Chapter 31: What kind of scandalous Words Are These! 

With Su Jinshi by his side, Shen Shilang enjoyed fresh, hot meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – a luxury far beyond what other candidates could dream of.

Consequently, his exam performance was noticeably better than the rest.

On the second evening, Su Jinshi once again prepared a steaming dinner for Shen Shilang. As he ate, he suddenly felt something amiss and froze.

“What’s wrong?” Su Jinshi asked, puzzled. “Is the taste off? Or is something else not right?”

“These past two days, have you been here the whole time?” Shen Shilang asked, his face inexplicably turning red.

Su Jinshi didn’t understand why Shen Shilang’s face had suddenly turned red.

“Yes,” Su Jinshi replied, confused. “What’s the matter?”

Shen Shilang’s face turned even redder. “Then… when I needed to relieve myself, you were…”

The space was small, and Shen Shilang had no way to go outside.

All candidates had to take care of their needs within their assigned area.

Thinking that Su Jinshi might have witnessed this, Shen Shilang’s face turned as red as if it had been boiled.

“I didn’t look, don’t worry,” Su Jinshi assured him, though she very much wanted to. But each time, Shen Shilang had positioned himself discreetly in a corner. She found herself blocked by a blind spot and couldn’t see anything.

“Really?” Shen Shilang asked softly, still doubtful.

Su Jinshi lightly touched his slightly raised eyebrow. “Really. You hid so well that even if I wanted to look, I couldn’t see anything.”

Shen Shilang: “…”

So she did want to look.

Fortunately, he had hidden himself well.

Touching the spot Su Jinshi had just caressed, his face still red, Shen Shilang suddenly asked, “You didn’t look at others, did you?”

Some men weren’t as particular, thinking it was all men here, so they handled their business openly.

“Of course not,” Su Jinshi replied. “Those men don’t even look good. I only want to look at you.”

“Clatter!”

Shen Shilang was so startled that he dropped his chopsticks on the table.

Shen Shilang: “!!!”

What kind of scandalous words are these!

“You… what nonsense are you spouting!” Shen Shilang was too embarrassed to lift his head.

“But it’s true,” Su Jinshi continued boldly, taking advantage of Shen Shilang not being right in front of her. “I only like you, so I only want to touch you and see you. I’m not interested in anyone else, not even their hair.”

“You…” Shen Shilang’s face turned even redder.

It was so red that Su Jinshi began to worry.

Would he be okay?

“You mustn’t let others hear you say such things,” Shen Shilang said, his face still flushed.

Su Jinshi looked at him curiously, glancing left and right before saying, “So what you’re saying is, I can’t say it to anyone else, only to you?”

Shen Shilang: “…”

Su Jinshi observed Shen Shilang’s silence, interpreting it as tacit agreement.

Shen Shilang hurriedly finished his meal, relieved when Su Jinshi dropped the topic.

He then tried to stretch his limbs as much as possible in the small space, jumping a bit to keep his muscles from stiffening after being confined for three days.

Just as he lay down to rest, Su Jinshi suddenly poked his lips twice.

His soft lips sank gently with her touch, and Shen Shilang quickly covered his mouth, his face flushing even more as Su Jinshi said, “Shen Shilang, I won’t say these things to anyone else either. Whether in the past or in the future, I’ll only say such things to you.”

“I’ll only do these things with you,” Su Jinshi said with a smile, taking the opportunity while Shen Shilang was stunned to poke his lips again.

Shen Shilang’s ears and cheeks turned crimson, his lips parting slightly as his gaze darted around in embarrassment. He turned his head aside, covering his face with one hand.

Unfortunately, this revealed his collarbone beneath his collar.

Su Jinshi felt her breathing quicken, her heart racing as her fingers involuntarily landed on his collarbone, gently tapping it.

Shen Shilang instinctively covered the spot she had touched, as if covering her hand as well.

As he turned back, removing his hand from his face, he stared straight ahead, his face still flushed as he murmured, “Stop messing around…”

“Alright, I won’t tease you anymore,” Su Jinshi said softly. “Tomorrow is your last day. Focus on your exam, and we can have a proper chat once you’re done.”

Shen Shilang softly replied, “Okay.”

Only after Shen Shilang had fallen asleep did Su Jinshi cover her own blushing face, patting her cheeks as she muttered to herself, “Who’s flirting with whom, really!”

Luckily, Shen Shilang didn’t know her heart was racing just as fast.

On the final day of exams, as the candidates walked out, they all looked utterly exhausted.

They hadn’t rested well, eaten properly, and their experience had been no better than being locked in a prison cell. The stench of sweat clung to their bodies.

The exams before the provincial exams didn’t require staying in the examination hall for so long.

So this was the first time Wei Jianming had suffered such hardship.

As he staggered out, his steps were unsteady, and dark circles hung heavily under his eyes.

In just three days, he had become significantly more haggard.

Among the numerous candidates, only one stood out.

It was Shen Shilang.

While others stumbled with exhaustion, Shen Shilang appeared in much better condition. His steps were steady as usual, his face carried a hint of joy, and there were no dark circles under his eyes.

Although sleeping conditions had been far from ideal, thanks to Manager Yue’s thorough preparations, Shen Shilang had been spared from mosquito bites. Moreover, with Su Jinshi ensuring he had hot, nourishing meals throughout the exam, he was well-fed.

Aside from his slightly wrinkled clothes, Shen Shilang showed no signs of fatigue.

Wei Jianming, struggling to walk steadily, caught sight of Shen Shilang striding past him with a refreshed look and couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation. “Hmph!”

He couldn’t understand how Shen Shilang managed to stay so energetic.

As they exited the examination hall, they spotted Madam Wei and Wei Ruyan waiting by a carriage in the distance.

Wei Jianming lifted his legs, which felt as heavy as lead, and hurried towards Madam Wei and Wei Ruyan.

Shen Shilang also noticed them but naturally didn’t approach.

He didn’t expect anyone to come for him, so he was ready to head back to the Wei manaion on his own.

“Young Master Shen!”

Startled, Shen Shilang stopped and turned to see Manager Yue standing by a carriage, smiling and waving at him, his mustache quivering. Worried that Shen Shilang might not see him, Manager Yue even began hopping up and down on his short legs.

Even without jumping, his round figure and festive clothing made him quite noticeable in the crowd.

Shen Shilang hadn’t expected Manager Yue to come for him. Seeing him waving so eagerly, a warmth spread through his heart.
