, Shen Xuezhui had become much stronger than before, she thought for a moment and said, “Let’s bring out our patriarch, see what he has to say.”

The patriarch’s leg was broken last month while he was repairing the roof, now he’s lying in bed recovering.

Two villagers went into the room and brought out Land Patriarch and put him on a chair in the main hall.

Land Patriarch looked at the courtyard, confused, and asked in a hoarse voice, “What’s going on today?”

Song Guimiao walked over and embellished the story for him.

After listening to Song Guimiao’s version of the story, Land Patriarch only cared about Land Scourer’s leg.

He cleared his throat and said, “Shen Xuezhui, why did you beat Land Scourer so badly? He’s your own brother, how could you beat him like that and then want to divide the family property?”

Shen Xuezhui reminded him, “Dad, you missed one thing.”

“Unless my mother wanted to sell Small Moon, and my son wanted to put me in the cowshed, I wouldn’t have beaten him.”
